Folklorico is one of our favorite shops in Savannah. With two floors of exotic items from around the world, reasonable priced and to most anyone’s taste. I’ve found gifts for the most difficult to please and wonderful pieces of jewelry for just the right occasion. I’ve shopped there for years(even at their prior location on Jones Street) and have always found the owners Heidi and Joe to be very knowledgeable and to care deeply about Fair Trade. Most of the items in the shop are inexpensive to moderately priced but nothing ‘pricey’. I’ve recommended Folklorico to friends and especially to visitors to Savannah and all have thanked me for the suggestion!

I love local art. Folklorico lulled me in with their amazing vibes, pulsating from the doorway. Go upstairs and check out an entire room of tapestries, sculptures, pillows, and accessories. If you’re looking for a unique table piece of gift for a friend, this place has all handmade and unique items. They’re on the pricer side, but art is worth a splurge. While in Savannah, don’t forget to check out Folklorico. It’s nestled in between squares, and might be out of the way from the other big shops on Broughton. But I’m sure your honey would appreciate a unique mineral stone made by someone with love for what they’re doing over a shotglass from City Market. Or get both. Yea. Just get both.

Follow up to owner comment: Providing a stool for me wasn’t my idea of picking your brain. People work a lot harder than this in a normally sized city. And I know plenty about retail and greed. Since you appear passionate about artisan art, I’d love to see you travel to Haiti where they make these drum pieces and see what kind of conditions they’re working in. Give us your«brick and mortar» sad story. They are merely benchmarks. I would pay retail prices to support local businesses, i APPROVE of, as is my right as a customer.

Fun and funky little store to browse or find a unique jewelry or item for the home. Some things were a bit too pricey for me but most items appeared to be quality and some were supporting fair trade organizations. Found some cool earrings for $ 24. This place is worth checking out(don’t miss upstairs!).

When I first when in I thought to myself — uh oh. Another place selling knockoff«folk» stuff from faraway places. When I found was a much more thoughtful and interesting selection of merchandise, and it became clear that the owner takes a lot of pride in this store. Ended up spending about a half-an-hour in there and came home with some really fantastic greeting cards and knick-knacks for the house.

I was happy to stumble upon this store. Everything they sell has style, substance, a story. I bought a set of glasses from Mexico as a wedding gift. Pricier than something you’d pick up at, say, Target, but more meaningful, too. All merchandise is fair trade, meaning whoever made what you’re buying received a living wage for their work.
