Seriously, you will NEVER eat a better sandwich. Dave is a culinary genius. His creations are full of unexpected flavors — each bite a delight. And I’m not even a sandwich person. Plus I have Celiac Disease, and so most sandwiches now for me suck. He has completely changed my mind — his sandwiches can be made into salads, he also uses really good gluten free bread and other ingredients and makes sure his work surfaces are clean and crumb free before he makes your GF creation. This place often has lines because it’s so damn good, but they still manage to get your order out in a timely fashion. The customer service is great and you will leave with the best sandwich of your life. Go Davey Jones!

You might have better luck than I did. I ordered two sandwiches and took out a mortgage to pay. I waited 40 mins for the sandwichs! When my sandwich was finally ready the guy behind the counter said…“oh next time you should try some cranberry sauce on this sandwich… «there will be no next time». The staff was disorganized, slow and rude. There is nowhere to wait for your order. Was the sandwich good? No! it’s stoner food. It was put together in a very sloppy fashion.

My friends were playing away at Poggio after I saw them at a Unilocal event. Thinking about Sausalito reminded me to review the sandwiches at this unique bait shop. Erm, don’t assume that just cuz you’re crossing the threshold of a bait shop that the sammies aren’t fancy, or that the chips and drinks are cheap. Cuz they simply ain’t. Luckily, for once, I didn’t end up treating, and so I enjoyed letting someone else pick up the tab. I found my sando very enjoyable. Meat filling ratio just right, and the bread draping it was O SOVERYMEMORABLE. It’s a spendy sandwich shop, that it is. But I betcha you will be full for at least 5 hours, and that their bread will stick with ya. It’s all about the chew.

I’ve heard only great things about this place so today when I was craving a sandwich and I decided to give it a try. The sandwich was incredible full of flavor fresh high-quality ingredients and served on soft fresh baked bread. The price tag was fitting for the huge sandwich that I got(I could only finished half). If you’re looking for a discount sandwich shop then go to Subway, if you’re looking for an extremely high-quality deli sandwich experience then go here. Also, the woman Theodora, who made my sandwich was a real pleasure. Great customer service and I highly recommend this place to any sandwich lover.

I’m out of my mind, this place is amazing, I had a b4 sandwich and I experienced a whole new level of food and flavor satisfaction ! the lady that was making that sandwich is in love with her job, please watch her cook your food if you go there what the does is not just following a recipe she’s an artist… I’m from San Diego and I’m sure that I will come back !

Been there once, had a BBC. The sandwich was great and surprisingly hearty. It was still great even when I ate the leftover 4 hours later. The only reason why it’s not 5 stars is that the ambiance really doesn’t match the price tag. I went in knowing so, but I still cannot justify a $ 14 sandwich from a corner store, even if this is one of the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten.

I was really excited to try to place after finding it on Unilocal while in the area for a work thing. Took a bit of wandering to find the location since it’s located in a liquor store. I didn’t see any signs for advertisement. Upon arriving the staff was friendly and helpful while ordering. We got the most popular ordered items(vegan wrap & Cubano). Everything was expensive too. for 2 drinks, 1 bag of chips and the food it was about $ 35. Both items were extremely messy we couldn’t even keep together and looked absolutely nothing like all the amazing pix we saw on Unilocal.I was not impressed and literally couldn’t even finish my wrap because it took vegan to a whole new level. Maybe we ordered the wrong items for our liking but I just want impressed.

I’m giving this place one star for the following reason: When I went near noon(~1145) they’d run out of bread. A sandwich place running out of bread before noon just seems wrong. Perhaps I’ll try visiting them again and see if they’ve sorted their ordering problem.

Kind of a ripoff. While I was waiting for my bike to get fixed next door, I paid $ 9 for an «Uncle» sandwich. Size was really skimpy — about the size of a half sandwich. So this was effectively the same price as an $ 18 sandwich. Also I wonder about the cleanliness of the place. I continually had flies buzzing at me while I was wait for my $ 18 sandwich. Definitely won’t be going back.

Friendly staff, interesting locale, fresh ingredients and slow roasted meats. However, while the sandwich combos sound appetizing, turns out we are sandwich purists. The sum of the parts ended up less than the whole with the plethora of toppings detracting from the flavorful meats and generally confusing my pallet. Good for sure, but id be happier with a simpler and lower priced sandwich.

Stopped by for a gourmet sando based on comments on Unilocal. Ordered the turkey pesto with werks, all fresh and good, but was surprised at mediocre portion of meat to vegies ratio for a $ 14 sandwich, really? I have had much better fresh, tasty and loaded sandos at Mr Pickle for half the price. I would expect much better quality and portionfrom an independent owner.

Tourist Trap High Price Low Yield Alert. Meager, stingy meat portion with flimsy leaf of lettuce. Squashed looking roll. Shocking, embarrassing disappointment. Are you kidding me? Bald faced rip off. Inexcusable serving being so close to the glories of San Francisco’s delis minutes away. Ordered Grandmas Turkey sandwich with lettuce, mayo on dutch crunch. Since I love turkey I asked for more meat which added $ 3 to the order — tax and tip $ 13. When I was handed the sandwich wrapped and cut in in half, the two halves seemed very small at about 3 inches square and less than 2 inches high. They were light as a feather. I gulped as I paid 13 smackers for this teensy, tiny sandwich fit only for English tea. When I opened the sandwich at home, the meat portion told the story. It was about 3 oz of meat, the lettuce was one sad wilted leaf. Though I had asked for an extra portion of meat, there seemed very little evidence they added it. The roll looked like it had been sat on. The only feeling I can describe I had at this moment was being disheartened by this establishment. Something felt unfair. It’s the same feeling I had with hi-tech burritos the size and girth of tootsie rolls. Does hi-tech even exist anymore? Their shrinking burritos imploded like a black hole and then hi-tech probably plunged into the quantum drink. Particles! Who serves particles? I digress. Sorry. Was this some kind of mistake? Was something overlooked, omitted? Are all the glowing reviews here made by munchkins? My family has looked high and wide for fresh baked turkey sandwiches and this place seemed so ideal and I drove from 5 cities away to get this amazingly described sandwich. Site unseen, I recommended the place to them for the next time they come to Marin. I can tell you now that I saw, I will never go back and my family will not be visiting either. Hate it when I get burned by a deli in this way. Sticking to Andy’s Market deli and United Market’s deli. Too bad. The slivers of turkey were tasty. Staff was friendly.

