New owners ruined chicken salsa. Used to be the best rotisserie chicken in the south bay; now the food is sub-par. So disappointing.

Oustanding service from the family who owns it, really delicious food. All you can eat buffet for $ 8.99 with different daily specials, bread, mango lassi and amounts of food that wont run out. Food is made with little oil and the freshest ingredients. 5 stars for the service 5 stars for the food 4 stars for ambiance, could be improved but overall a very unique experience! Will be coming back. Oh and owner says there’s a discount for students– they get the buffet for $ 7.99!

I am so saddened by the loss of my Chicken Salsa. I fed my family here once a week for years. When the new owners came on board I gave it my all to stay a regular customer; however, when I bit into my chicken taco and tasted curry, I knew it was time to move on. The last I saw, the rotisserie was no longer working… truly the end of the old Chicken Salsa:(

Never tasted heaven, but if you want a piece of heaven before you die, you need to come here. Best chicken burrito I ever had in my life.

Honestly, I’m quite confused by all of the positive reviews on this place. Based on the reviews, I was hoping for a mirror image, or at least something close. The customer service consisted of a teenage boy in sandals, a couple of the menu items not being available, and a microwaved enchilada. In my microwaved enchilada, I had the pleasant surprise of finding a hair. I’m pretty sure the rice was packaged rice, the chips pretty stale, and the selection of dressings down to one. I love Mexican food and don’t have high expectations at all, but…

Friendly, fresh and so very yummy. :-) Veggie burrito has a wonderfully spicy kick to it, the chicken is very tender and most. A worthwhile venture.

Growing up in Saratoga, I’ve gone to chicken salsa for casual lunch and takeout numerous times. In the past year or so, Chicken Salsa has undergone new management by a friendly Indian family. Although not the same ownership, I’ve visited a couple times and can assure you the quality is still there. Just beware that the chicken enchiladas are hooooooot! I love spicy food as much as the next person but these were borderline too much – my friend was having a pretty hard time getting through em and her mouth(and mine) we’re burning for awhile after haha.

Compared to the previous ownership which was running this place into the ground I would give the new owners 6 stars if I could. To begin with, customer service has improved drastically, the food is better and since they are getting a feel for the area and its taste, they accommodate you very well. If you want your tacos with corn tortillas instead of flour, just say so. The ribs and rotisserie chicken are a must. They have free fights on as long as you buy something!!! Awesome! Small place but I think the new ownership is out to get their customers back.

Disclaimer: NEWOWNERS. This little place that so many saratogans have come to love has been taken over by an Indian family. Everyone I came in contact with was super nice. The food that was always a little pricey for a burrito is still pricey, but now disappointing. My burrito was cold, the chicken was in huge chunks impossible to bite politely, the rice exploded out of the cold tortilla about 4 bites in and my chips were half cooked. I never leave bad reviews but my heart is saddened and you have lost my business.

So wacky that this place now has an Indian restaurant too. Iev seen this a number of times but didnt decided to eat here until recently. Wanted a rotisserie chicken and got that with rice and beans. Good flavor all around but the chicken was not completely fresh off the grill. It probably would have been amazing otherwise. THe space is pretty dumpy and im sure it’s seen better days. Possibly better as a food to go option when you know the birds are coming off the fire

The customer service by the two guys at the register was good, and they were very helpful when a friend and I ate there around 2pm on a Sunday. We ordered chicken burritos and tacos, and we both thought the food wasn’t very good. The chicken is decent, but everything else is either just average or not that great. I wouldn’t say the food is terrible, but I definitely won’t be going back.

I tried this restaurant as I work down the street. Worst Mexican food you can have. You’re better off going to Whole Foods or Chipotle to get your Burrito or Taco. First, who has an Indian buffet and a Mexican restaurant in the same restaurant? Nothing in this place looked clean. Two, my chicken taco had nothing in it besides chicken and tortilla. Wheres the beans, rice, lettuce, Tomaso, or anything else? Three, the kid making it kept destroying my taco. By the end of the making process, both tacos were completely destroyed. It would be laughable how bad the service and food was, but I had to eat it. Some of the food like the chicken and rice were over-seasoned and others like the beans were very under-seasoned. Save your money and your appetite and just go to Chipotle, Chevy’s, or Whole Foods.

