My husband and I dined here Valentines night. While the ambiance was good — the service and food was just OK. I had the Filet mignon and my husband ordered the rabbit. I was disappointed when my steak arrived and it was accompanied by French fries. The steak was just OK. Nothing special and a bit dry. I tasted his rabbit and again it was nothing special. Service was slow but it was Valentines Day. After spending $ 150 for the meal we both agreed that eating here again would not be in our future.

My husband and I had the pleasure of eating here last night and I can honestly say it was one of the best meals we have had in Savannah since moving here two years ago. My husband ordered the mushroom crepes which were amazing and my petit filet was cooked and seasoned perfectly. We shared the Crème brûlée for dessert and it was delicious. My only complaints would be service was a bit slow to start off with and we specifically asked our server if they offered just a cheese platter(they had a meat and cheese platter on the menu but my husband is a vegetarian). She told us they don’t have one and directed us to the cauliflower appetizer. We later found a cheese plate on the dessert menu. I feel like she could have offered us that one since we asked about it specifically. However, we did have an enjoyable experience overall.

Disappointing Valentines dinner. I made reservations for 830pm on Saturday night. Yes it was Valentines weekend. I understand. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. Ok fine. Not too bad. Restaurant was packed solid. Everyone working there was running their tails off. Were seated in a corner next to a 6 top and 4 top all with the same server. He indicated that things are running a bit slower due to the holiday, which we expected. No worries. I ordered water and my BF ordered a beer. After about 15 minutes, the beer arrived but still no water. Our waiter had already visited both our neighboring tables at least once(or more) times without checking on us or taking our dinner order. A few minutes later, he found his way past his other tables back to us to take our order. My BF indicated that some water would be nice. Waiter nearly did a face palm as he realized he never brought it for us. Within a couple minutes I finally had some water. By Now, we have been at the restaurant nearly an hour and haven’t ordered a meal yet. Time to order, bone in ribeye for my BF and Scallops for me. Food came out in a relatively timely manner. The steak look incredible. Charred in all the right places(until you turned the steak over, no charring). The bite I had was delicious. After a couple of bites, the MR steak was quickly turning very rare and there was never a bone found in out bone in ribeye.(I’m pretty sure he didn’t eat it.) unfortunately he was not able to eat much of the steak as it was not even warm, it was so rare, and very fatty. The mushroom addition was perfectly prepared and delicious. The scallops were good from the couple of bites I was able to take. Unfortunately, I was severely dehydrated and couldn’t eat.(Luckily I had some water, although we had to ask for refills on the carafe) The server noticed that my BF didn’t seem satisfied with his meal and questioned. He brought the steak back to the chef who agreed with our description of it being very rare.(Perhaps a mix up happened). He also told the manager who came over and offered another steak. No thanks. He took the meal off the bill. Thank you! Overall, during a non-holiday weekend I would expect the service to be much better, which was my biggest complaint for this restaurant. I am all about service. Once things calmed down a bit, the service improved. The food was ok; Although not as described on the menu and not prepared to order. I would not count them out completely. There is definitely potential there.

There often is a roar for a new«hot» place. This is a surprise to find in an embassy suites hotel. Far better restaurant than you’d expect in such a location. BUT it is not as amazing as the reviews suggest. We went for restaurant week. Place was packed. High energy vibe. Very nice atmosphere. Food was good but not 5 star quality. Had the escargot pie as app. It was good but a bit too sweet. Almost onion soup with escargot added. We ordered mussels with curry. The sauce was very good and large order of muscles. But not amazing. We also had the salmon roll(pieces of salmon on rice sushi roll). Actually quite good. Dinner — Cornish hen cordon bleu. Dry. Nice presentation. My wife had the sea bass. I’m not a sea bass lover but it was good. Dessert was a berry tart w vanilla ice cream — also very good. Large wine list. Tasted 1 wine before deciding on 2 others. Good but not over the top. Staff was excellent but at times not around when we wanted to ask for something — often waiting 10 or more minutes and food getting cold. Place was very busy so I’m sure that’s why. They have valet parking — valet never came out(he was inside) when we pulled up so I drove across to the parking lot myself. All in all it was a very nice enjoyable night. BUT when a place is getting hyped as amazing and the new hot place — not in my book. Might go back but not overly anxious to. Have been to 2 other«new» places in past few weeks that were far better.

