I have walked by this place many times on my visits to Sausalito but never had the chance to try it until a warm summer’s night last week. Our party of 4 needed someplace to eat after realizing that the crowd in the park for Friday night jazz was getting too big and we didn’t feel like fighting lines for the food tents.(lots of irony in there as it was mostly seniors and they were all incredibly well behaved). So off to Salsalito we went and it did us right. I had a plate of 3 tacos,(shrimp, fish and a shredded pork) and they were pretty decent. The toppings(some slaw and salsa) were OK and overall they were good tacos. My only disappointment was: 1) the tortillas fell apart very easily — too easily and it made it hard to eat the taco. This wasn’t just me either — the others who had tacos at our table also noticed this) and 2) They were good tacos, but the price was a little steep — I ended up paying about $ 14 for 3 tacos. Other highlights were the chips and guacamole which were handmade. For me, the salsa, chips and guacamole are good measure of the quality in a Mexican restaurant is, and they did not disappoint. They were not free(about $ 4.5) as they usually are in most Mexican places, but they were very good. The service was also excellent. My summary would be: Good quality food — priced a little higher than normal, but it will not disappoint.

Well… I’ll admit the place is good, however the reason for the lack of additional stars rests on just a few things. First the good: Great service with a smile Ambiance Grass fed beef and free range chicken Home made chips That about covers the good, now for the improvement areas: Price — place is waaaay to expensive for what it is. This is not a fine dining spot, but rather a taco spot with some additional items. We paid $ 82 with tip included(15%) for a plate of nachos, shrimp ceviche, 2 tacos, chips and guacamole and 2 drinks. Sizes — these were ok, but again for the price, no go. A single chicken or beef taco was $ 4.50. Refills — there was no free refill in chips or salsa and in fact you had to buy it, which is kinda weird. That’s it. Would I return, maybe, but the above would have to be corrected for sure cause $ 82 for what we got is a bit on the pricey side. $$$ for this place. To management: fix this please and we will be back for sure as the essentials are there for the most part, just need a few tweaks.

terrible food, terrible drinks. $ 8.50 sangrias that tasted cheap $ 8 guacamole for a small dish, less than 1 avocado worth when they’re only $ 1 each at TJ? greasy chips which I actually liked okay salsa but skimpy portions they won’t refill bad tacos service is quick once you put in your order but it takes them a while to come around worst $ 17 ever spent on a sangria and half the guac — yes, that’s how much it costs after tax + tip

So bland! Everything we ate had zero flavor. I had the carne asada and one of the fish tacos. My husband had the donkey burrito and said the same thing. I even tried the guac from my son’s quesadilla. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. I’m from Texas and am in love with a good taco. This was not it.

This is a great little taco shop. We’ve been there twice. There isn’t much of a restaurant to speak of, more like a kitchen with a patio. But the décor is very sunny, relaxing and airy. We came there as a group of 3 and again as a group of 7. Everyone enjoyed their food. The guacamole is very good. The salsa smells and tastes of freshly fire-grilled tomatoes. The corn chowder was very good, a little spicy and it was different than the normal style of corn chowder I’ve had elsewhere. The big burritos are very large, they can be difficult to eat because there are sauces drizzled on top of them so you can’t just pick them up in your hand. But they taste excellent. The tacos are very good. I loved the pan fried shrimp. All the food tasted fresh and delicious.

These tacos were pretty good, but not quite anything new or amazing. Living in San Francisco, there are tacos that are much better in almost every neighborhood. Of its a nice day, the patio is really enjoyable and there amount of salsa they have on display is impressive, but there tacos will definitely not blow you away.

Mediocre overpriced food and terrible service! I came with my family to eat here and all the staff was rude and disrespectful. My mother asked the server why they charge for tortilla chips(simple question since its FREE at most restaurants) and the server told her to go eat at home, its free there. The tortilla the tacos came in fell apart, the guacamole did not taste home made or fresh and the ceviche was not authentic … Please dont claim to be a real baja fish taco spot when you are not.

