Good and not expensive place for lunch. Delicious hamburgers. Nice decorations inside.

Ate here twice: once for breakfast and once for dinner. Breakfast was out of this world good. The dinner had this health salad, which I really enjoyed. Went both times with a group of seven and found it to be very very good. Not a bad meal out of the 14 served

Monroe’s is «fine» but not the 4+ stars that many have posted. The manly omelet was incredibly dry and the kids meals were very small. Not enough food for an 8 year old(2 chicken strips) or 6 year old(barely any cheese on the grilled cheese & since the crusts were cut off it was even less food than expected). Had hoped for more. It’s pretty hard to screw up breakfast food… the service was good. We won’t be going back.

My meal last weekend at Monroe’s was fine enough, but it wasn’t really anything special. I had the asian salad and the chicken was cheap and rubbery, with some pieces very difficult to choke down. My friend had a scramble and remarked that there was 60% cheese and 40% egg. The ingredients were also uninspired and the broccoli was overcooked and limp. Making matters worse though was the wait staff(or lack thereof). The one server present was running around in a frenzy and completely overworked. That may have been due to someone(or hopefully two servers) calling in sick that night(the cook and the bus person were both serving food and greeting). What it doesn’t excuse though was the server’s complete lack of interest in being friendly and helpful. When I asked what the soup of the day was she replied with: «Ugh. Let me go check. I really don’t pay attention.(pause) Meatball.» I asked her what was in it. Her reply: «Meatballs?» I asked her to elaborate and she couldn’t/wouldn’t. Sadly we hadn’t planned well and were both starving so we stuck it out. Should have trusted our instincts from her reply though. Mediocre food of mediocre quality and abysmal service. I won’t be returning ever again.

My kids rated their pancakes, «the best ever» and gave them a 9.5 /10! The tuna melt was the best I have had in a long time. Served on rye, which kept it toward the smaller side(which I appreciated), & served with a bag of chips. The French Toast looked and tasted delicious. I recommend this place for a nice, simple and good breakfast or lunch. You will not be disappointed. The Marilyn décor prompted a lively discussion with the kids about her life. The staff was cordial and the atmosphere easygoing. The bathroom was clean and many patrons ate outside facing the park and lake.

We drove up to Saugatuck Michigan for 4th July to see the fireworks, while we waited we came in for some dinner. I had the sweet potato fries and penne pasta. I loved both dishes! The sweet potato fries were soon good, nice and crispy.

Perfect place to have dinner after hiking all day on the dunes. They have a great outdoor seating area where you can sit with your dogs and they even have a doggie menu! I had the veggie pot pie and it was delicious. My husband had the curry chicken salad and it was excellent too. Good choice in Saugatuck especially if you’re dining with a furry friend.

Serve breakfast all day. Basically basic, salted. I’d take a pass.

We had a terrific experience here. We loved the theme. Their a standard breakfast place, very clean and bright. We had standard breakfast fare. Cheese omelet with bacon on the side. It was not overcooked and was tasty. Coffee was good and readily available. Pancakes were fluffy and tasty. We’ll be back.

Sorry but no. Portions were tiny for the price. French Toast not even edible. Would have made a better door stop. Skip it.

Long wait, poorly cooked food, awkward bordering on passive aggressive service. We will not be returning. We came in as a large group 12, but offered to be split to make things easier. Half of our group had paid their check before the half I was in even got our food. When speaking with the manager, she all but blamed us for the poor experience. We ordered right about the same time as our friends, and others who came in after us also were served first. The nature of the Sawgatuck summer vacation rush must be what keeps such apathy in business.

Mediocre lunch at best. I had a burger(frozen burger patty) taste was ok, but not worth $ 10. My wife had a turkey sandwich. It was not even mediocre — she ate less then half. It was cheap deli turkey on cheap wheat sandwich bread. A few years ago we ate breakfast here and really enjoyed it. Either we got lucky last time or something has changed.

