What a great little gem! My husband and I first vacation to Savannah. We decided to get a beer and something eat and find this unique German restaurant. The staff was so helpful, attentive and friendly. The food was amazing!!! Fresh and made to order. We wanted to try some ciders and the suggested cider was so good we bought ALL they had in stock lol! What a great time! Definitely recommend and will be back too visit again!

Everything is outstanding but if I had to pick my favorite highlights it would be the comfortable atmosphere, the waitstaff the food and the beer list. Amazing on tap imports from Belgium and Germany, it kinda sounds like I got paid to write this, that’s how much I like this place.

Food, great. The way their forks felt in my mitts, indomitable. Never could I excogitate an eating utensil that could make or break a meal. The way the sheen solid stainless contoured to my (I just saw Rick Flair outside) palms was nothing I’ve ever felt. Craving traditional German food with a chic twist or not, do yourself a favor and hold one of these fantastic forks before it’s too late. Can I get two claps and a Rick Flair

The Bier Haus is the definition of «Hidden Gem.» It’s tucked in the corner of a plaza in the corner of a shopping center and offers a taste of the deutschland. All of the standards are here and well-represented: schnitzel, spaetzle, sauerkraut, and sausages as well as a few originals. Its difficult to find a menu item that isn’t recommended. And lets not forget the beer list. The Bier Haus has an extensive selection of German and European brews for any looking to indulge.

This is a really nice pub. The location is awful, tucked way back in the interior of a strip center, makes it hard to find and hard to get in to the actual place. Once you arrive however, it is very nice inside. There are plenty of tables and a nice bar. They specialize in Belgian and German drafts, with some added American. There are plenty of bottled beers and wine as well. The food is German. We had some fried asparagus as an appetizer, very tasty. The sausages were tasty and accompanied by some very nice sides. Service was very good. Overall this place is a winner.

Great welcome and server from ms. C. Expansive bier selection limited due to SUper Bowl drinking, but still great selection. Fish(thick cod) with capers quite plentiful with fresh veggies and sweet/sour kraut, spaetzle was a bit flat/doughy.Pork chop was awesome and meal for two… great, well presented and perfectly cooked. This is a gran place, great chef and owner with a wonderful sense of combining German flavor with Asian flair. We be bad everytime we are in Savannah.

This was some of the most delicious food I’ve ever had. The spätzle was amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone. I can’t wait to get back here. Good service, good beer selection also.

We ate there tonight. The food was delicious and the service was spot on. It’s a little hard to find, but definitely worth it. We live in Savannah and will be back.

The best craft beer gastro pub in Savannah hands down! It’s off the beaten path but so worth it. Incredible selection of beers that you can’t find at other places in town. The food is great. We had the mussels and pom frite. Also tried the bratwurst with spätzle and sauerkraut. Black Forest chocolate cake decadent! The owner and staff are very knowledgeable and fun. Check them out!

From the end of June 2015: I am not reviewing the food or the drink. I am annoyed that my husband and I tried to visit this place twice and they were closed on both occasions. After walking about 20 blocks to get there the first time, thinking all the while of all the awesome german fair and the doors are closed! Website hours did not match the hours posted here which did not match the hours on the door. And talk about tough to find. It’s hidden in a corner of a room that has a bunch of doors. weird. again, annoyed.

I don’t really give in my reviews especially having to make an account and such. But man, this place is outstanding! What makes it even more special is that it’s pretty secluded from the crazy downtown scene. But great location! Let me start by saying the food was the best german food I’ve had in America since I’m a German native… The service? Absolutely amazing. I went in for lunch with my buddies that were visiting Savannah and I forgot her name(very sweet and Cute asian girl) was attentive and kept us informed about the beers and what not. Definitely coming back soon!

Excellent food and nice atmosphere. Service was a little short staffed when we were there, but they make a great effort.

The schnitzel and the beer selection are outstanding and unique offerings for downtown Savannah. It’s hidden in a strip mall behind a real estate office.

My wife and I along with our son and his girlfriend stumbled upon the Bier Haus while walking from our parking spot towards another nearby restaurant we had in mind. My son and I,(who are adventurous diners), immediately pressed my wife, and his girlfriend(who are not) into giving it a try: «German food, really?» The menu items we ordered were the combo of schnitzel and bratwurst w/2 sides, the Mushroom/Artichoke in Zucchini noodles, and the spatzel with beef. All of us came away very pleasantly surprised and satsfied. We all said we would come back again, and bring friends. Very nice atmosphere, not too loud, not too busy, and excellent, helpful service.

I was here August 21, 2014. I had dinner and beer samples at the bar. It was outstanding. I love German food and Belgian beer. This place was a little slice of Heaven in my book. Dinner: Schnitzel was outstanding. Nice and crispy and tasted fantastic. Beers: Great selection and outstanding. Service: I had amazing service. Brittnay(bartender) and Ashley(waitress) were both fantastic. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves great beer and great German cuisine.

Stopped by for lunch. Place was almost empty. Server was young but professional. Casual dining, I don’t recall any background music. My wife had the pork schnitzell which was fine, I went with the bratwurst — I’ve had better. The spaetzle as a side was very nice. Sauerkraut was good. Potato salad was undercooked. Once I move to Savannah, this place will be a regular on my list. You need a break from seafood and fried chicken sometimes. To be honest, I haven’t found any really good fried chicken here just yet.

My husband and myself have been here only twice and for lunch, but it’s a tasty spread. It’s a pub atmosphere but very clean. The staff’s friendly. The beer selection is okay. The crinkled paper menu wasn’t too appealing especially since it’s supposed to highlight it’s beers. I wish it had more interesting selections and more ciders. My husband and myself have tried the bratwurst, mushroom and cheese sausage and polish sausage. Very good, especially with the spicy mustard it comes with. I have also gotten the portobello sandwich, very moist and flavorful. And I have also gotten a beef sandwich that was very dry. I’m not sure if it’s just a lunch lull but it’s been empty both times we went. Also, I wish they had a kids menu. We just order our son sides, but there isn’t a huge selection in sides either. Kinda lame, schnitzles… lol

I went back yesterday and tried the food this time(along with the beer). We got all of the appetizers except the zesty olives, and they were all really good. Standouts were the mushroom and walnut pâté and the fried artichokes. I also got the schweine schnitzel, which was nice and crispy. The sauerkraut was pretty good as well and paired nicely with the schnitzel. As for the beer, my favorites are: Kaizerbrau, Rochefort Trappist, and the Westmalle Trippel. Great stuff! Service was good also, and Keith is a great waiter.

The beer list was great and tasty. The food was a nice change of pace from other restaurants in town. Schnitzle and Brauts, bacon potato salad, bier battered asparagus, etc. Great meal. The server was very helpful and friendly. I’ve been by this place numerous times but never knew they were open. They have an open sign inside the shopping center, but NEEDONEOUTSIDE! The hostess was chatting at the bar all night, as people poked in to see if anyone was there… kind of humorous as we had to get the waiters attention a couple times so the people could get seated. Personally I really hope this place makes it, but their lack of signage is going to lose them a lot of business. More German food and bier for me!