If you are in the Bay area this is a must stop… especially if its a nice day. This is a little taco shop that overlooks the harbor in Sausalito. The seating is mostly outdoors. The food is fantastic. What else could make it better? Nothing right? WRONG. Their owner Bree is absolutely fantastic. I live in KC so I do not hit this place often. When I am in SF I make a point to visit. Great food — super relaxing — warm when SF is cold… but they have odd hours in the winter because most of the seating is outside. Bree was quick to give me frequent status updates on their being open so we could plan our trip accordingly. The team working there is as nice as it gets. Super attentive and knowledgeable. I could not imagine going to SF and not stopping here to eat.

The kitschy, shack-like ambience makes me feel like I’m on vacation. It is very relaxing sitting on the outdoor patio while drinking a cerveza and taking in the waterfront atmosphere on warm sunny days. It is a little expensive for Mexican food. For example, Tortilla Chips & Guac are $ 7.50. That’s too steep for me. The chips look housemade. They’re a little thick and I prefer chips to be thin. The Sangria is sweet, fruity, and refreshing. The Margarita had salt on the rim, not bad. Mango Tango(Pineapple infused Soju w/splash of mango nectar) — very fruity sweet, and nice and strong. So, drinks(~$ 8) were alright. We had the Fish Taco(Taco de Pescado — baja style fish lightly battered and fried, w/shredded cabbage, carrot & pico de gallo) & Oyster Taco(Taco de Ostion — beer-battered & fried oysters topped w/chipotle crema, lettuce & pico de gallo on flour tortilla). The tacos(~$ 4) are okay, but flimsy with only one tortilla. So it was a little difficult to hold and eat. From a glance, I couldn’t tell which was which until I bit into them, since the fish and oyster are both battered. Since the oyster is fried, the outer part gets a little chewy and the center becomes a little chalky, but that tends to happen when oysters are cooked. Lil Donkey Burrito($ 7.50) — black beans, rice, tomato salsa, sour cream in flour tortilla, with chicken(+$ 3.25), + Wet Style w/enchilada sauce(+$ 2): Not bad, but there was a lot of tortilla and not enough filling. Parts of the burrito could have used more meat. It was considerably more expensive than other wet burritos I’ve had. Also, I’m not sure what makes their burritos«Cali-style» other than perhaps the ingredients are from CA? So basically I thought the food was okay, but a little expensive. I mainly just enjoyed drinks with a view of the bay.

After the upper body workout of a lifetime from kayaking, the fish taco craving was real so this is where we ended up. We got the guacamole & chips and the fish entrée that comes with beans, rice and 4 tortillas to share. I thought everything tasted amazing and the fish taco craving was happily satisfied. The fish was cooked with so much flavor and the portions were big enough to fill up two hungry kayakers. I have to take a star off though for no free refills on chips — how am I supposed to finish the rest of my guac?! Also really liked how they had a bunch of different hot sauces and their salsas were tasty.

Food is usually hit or miss at this location. Today it was a hit. I ordered the«lil donkey» wet burrito(w/the chipotle crema sauce). it was definitely tasty, but geez would it have hurt to spruce it up with a little garnish? a shred of lettuce?!? lol. the one thing I really dislike about this place is that they nickel and dime u for EVERYTHING!!! u may as well start adding a dollar to your bill for every step u take thru this restaurant before getting to your table. they’re so ridiculous about charging you for every little add on. the space of the restaurant is limited. so I feel like you’re always rubbing shoulders with someone. it’s very intimate and it feels like the restaurant should be beach side, instead it’s street side, but eh… I still can’t complain. I’d go back, but not too often. there are better places for Mexican food where they’d gladly refill your chip basket(at no cost) to finish the side of guac and refried beans you ordered.

I was hoping this place would have wow’d me but it didn’t. I understand now why they’re standing at a 3 star rating. From an outside appearance, this little restaurant looked interesting, pretty authentic! We were greeted once we arrived and was told to seat ourselves anywhere we wanted. We decided to sit out in the patio, which they had nicely covered because of the rain. There were also huge heaters to keep you warm no matter how cold/windy it is outside. That was a plus for me. I ordered the big donkey burrito and decided to try their spicy beans for +$ 1. I don’t know if I was able to taste how spicy it is to even tell whether it was worth the extra $ 1. The burrito itself was generously stuffed, but a bit tiny in length. Again, it was good, but I’ve had better. And for the cost($ 14) I could have definitely gotten something cheaper and more flavorful elsewhere. We also ordered chips, which were $ 3.50. It came with 2 sauces. Chips and guac were for $ 7.50. I’m glad we didn’t get the guac, because the chips weren’t amazing. It tasted a bit stale, but it could just be how the restaurants makes it. I would definitely snack on it, but not for $ 3.50. My friend ordered 4 tacos, because after all it is a taco shop, but they were all okay. Nothing special. I believe the tacos were $ 3 – 4 each. Overall, I’m not going to say don’t try this place! It’s good, but it won’t be making it to the top 3 taco shops on your list, if you’ve been to that many before :)

