First time here and probably last time. The food was decent but the drinks WAYOVERPRICED. $ 12 for Q Cosmo? I have had good cosmos. This was not. Eat food but don’t drink here.

The food is good, I enjoyed my ½ perch but the service is lacking. On two different occasions the waitress tried to take my plate, even threw dirty napkins on it when I clearly wasn’t done. Yup, that makes me want to recommend the place. When I was done and asked for the bill she took forever bringing it. You can reflect your displeasure in the tip but only your waitress will ever know. What I should have done was complain to the manager so he/she could correct the situation, but I didn’t. My mistake.

My husband and I went here today with our kids for lunch. My husband enjoyed his half order of fish, I believe it was perch. My popcorn shrimp was nothing special. The waitress highly recommended the appetizer of the whitefish dip. When we finally did get it, after our meals had already come out, it was deplorable. The flavor was seriously lacking, it was overrun with giant chunks of bell peppers, and it was sitting in half an inch of grease! Yuck! I can’t believe they charge people $ 9 for that. When we didn’t eat it and mentioned to the waitress that we didn’t like it and pointed out the grease pool, she said sorry for the bad recommendation — no discount, no offering to take it off the tab, which to me is just bad service. To top it off our waitress was dressed in daisy Dukes and a shirt with slits up the sides… Not professional at all. A relaxed environment is great, but an inch or two of butt and gut hanging out is definitely not what we want to see when eating. Gross! We won’t be back.

This is your typical small town, Local hole-in-the-wall bar. Great location and service. I went here twice on a 2 day visit to Saugatuck. Great for after dinner drinks.

Very good food. We’re from out of town. We came up for the weekend. We found Wally’s bar and Grill online. The ribs were great. The Jamaican/Barbeque pork sandwich was Excellent. Would definitely recommend.

On a beautiful sunny Saturday morning we drove up to Saugatuck. We walked around enjoying the shops that were open. Around 1:30 we decided to stop in for a quick drink at Wally’s. A very delightfully friendly bartender named Chris kept us entertained for hours. Bloody Marys and beers for my husband and a very delicious spinach and artichoke dip really added to our experience. What a happy day! Do stop in to visit Chris and a gal named Sam where you will not only be well served but entertained as well

Have to give only one star because that’s a must! Other then that the place sucks! The person who claims to own wallies is a complete ass and has NO business running/owning a bar. Apparently he can shove girls or women around but they or there spouse are not allowed to question or stand up to it. He just has them removed from the bar! The drinks are expensive and are watered down. If you do go I would go during the off time when they are not busy, because if you have the same run in with the same dumb ass you will be wishing you had listened to this advice!!! HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE!!! And men know that he won’t push you, he will push your girl!

Great Bartender, delicious food, solid beer, and the location is right downtown Saugatuck. what else would you need?

Wally’s was fun for a night out in Saugatuck. We were drawn in by the band playing lively cover music on a Saturday evening. It was fun to be able to dance outside instead of crammed into a sweaty bar. The crowd was varied, ranging from rowdy bachelorette parties to couples in their 50’s and 60’s. No cover charge which was a nice treat. The band even started early, which was good. Beers were a bit pricey($ 5) given they were served in 12oz plastic cups. All in all, guaranteed fun but definitely a spot that draws in tourists and therefore has tourist prices.

Our first time at Wally’s. Had an excellent waitress that was on top of refills all day; a big part of my eating experience. Definitely order the Smoked Whitefish Dip App it was delicious. Had the wally burger and the nachos. Very happy with the food. Music was a bit excessive on the volume spectrum. Overall pleased; will be back.

Basic Bar Food — Not worth the wait It was a lovely day and we thought it would be nice to sit outside with some friends who had not been to Saugatuck for several years. Still a good place to people watch and still the same fare. Stay with your basic bar food — hamburgers etc. One of our group ordered tuna salad and it was virtually inedible. Our server was the designated staff member to try to lure in customers and ran out once when the Duck Tour went by and was yelling to the passengers to come on in. Pretty desperate.

Stick to a basic burger and they’re okay. I ordered the special olive one that the waitress recommended, expecting a tapenade type topping. It was halved olives in mayo. Gross. Skip the fries(that they charge you extra for!) as they taste like reheated baked fries. The fried shrimp basket was lots of breading with tiny shrimp somewhere inside. The inside seating area is dark and uninviting, although on the patio it’s a nice spot to people watch. Perhaps if you’re just looking for a drink this spot could work.

Don’t fear the WHITEFISHDIP! Beer is cold, floor is messy, staff is okay. Wally’s is tucked away in a little line of quaint businesses and appropriate as an alternative to the other trendy Saugatuck restaurants.

Why 5 stars? In short, because the food, service, and ambiance are well above your typical bar/grill. Re: the food — The food here is made with wholesome ingredients and done in fresh ways you wouldn’t expect from a bar/grill. I highly recommend the fish sandwich! It’s two whole fillets of fresh whitefish, fried in a light batter to golden brown, and nestled in a warm, buttery bun. The staff is very down to earth, friendly, and fun when I visited this fall. Couple that with their central location and outdoor patio and you’ve got a winner.

We tried quite a few places in town. Unfortunately, Wallys didn’t impress us. It was probably the last place we would eat at. We only tried it once. The server seemed like they didn’t want to be there. We asked for a beer list and the response was that the beers were in a glass-door cooler so we could see the choices. Seriously? The food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t worth over coming the poor attitude, the old feeling ambiance etc.

Perch.Walleye. Patio. Three things that I can highly recommend. Saugatuck is a sweet little enclave of tourist summer ideal.

My husband and I had just arrived in Saugatuck and were looking for a place to watch a Bears game in October. Considering we were in Lions Country, we weren’t sure what we would find, or if we’d be out of luck. Wally’s pulled through. After walking through the entire downtown area, Wally’s was the first place we saw that was intriguing enough to enter. We were lucky enough to find a table in a VERY packed bar full of Bears fans! We were overjoyed. Our server was with us quickly, and we ordered drinks and an appetizer to share. The drinks had heavy pours, which made us quite happy, and everyone in the restaurant seemed so friendly. We had conversations with several people and had a really great time. This is a cozy, comfortable bar that really makes you feel like home in a primarily tourist-y town. If we’re ever back in the area, we will definitely visit! It was the best bar we found in the downtown vicinity.

Wally’s is getting one star because I’m going to assume their food is edible, if for no other reason than others on Unilocal thought so. We arrived at Wally’s(after reading the good reviews) on a busy Saturday(the day of the Saugatuck Art Festival) — we got there at 1120a thinking we’d avoid a wait since they open at 1130a. We stood there waiting with a group of others who had assembled, watching a supply deliveryman go in/out, the staff cleaning windows and prepping condiments in the bar area. Another kitchen staffer come in and out with what looked like pots filled with oil from the deep fryer — it was obvious they weren’t prepared to open at 1130a like the sign said. 1130a comes and goes — at about 1145a someone finally took notice of the crowd waiting to get in, only to say they apologize for the wait but they got a late delivery and would open soon. We asked if we could just be seated, out of the sun on their shaded patio and the guy said«I can’t let anyone in» and walked away. We figured our dining experience would be more of the same lackluster attitude so we went elsewhere.