Wow. I always disliked this place as a Mexican restaurant, preferring, instead, to head over to Los Dos Compadres Taqueria across the street near the Bank of America. However, a good friend of mine had informed me that there was a new Indian buffet at Chicken Salsa. Can you imagine my disbelief? Chicken Salsa, the Indian Buffet?! I had to give it a shot. When I entered the back door to the Indian buffet, I knew that this change was quite recent, as the presentation was that of a new family just moved-in unpacking boxes to set the table. Having grown up in Los Angeles, I disregarded the aesthetics as I have eaten in far more sketchy places and enjoyed an incredible meal – and that’s exactly what I experienced here. Just enough kick of a chicken curry, beautifully fluffy basmati rice, right-on dahl soup, and some quesadilla lookin’ thing filled with spicy vegetables – all quite healthy food absolutely PACKED with flavor. But I can’t forget to mention the(complementary) MANGOLASSI or the magic words«Do you want more?» There was also dessert: a super-sweet coconut, ginger pastry(I can’t recall exactly what I was told, I was too far gone in food coma). I was treated as family, an warm feeling I rarely feel from a Silicon Valley restaurant. I was taken back to when my grandmother wouldn’t let me leave the table until I was so full that food would fall out of my mouth if I tried to eat it. And all this cost me $ 7.99 + tip. So yeah, I’ll be going back again, and it will only get better as time goes on.

WHAT would possess someone to buy a perfectly lucrative business and change everything about it? I should have known when they weren’t packed as usual. I’ve been going here for 20+ years and today was my last time. My last visit I was concerned that there were new owners who weren’t Hispanic but the food tasted the same so I wasn’t too worried. My rundown… 1– they were yelling back and forth trying to get the(easy) orders straight 2– I asked for soft corn tortilla being gluten intolerant and they informed me they had great homemade ones but then she tried to make it with a flour tortilla. When I finally got my taco it didn’t taste like corn although they assured me it was, after debating for a moment. Maybe so but it was awful. 3-all the salads and salsas that are normally in an ice filled cooler had no ice WARNING!!! 4-the rice had NO flavor and that along with the chicken was my favorite thing about this place. Also, they tried to give me a taster of their Indian rice. I know what Indian rice is but I wanted Mexican food-duh. If you liked Chicken Salsa before stay away. If you weren’t thrilled before then this won’t faze you. Personally I’m really bummed. They only reason they got 2 stars was the chicken tasted the same, although it wasn’t very warm. Never again.

Visiting the parents from Virginia and wanted to make sure I got a real California burrito while I was here. For flavor, Chicken Salsa did not disappoint. The chicken was nicely cooked with the great flavor of actually grilled chicken. Just a bit of char that gave it flavor and a nice crunch on the outside. The ingredients in the burrito were tasty and well balanced. The right ratios of sauce to solids and it all played great together. Not too heavy on the rice or beans like you’ll find at a lot of places trying to fill as much as possible, as cheap as possible. A pleasant lunch experience. The one thing I’ll say could be better is the portion to price ratio. The price is just a bit high for the less than bursting burrito I got. This may be partially because of the high cost(high rent) area that the restaurant is located in. I’ll definitely visit again if a burrito strikes my fancy and I don’t want to travel far.

I like it! But I don’t love the taco’s; they are just Ok; they seem to be lacking fillings, and especially for the price. But, the do have great chicken! I go there fairly frequently

No. Their burritos do mexican cuisine a disservice. Overloaded with beans, a few grains of rice, some steak, and almost a complete absence of sour cream or cheese. It was the driest burrito i had ever consumed, and the last.

Ive been coming here since i was in high school and i still love it! Their tortillas are always soft and chewy, and their chicken is warm. two of their tacos and their chips & salsa fill me up. Sometimes i order their combo, where they add mash potatoes, and its reaaaally good. its a bit chunky, so its not like baby food, which i like. I always dip my tacos in my salsa too, dont even need taco sauce! I think they give you free chips with every order, and two small sauce containers of salsa. You have to pay extra if you want more though. I like the saltiness of their chips, it goes well with my tacos. I tried my boyfriends burrito though, its not as good as i thought it would be. It’s satisfying but i wouldnt come here just to buy it. It’s good if youre hungry and microwave it for leftovers, but thats about it. Service is pretty fast, and the cashier lady is always nice.