Legend has it that the when Nelson Mandela was finally released from prison, his first stop was a small seafood shack run by none other than Captain Chef Dr Davey Jones. Lucky for us that he set sail shortly afterwards and has settled in Sausalito. You can’t go wrong with a vegan wrap or a beef brisket sandwich. If every liquor store had food this good alcoholics would be much happier.

I strolled through here one day with a friend to grab a bottle of booze, no special food orders this time, but the quick look around had me wanting to order something! I could tell this place was legit and was ready for the chance to come back and make some magic happen. The deli boasts a wall of artisan chips and crackers to nosh on with your sammy or salad. I selected a sweet potato chip that was delightfully fresh tasting for a bag of chips and I could tell no preservatives. Along with my tasty chips I opted for a salad instead of trying to battle gluten free bread. I was pleased the salad menu is robust and includes a beautiful base of arugula, spinach, and green leaf. The salads are lightly dressed with olive oil, salt and pepper and lemon, which for me was perfect and I didn’t need more dressing. I opted for smoked gouda, almonds, beets, and cucumbers. It was bright, fresh, and perfect for a fantastic sunny afternoon. My buddies all opted for a sandwiches and wraps. Let me tell you, the wraps?! good lord those looked amazing. Might be worth a cheat some day for me. There is a mister McDreamy who works the counter, at least when I was there, which only adds to the awesomeness of this place and brings an extra smile to your face while you flirt and order. You can get it all here; sandwiches, chips, candy, ice cream(fresh and locally made), booze, and other standard options found in a deli. I felt the price points are spot on for the location and qualify of food you get. I was excited for my lunch and it didn’t disappoint. I can’t wait for another opportunity to taste test more of the menu.

Davey Jones Deli shows the beauty of Unilocal: discovering local, hidden gems in your neighborhood. Literally hidden in a convenience store called the New Bait Shop that you could miss coming off Highway 101(Sausalito exit), Davey Jones Deli delivers some of the freshest and tastiest sandwiches. The menu is vast — just reading the ingredients made me excited to order. The prep station is generous, lined with spreads and even spices on the walls. I was in the mood for something light so I opted for the Caprese sandwich. Great choice if you’re looking for the perfect combination of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, almond pesto, arugula, and spinach. There’s an extra roasted red pepper sauce with balsamic, garlic, and lemon. They don’t skimp on the flavors and it’s all inside a warm ciabatta roll. LOVE it!

These sandwiches are as good as advertised. Better than Ikes. Extremely fresh vegetables used. The arugula tasted like it was straight from the garden. I had the vegan wrap(their best seller), and I was extremely happy with all the different fresh flavors. Love the beets, avocado, red pepper and hummus spread, and I could go on and on. Next time I get it, I’ll add some meat(therefore becoming the ‘Basatardoh’ sandwich). I also tried the BC(Beef Brisket sandwich) and Cuben, as the people I was with got them. Those were also solid. The Cuben has a good combination of meat. Other notes: — The deli is inside the Bait Shop Market, you order the sandwich and then pay at the market counter. — All the staff members are extremely friendly, and this place smells like bacon(mmmmm) as it’s cooking in the oven. You can customize your sandwich, and the staff prefers for you to be very specific. There are 3 different levels of spice. — There’s no seating inside, so get your sandwich and find a place outside by the water to eat. I originally learned about this place on Bay Area Check Please(television show), and I’m glad I finally checked it out. I would definitely come back if I’m in the area. I love all their fresh veggie and sauce combinations. Next time I’ll get me some pesto spread and meat on my sandwich.

Really great sandwich tucked away in a small center right past downtown Sausalito! The sandwiches here are really fresh and packed with veggies. They put an Awesome Sauce with garlic and spice on their sandos, and I was happy to learn that they don’t use mayo in their sauce. I order the TP. something. Turkey sandwich with«The Twerks»(a mix of lettuce, radish, beets, other goodness). Davey Jones is a great stop for a fresh sandwich with toasted bread. 3 stars because the sandwich was $ 14, which is pretty steep for any sandwich in general. The sandwich was cut in half and each half was individually wrapped, which I also didn’t understand. I ate half a sandwich and continued on a bike ride, then left the other half for later. Most sandwiches hold up pretty well for a few hours, and I assumed this one would as it was wrapped separately, but a few hours later my second half was a soggy mess. All in all, Davey Jones as bright and fresh sandwiches with great ingredients, but to me, the sando fell flat. I’ve had better.

I write this as the remains of the sandwich I just murdered lay before me. I’m kind of in a food coma, so pardon this review. I’ll just get right to it. I got the calexico wrap. It was amazing. I’m 5″ and 95lbs. Today, I am more sandwich than woman.(I ate it all) We also picked up two beef brisket sandwiches with the Werks and Twerks. I don’t think it’s going to make it back home. My gluttony is taking over my entire being. Unilocaling is making me hungry. The people behind the counter are awesome and super friendly. Thank you!
