Favourite place for Thai take out. When you request hot, they make it HOT. Small place, and a little hard to spot but the inside is nice and cozy. Their lunch specials are good too. Friendly service as well. Haven’t tried much of their sushi or Japanese fare since the Thai is so good.

Ordered delivery through Unilocal. I was just underwhelmed, frankly, with the meal. The Tom yum soup lacked flavor I’m used to. Noodles too thick. I’m used to peanut sauce with fresh rolls, and this sauce was more tart and didn’t compliment the fresh roll as well. Doorstep delivery was fine in getting the order directly to my hotel room. I would just skip this one.

This has been my favorite Thai restaurant next to Bangkok in Sarasota! It is a casual, relaxing restaurant that is really beautifully decorated for a little hole in the wall. The food is beyond amazing and the Panang curry and pad Thai are favorites. I just came back from Thailand and I feel so lucky to have this authentic restaurant so close. Please try!

Had a very pleasant lunch here. Excellent service, and reasonable prices for Sarasota. We ordered two entrees, egg rolls, vegetable gyoza, a Thai tea, and an iced tea, and the total was 31.00. Honestly, we could have skipped the gyoza and egg rolls. Neither one of us realized that the entrees come with a bowl of soup, small salad, and spring roll. Oops. I ordered tofu with my entrée, and the vegetable gyoza, so the waitress assumed I was vegetarian, and thoughtfully brought me a different version of the soup.(My partner’s had pork in it) I was oddly touched by that. It’s the little things! I kind of went all dorky when we were served our entrees, and they had little butterflies fashioned from carrots on them. Little things! Cute garnishes! Yay! I also was very pleased with the salt and pepper shakers on the tables. They are two little people hugging. Nice décor, friendly staff, cute garnishes, and reasonable priced tasty food… We WILL be back.

Such a great little out of the way place. The Star is tucked in to a shopping plaza anchored by Publix but shines nearly as brightly as the grocery store. The restaurant is small enough to have a quaint cozy feel, but large enough that you don’t feel crowded or cramped. The wait staff wears authentic Thai garb to complete the effect. The Star has the usual Thai fare, such as pad thai, my wife’s favorite. The food is well spiced and has a fresh vibrant taste. Last time we were there I had the Chiangmai Noodle soup. The bowl was preceded by its amazing aroma. The noodles are in this creamy delicious peanut butter curry sauce that is thick but not overwhelming. The vegetables are fresh and lend to the heartiness of the meal. More than a soup, this is a meal. Their curry is delicious and the crispy noodles are amazing. We have not tried their sushi in some time, but have ordered it for lunch and their takeout was very good. We got basic rolls, spicy tuna, unagi, mexican rolls and some tempura. Take out is good but the real treat is dining in. Great service, personable staff and delicious food. This hidden gem is worth the trip, lunch or dinner. Enjoy!

After waiting 30 minutes, I got a tiny scoop of dry chicken on top of some brown, wilted iceberg lettuce. There was excessive liquid in the bottom of the container and the plastic bag. That’s the Larb Gai, $ 8. Feeling pretty ripped off. After trying to pick out a few bites of chicken from the nasty lettuce, I just threw it in the trash.

Great! Consistently wonderful food. In my opinion the best Thai in town. Very nice, friendly staff. The only negative about dining in is the bad music… However, it’s worth it for the food, and the take out is a no brainier :)

Well, I really wanted to love this place. The Unilocal reviews are good and I love both Thai and sushi. While I haven’t. Tried the sushi yet, the Thai is well, less than disappointing. First off never pack a cold seafood salad on top of hot food. It was warm and unappealing from the get go. Chicken with ginger sauce, well chicken was overlooked almost no sauce and portion pretty small. The chicken rice soup with slivers of ginger and Tom yum is very good Stay away from the entrees, too small and non impressive. Would I try it one more time yes. But they forgot our complimentary egg rolls twice, so should we bother?

From the outside its very nondescript. In a strip mall it doesn’t say«the star» anywhere except on the window. It’s says sushi and Thai food” on the sign. Impressed that it’s much nicer on the inside than the outside. We were seated immediately by an attentive and polite waitress the entire time. The egg rolls were delicious and not greasy at all. I had the pad Thai tofu and though the tofu was some of the better I had In town, most of the dish was a little too sweet. Overpowered with peanuts. Wife had the massaman curry which was also a bit too sweet. Daughter just had chicken satay which she has at every oriental restaurant she has ever been to and this one was her favorite. Extremely affordable. Much more so than any other spot. My only takeaway was that it was just too sweet with not enough savory Thai spices I’ve come to love.

We ordered take-out from here earlier this week, based on a recommendation from friends, it was really good! The green curry was fresh and flavorful, the pad-thai and pad kew-mow were great! Sometimes these dishes can be oily, but they prepared them with a great balance of noodles, chicken, veg and sauces. Staff was friendly and food was prepared quickly. We plan to come back to dine in and try the sushi!

Great sushi. Good ambience. Sushi chef was friendly. Refills were a little slow at sushi bar. I was the only one at the bar but they were full everywhere else so it was okay. Very recommended! I will def be back.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years. The food is euphoric! I dream about it. It seems to be run by a lovely family and I always have such warm service. When I was pregnant I ate here twice a week! The Chiangmai Noodle is incredible! And sushi is always on point. ANDTHEYDELIVER!!! A

I lived in Thailand for a year and I have not had a better Thai meal outside of Thailand. We also ordered some sushi and it too was excellent.

I was a little disappointed walking into this place based upon the reviews and nice website. It was darker and dirtier than I expected. There is some old karaōke equipment haphazardly stowed away in the front corner along with old wine bottles for some reason. I don’t think I would try the Sushi here because of the dinginess of the place. I did have the Tom Yum soup and it was very good, and will probably be back to try the thai noodles.
