Spent two nights here, and couldn’t wait to leave. First off, you have to pay $ 7.50 per night for parking. The pressure in the shower and sink was terrible! The room we stayed in(214) smelled like moth balls and there were fruit flies(or something of the sort) in the room. The bed comforters were stained and old. There were stains in the tub and on one of the chairs. This place needs some serious upgrading! No breakfast(only coffee and donuts) BUT, It is near the historic district… Inexpensive(40 $ a night on groupon)… And pet friendly, Which are pros, but that’s about it. I would have rather paid more to stay at a nicer hotel. We almost left after checking in, but since there were no bed bugs, we decided to tough it out for the 2 nights.

When planning our honeymoon road trip a few months ago, it was the Thunderbird that brought Savannah to my attention. They were offering a Groupon & I thought it was adorable. I will say that when purchasing the Groupon I ran into a few issues. I called first to see if I could use it on weekends. I was told yes, but all the rooms that were available on Groupon were already booked. I was bummed, but when I saw it was still listed on Groupon a month later I decided to try & book it. I’m so glad it went through and that I didn’t listen to the person who answered the phone that evening. When purchasing some souvenirs in the gift shop the employee I dealt with wasn’t aware of the Unilocal 10% check in offer either. No biggie, but if you’re going to offer online deals like that I would make all staff aware. It’s so cute & walking distance to everything. We had no problem with our room. It was clean & what you would expect from a little retro motel. I immediately started snapping photographs. I also loved how they play oldies music throughout the parking lot. My husband & I fell in love with Savannah & will definitely stay at the Thunderbird Inn again.
