Went to Savannah with my husband and another couple and stumbled upon this hidden gem! The antiques were beautiful and I could have spent hours in this historic home browsing and eventually purchasing a few items that had caught my eye. However, after meeting the owner, Mr. Raskin, I was more than happy to walk straight out the door. I have never met or interacted with a store owner as rude and hateful as Mr. Raskin. And no, we did not ask to go upstairs… I didn’t even know the upstairs was open to the public.

While on vacation in Savannah, my wife and I along with a few friends were walking around to different antique stores in the area. We came upon this store that was recommended by a very nice lady, to our surprise this is not a store I would recommend due to it being very cluttered and the owner was very rude! While looking at various items in the store we asked to see the upstairs part and the owner told us this was a store and not a site seeing tour. We gladly left and will never return.

While my wife and I are not huge spenders when in comes to antiques, we browse and spend money. Normally it’s smaller items but we BUY nonetheless. Mr. Raskin was extremely rude with us. He told us this was not a tour house, it was an antique shop. Sir, antiques are a rough business. I suggest you treat every customer with courtesy. I had money to spend today.

We love to shop antique stores. More often than not, we find something to buy. We walked into this place excitedly and anxious to find that special something we couldn’t live without. We weren’t here for 5 minutes before the owner, Mr. Raskin, was so rude to us that we just left. We asked to see the upstairs and he told us it was not open. I wonder why he let all those other older people go up then? He went on to tell us that this was not a tour, it was an antique store! Well Mr. Raskin, we went out of our way to find your store and we were more than prepared to spend money! Nonetheless, we left at your request and visited a few other antique stores where we DID end up purchasing several items. Too bad your rude attitude lost you a nice sell!

we re a young couple but yet antique collectors in our own level and obviously not good enough for this gentleman to be courteous towards a customer. We went here 2 years ago and was awed by the building and interior overall but was definitely disappointed by Mr Raskin’s attitude. How can you purchase something if he doesnt even bother to give you a price? Last saturday we gave it another chance since we were in Savannah again. I guess his atitude only got worse. We were not allowed on the upper floors even though it was wide open. Please people, I dont care how much you like a piece, do not buy from this gentleman. People like him just doesnt deserve to run such a business. what a shame considering the building and the pieces he has.

Very old, unrestored home full of actual antiques — not the stuff you typically see in an «antique store.» Almost every piece is over 100 years old and costs $$$$. I found it to be dingy and not that fun to browse all the dirty old furniture. As others have said, it feels creepy and haunted inside, even during the daytime. It is a unique place for sure, just not for me.

Worth a trip just to see what an unrestored, decrepit mansion looks like. I hope one day soon the Preservation Society gets a hold of this place and restores it before it’s too late. There was no ownership, or anyone else for that matter, during the entire time we explored the 3 floors. The place is packed with large pieces of furniture, paintings, chandeliers etc. If there are ghosts in Savannah, I expect they’d be in this home.

If these walls could speak… what stories they would tell. On a cloudy drizzly Savannah Saturday as we stepped into this four story antique filled sadly deteriorating mansion we also stepped back in time — 100’s of years. This place should be visited as a museum filled with furniture and pictures /painting of all shapes and sizes from another era. Religious statues with eyes that follow. Old books and rugs with dust that seems just as old. A doll’s bed with brass posts unfortunately already sold… My wife — who loves this stuff — was in awe. Other visitors we came across felt the same. Each floor bring more surprises… each floor seems more haunted. Are hauntings real — I would not want to be in this house alone during the night — or day for that matter… An incredible visit.

Great store with a lot of character and timeless pieces. Was worth every second of my visit. Alex was very helpful and welcoming. Relaxed environment where none of the sales people get gimmicky and jump at you for no reason, which I appreciate. Even the maintenance staff is mannerly! I will definitely consider buying from here for my furniture needs.

Alex Raskin may be a well known antique dealer in Savannah, but he has no class! My husband and I stopped by today to look at his shop and he simply stood at his counter in the store after making eye contact with us. He obviously saw us standing outside waiting for him to answer the door. Not sure what his problem is but I do know one thing for sure– he has NOCLASS and we will never go back there again. Wow the nerve of some people!

A very inspiring collection. 4 floors of brilliance. All the pieces they’ve picked are incredible. Prices are on the high side, but he’s willing to bargain, which I appreciate. He was very friendly with us and had no problem with my dog and 2 kids venturing thru the piles of beautiful antique furnishings. I also appreciate being taken as a serious collector. Bcuz I dress in tshirt and shorts and am on the younger-side of an antique buyer stereotype, I’m rarely taken seriously when in an antique shop and it makes me nuts, that being said, I was treated with kindness and taken seriously as a potential collector at Alex’s and that kind of kindness goes a long way with me. We’ll be purchasing many large pieces from Alex’s for our 1882 Italianate home in Hannibal, MO in the very near future. The home is also very incredible and we were told it’s the largest mansion in Savannah.

The collection of antiques is beyond anything I have experienced. Unless, of course, you visit Jere’s Antiques on Bay Street. The fact that this(at one time) grand home is being used as a warehouse is heartbreaking. After a while, one stops noticing the antiques and is painfully aware of the magnificent«crumbling» architecture. I left there heartbroken that this grand home is in such decline. And, because of the asking prices of Mr. Raskin’s antiques, I also left there without making a purchasing. Mr. Raskin, restore the home and«showcase» your antiques!

I’m not even gonna try to avoid cliches; stepping in here is like taking a step back in time. Prepare for the onslaught of four stories packed floor to ceiling with antiques and furniture. But when you think of the floors in this house, consider that it’s around 300 years old. Oh, you thought 10 foot ceilings was a luxury? This place’s ceilings in the first few floors must be at least 15 feet high. Now why would we waste that much space for head room? Trust me, it doesn’t go to waste. The furniture that wouldn’t fit in half of our 20th and 21st century homes actually fits in here. While the price range is certainly what you’re imagining, the house is worth just taking a walk through. Think of it as a museum spanning hundreds of years of European, Colonial and American history and entry is F-R-E-E free! Take a moment to stand in awe beneath the rafters of this house and imagine the lengthy history it saw and the kinds of parties and people that inhabited this space. If you’re the type to feel affected by the supernatural and you like the feeling, definitely take a walk through here. And honestly if I was overflowing cash and had a big house to fill you can bet I’d be back here to shop.

The amount of antiques is mindblowing. 4 or 5 stories in this 19th century mansion to explore. Every floor is packed with amazing pieces from victorian to Edwardian eras and beyond. Equally pleasing to me was the mansion itself, in a non-reconditioned state it has ALOT of character. Prices on most pieces were out of my league but still worth the views. Highly recommend walking through this large and unique antique store.