Obviously I ordered tacos from a taco shop, and they were every bit as delicious as I hoped. The taco Salsalito and the taco pescado were divine. The black bean soup warmed me up, as it was a tad cold out. We had to order the chips, but that was fine by us – they were homemade and tasty. The real star though was my pumpkin spice horchata! My bf got the regular horchata, and I’m certain he had order envy! Also, we appreciated the dog friendly tables near the sidewalk since we brought our whippet on our Sunday in Sausalito! Note: I’m a huge fan of Baja Mexican cuisine or Cali-mex, so I may be biased towards their food! I assume all the negative reviews are because those people prefer traditional Mexican cuisine, because I loved everything we ordered.

Cute and casual taco shop on Sausalito’s main drag offers yummy bites, mostly covered outdoor seating and partial views of that beautiful San Francisco Bay/Estuary. Counter seating offered indoors. Crispy fried fish tacos on 6″ soft tortillas, $ 3.95 each. Seafood-heavy ceviche, your choice of shrimp, fish or mixed, offered in snack size, $ 6, or share size, $ 15. Add avocado for 2 bucks. Both items were good, but I preferred the fish taco. Nothing going on in terms of plating presentation. What did I expect to accompany fish tacos, anyhow?!! Complimentary chips? Not at this place. You get complimentary salsa though. The red one had a nice smoky flavor. Drinks limited to beer and wine, and cocktails made with wine, not liquor. Beers offered include Lagunitas and Anchor Steam. There are plenty of pricier options around, so you’re dining on the cheap, relatively speaking! And you get that partial view of the bay! And you’re dining in Sausalito! Admittedly, I was hungry after this $ 30 «snack» for two. It was a good experience though. It’s not like anyone gave us a hard time for not ordering more. I plan to return for more of those yummy fried fish tacos. By the way, clean restroom, sort of important, as it’s adjacent to the covered dining section.

It’s funny. We were down here for a YEE and stumbled upon this tasty looking space — the honey and I have fond memories of both the drive and this Taco Shop. But it was only after having such a poor experience at Tac-Oh, that I got my rump in gear to review the fantastic experience we had! The long and short of it is, we LOVED our tacos. I had a taco de pollo which was spiced just perfectly and a carne asada, which I really enjoyed, but that was a touch too spiced for me. After the issues with the tortillas at Tac, I now am appreciate of how much soft tortillas make a difference in the standard taco fare. And how wait service when done right, just meshes with the experience, instead of seeming strange. The honey really adored his drink and I really enjoyed my beans and rice. We would definitely come back were we in the area — though it looked like the secret was out, this place was buzzing!

Sitting there, all I could think was, «why didn’t I just go to chipotle?» Burrito was bland and boring, the presentation was lacking, and the service was disconnected and unenthusiastic. Good spot for the tourists, but this local won’t be coming back. One star for quality, second for fun ambience.

love the name! cute décor catches your eye and draws you in. I stopped by for a mini repose after biking across the Golden Gate bridge. location is super convenient and service was friendly if a bit slow. — TACODEPESCADO — baja fish taco where you can actually taste the fish! meaning the piece was big enough and batter wasn’t overwhelming. unfortunately though the single layer of corn tortilla wasn’t enough to contain the toppings and was pretty messy to eat — TACOSALSALITO — shrimp sauteed in a garlicy wine sauce with onions and green peppers. the taco as a whole was super bare but the flavour wasn’t bad

Wow wow this place is not to be missed in Sausalito. The most adorable seaside taco shop with bright furnishings, cool breeze, friendly vibe and possibly the best guacamole I have ever tasted. I ordered the gluten free Shrimp taco + Rice and Beans taco and was very satisfied. They look small but they are mighty. Great upbeat reggae soundtrack and a place to chill and take in the magic of life before biking back(uphill!) across the Golden Gate Bridge to SF.