Some good some bad. Let’s start with the bad. Cold eggs and a pretty long wait. Three of us had eggs and they were warm, in parts, at best. Bacon was good. Coffee was good. Service was fine. I’d send you to way point in Douglas. See my review on that one.

Eggs Benedict were good, requested poached soft and hollandaise sauce was good and tangy. I would of appreciated more hollandaise sauce. The hash is not home made and besides it being fried up, its worth skipping. Coffee was hot and the theme was decent. The wait staff certainly could of been more friendly. The town is a tourist hot spot in the summer and being that the place was empty when we walked in, a warmer welcome and less time on her ipad would of been appreciated.

Nice little spot for breakfast. Food seemed fresh, serving sizes were perfect. Two little nit-picks — I ordered my eggs over-medium and got over-easy, and the plastic mugs, although I get the mid-century modern thing… I didn’t like drinking my coffee out of plastic.

The food is a three star. The service is slow and I had to chase the server for refills on the coffee. The place is nice though and had potential to be great. they need to stand out on the breakfast selection. Have to say that the fruit bowl was very good and it was fresh fruit.

I ate here last weekend as part of a party of seven. Once you get above four, that can cause some small restaurants a bit of stress. This certainly wasn’t the case for Monroe’s. Coffee kept flowing without asking and all seven dishes came out piping hot at the same time, which is no small feat for a small kitchen. None of this is worth much if the food isn’t good. All seven of us enjoyed our meals. I had the Eggs Florentine and it was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in a while. The eggs were perfectly poached, the sauce was perfectly balanced and the accompanying potatoes were super crispy and tasty. Be sure to get here early on the weekends as it fills up quickly. I’ll be back next time I’m in the area and I suspect you will too if you give it a try.

This place is awesome. Every time we’ve travel to Douglas, Michigan we always make a point to come here for breakfast. This year traveling with our little puppy, we found out you can’t have your dog at your table, even outside. As we walked to Monroe;s I realized we might have a problem. There’s 2 tables outside and 2-dogs at 1. SCORE! After w sat down, the waitress informed us there was a Doggie Menu. Our little Snowball sat at the table with us. She shared pancakes and Eggs Benedict. The food here is really good. Service is Awesome. Can’t wait to travel back again. Thank you to the wonderful staff. Sorry took so long to post a Review.

My friends and I were visiting Saugatuck this weekend, and we were feeling stressed that no restaurant world serve us on a patio with our dogs in tow. Little did we know the staff a Monroe’s are dog lovers. Not only did they seat our unusual party, there were bowls of water for the dogs and plenty of cuddles from the staff. There’s even a pet menu for treats for your furry friend. The people food was great too, but the service is where they shine. I will definitely be back, and I will recommend this place to fellow dog owners. Kudos

EGGSBENEDICT! Wow, I’m surprised to read such bad reviews. We stopped in around 9am on a Friday morning, two other tables were occupied at the time so they weren’t very busy. Service: We were waited on by a helpful friendly woman who was responsive and helpful. I asked whether their eggs benedict’s hollandaise sauce was made from scratch or from a powdered mix, when she informed me it was homemade, I ordered it. I don’t remember what my husband ordered because I was so consumed by the sheer joy of stumbling upon eggs benedict that was cooked to perfection. English muffin: cooked to perfect level of outer crunchiness/inner softness, Canadian bacon: fresh, smoky tender, eggs: perfectly over-easy, Hollandaise: Out of this world and LOTS of it! I usually have to request more because when its homemade restaurants tend to be skimpy with it. Yes, the Marilyn Monroe theme is cheesy, but so what. Great photo ops. The restaurant windows give a great view of the bay and passersby. I was hoping to buy a Monroe’s t-shirt, but didn’t see any offered. I do vaguely remember my husband being pleased with the omelet he ordered. Order the eggs benedict to avoid breakfast envy! OH, I see someone posted a photo of the eggs benedict, though it doesn’t really do it justice. But it seems someone else liked it too.
