Beautiful local fabric store. I go there frequently to pick up undeyed fabrics to paint on or dye myself. They are always very helpful and almost always have what I need. I highly recommend.

I really, really want to love Fabrika. Its cute, biking distance from my house, and the people who work there are generally friendly and helpful. However, I find that Fabrika is unbelievably expensive and has very few options. I know, they market themselves as selling fine fabrics so they charge accordingly, but it seemed like even the printed cotton was pricey. I absolutely hate that I drive to Joanns instead of patronizing this adorable little independent shop, but when you are on a budget its just not a option.

The old location on Bull Street was really cute, but the one on Liberty is absolutely beautiful. There’s a lot of cool fabric here. I sew a LOT and have done so since the early 90s and my experience was that the fabric is not Joann’s quality like another poster said — plenty of high end quilting cottons(Michael Miller, Westminster, etc.) I don’t sew garments(I make quilts) so maybe it’s different for the other types of fabric — I generally stick to cottons and I was pretty happy with the selection. Everyone is super friendly and helpful here, and if you don’t want to be bothered while you’re feeling up a bolt of fabric, then you don’t have to be — they get it and will leave you alone. They merchandise all their products really well — lots of cute displays, etc. But it’s worth going in, even if you don’t sew, just to check out the gorgeous building that it’s in.

If you don’t sew a lot or you are new to sewing then I am sure this place will impress you. I have been sewing for over 50 years. The smallness of the store didn’t bother me. I went around looking at the fabric and feeling it. I learned long ago if it doesn’t feel good to my hand on the bolt I don’t want it on my body. I found the fabric quality to be sub par. It truly reminded me of what a Joann Fabric stocks. However, the prices per yard to me were on the cheap side. So as usual you get what you pay for. I always buy very high end fabric that at minimum starts at $ 30 yard and up. Maybe the better fabric is in the back or special order. Search continues for my type of fabric.

Shaky start to begin with, for some reason my GPS took me to their old location and I was walking up and down the block for a few minutes trying to find it… but a quick search on my phone gave me their new address. It wasn’t a long walk and it was a very nice day so I wasn’t really put off. Walking into the shop, you definitely get that ‘cute’ vibe coming off the walls. I liked walking around and feeling the fabrics and asking the person working that day a bunch of questions about almost everything in the store. She was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about everything in the store. I took my time shopping around and got to see a couple of customers walk through with questions about their own personal projects. It was great to see that her get out from behind the counter and get hands on with a bunch of fabrics, giving out really neat bits of advice like, «You need to sew this part here like this first, because if you just try that without sewing this part like this, it’ll come out looking like shit». Sounds harsh when I type it, but the customer really appreciated that little tidbit and I learned something by listening in. There is only so much a person can learn off reading a book or watching a video, having someone to go up and ask is definitely one of the greatest selling points of this bright little shop. They shop has a good selection of fabric and a very knowledgeable staff, what’s not to like?

I’ve absolutely loved working with Fabrika over my years at SCAD. Ashleigh and Emily were amazing and more than accommodating when I needed to order materials. Their fabric selection is on-point; with a range of quilting as well as more luxury fabrics. They’re always on the lookout for new materials to bring into their store. Also, their leather selection is great and if they don’t have something they’ll do their absolute best to source it for you. They have a great selection of home accessories as well in case you aren’t super adept when it comes to sewing. Their hours can vary by the seasons so it’s good to add them on Facebook to stay updated on their winter/summer schedule. During the school year(September-June) they are open seven days a week which is fantastic. All in all I have loved shopping at and working with Fabrika for my projects and I really can’t recommend them enough!

Fabrika was always an awesome little store, but since moving to Bull Street, it’s become even better! They have the most amazing selection of unique fabrics, all served up in a bright and airy space. Ashleigh and Emily are so helpful and really listen to what you need before making suggestions. If you are a full fledged seamstress or just looking for a fun weekend craft project, go to Fabrika for your sewing and fabric needs. It’s the best!

Ok so I don’t know much about fabric, but I took my Mom here and she is. The layout was neat and the storekeeper was friendly and very helpful. She also picked up on me and offered me a selection of sports magazines to supplement the lack of testosterone in the building. My Mom was delighted at all the fabric and got her selection with ease.

I don’t understand, Fabrika, why don’t you adhere to your business hours? This is the second time, I tried to visit you… You should know that it is very important for businesses to have a clearly posted hours online and adhere to them. Your address is wrong and I guess so are the hours. Please update so you can keep your future customers informed and happy.

I truly do not know what I would do without this store! Everything from fabrics, to notions and even parts for my sewing machine! If there is ever anything I am looking for that is not in stock, the owners are glad to special order it. I buy items from this store that no large fabric store will even think about carrying. I also appreciate that the owners are glad to help me with a project, answer all my questions, and are very friendly. As far as prices, you get what you pay for! The fabrics they carry are not wal-mart special, so don’t expect to pay 2.00/yard for some cheap, crappy, junk that is going to fall apart on you. This store is for those who care about the quality of their work!

I love shopping here every time I’m in Savannah. I strongly support independently owned businesses. I always find something interesting and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I’m still new to sewing and can use all the help I can get. I wish the little black dog was there like when I shopped the first time. He was cute. I recommend stopping by if you like to sew or craft

Fabrika is a super cute store! Prices are a little high and I can usually find them somewhere else for considerably less but being downtown Savannah I perfectly understand. At first I was usually making a trip to the store once a week but every time I am in there the dark headed girl who runs it is NOT very nice. Shes usually rude and I find that not so professional. My advice would be… Have a positive attitude and be kind to your customers!

Fabrika is the only place in Savannah to get a lot of types of better apparel fabrics and PFD fabrics for dyers and printers. They have some very very nice woolens, silks, and silk blends, for example. They also have a small selection of leathers. I rarely shop there for these fabrics, though, because many of them are available cheaper purchased online, even including the shipping. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course! They’re tiny, they can only get so good of deals from their wholesalers, and they have to make a profit. How else are they supposed to stay in business? But unless I need something right away, it just makes sense for me to order it myself as it’s still notably cheaper even with shipping. Perhaps once they’ve been in business a few more years, they will have stronger relationships with their fabric suppliers, and will be able to have more competitive prices for their PFD silks and similar fabrics. I love to shop local when I can, but I might not have been able to afford to complete some projects if I got it all here :( They DO have a lot of supplies for SCAD fashion and fibers students that, if they can be gotten elsewhere locally, the price is tremendously jacked up in other places. The biggest example is the«notcher» that is used to mark patterns as they would be for industrial production. It’s available at Ex Libris for ~$ 52 or for ~$ 17 at Fabrika. They also have many more feet and similar accessories for Juki machines than other places in Savannah, and those are also very reasonably priced. The ladies who own and run the business are very friendly, helpful, and generally provide good overall customer service, in my experience.