We went during restaurant week where you got three courses for $ 30.00. I had the Escargot Pie, Steak Au Poivre and Crème Brûlée Cheese Cake. My wife got the Sushi, Sea Bass and Napoleon Tuxedo Mousse Cake. Everything was very good, except for the Sea Bass, which my wife said lacked flavor. The waitress was great and kept refilling my Diet Coke, which is always a big plus for me!

Fantastic sushi! I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the rolls, large for the price and generous with the fish. We also ordered edamame, local craft beer, and a cider. Staff was attentive but not pushy, very prompt and knowledgeable. I have a shellfish allergy and they took great care to make sure the regular fish I ordered would not be cross-contaminated. I would eat the nigiri again in a heartbeat, and the dragon roll was perfectly spicy and super filling. So good! Parents ordered more traditional fare, a lamb shank and the short ribs. Both were very happy with their dinner, sides and all. Probably the best attached-to-a-hotel restaurant I’ve ever had the pleasure of dining in.

The scallops dish was divine! Very creamy sauce, sun-dried tomatoes added that little«something-something» to equal perfection! Wine was excellent(7 Falls Merlot 2012), excellent and personable server(Jeff). Definitely worth the visit! On my top of the list for the next Savannah visit!

Wanting to go somewhere that we hadn’t been before, we decided on coming here. Not to long ago you would’ve needed a uzi & bulletproof vest in order to come to where this place is located pass sundown. Well you no longer need a vest you will need a empty stomach if you plan on visiting the lovely restaurant. I used to use this rule of thumb if it’s in a restaurant is located in a hotel the food normally sucks. Not so with this place from appetizer to main course to dessert and everything in between this place was a sure fire hit! The service was outstanding, even when I want to switch tables & our glasses stayed fill the entire time. It’s a bit upscale but you can still walk in with jeans & a T-shirt and feel right at home because it’s located in a hotel. Want to celebrate a special occasion or are you just looking for someplace different if that’s the case, this place is a must!

A couple of demerits first. We were seated at one of four tables separated from the rest of the dining room. The design of the room leaves a large open space at one end that is exposed to the entrance. Odd that a restaurant that postponed its opening for more than a year due to construction delays should suffer from this shoddy layout. The north entrance needs to be shielded from the dining area by a wall or folding screen so diners near it don’t feel like they are in the parking lot and can look under the adjoining bar at stuff that should never be within view of diners. Otherwise a nice room. Another minus is the way too extensive wine list. Takes much too long to work through it. That being said, the selection is excellent and prices for wines and bar drinks are very reasonable. Food is uniformly good, although I would avoid the Pork Brittany unless you’re a fan of way too much fat and too stringy a texture. Service is professional and attentive, but can be too quick unless you advise you’re not in a rush. Staff is still learning but gives every indication that they will have it right in the long term. This is more of a $$$ price point place but worth it. Give it a couple more months before visiting.

Amazing fresh oysters and good variety of wines. The desserts were delicious and aesthetically appealing. Unfortunately we did not have time eat an entrée but highly recommend it if you are looking for an elegant but not stuffy French cuisine restaurant. The best part of our trip was our bartender Corey. She was extremely attentive and made us feel at home. The service was fast and appreciative. Shockingly the prices were not too crazy.

I had the fattest pork shank ever. Was not edible and the manager promptly removed it from our bill. All else at the table were very pleased with their meal. Lamb shank cooked perfectly and oh so tender. Steak frites cooked to temp, a fish dish looked lovely. Desserts very tasty. Sweet server but not horribly attentive. Took a half hour for our cocktails and another half hour for dessert. Dinner promptly served. Ambience is lacking a tad. Lights are too bright and there is an echo. Really feels like you are at Embassy Suites restaurant. We will give them a second shot. I really want that pork shank… but falling off the bone.

Can’t believe it’s finally open! My husband and I have been looking forward to this restaurant to open ever since we dined in Charleston on vacation last year. We got a chance to eat here this weekend, and it didn’t disappoint! Curry mussels, lyoneese salad and potato soup were great starters. For my meal I chose the short rib and my husband had the rabbit. I was pleasantly surprised how great rabbit tastes! Portions were a good size, the server boxed the rest for us to take home. While we were definitely too full for dessert, I could pass up the vacherin with Leopold’s ice cream, delish! I enjoyed every minute, can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic food and fantastic service! I really enjoyed the variety on the menu at 39 Rue de Jean. Being a picky eater, it was nice to know I could get edamame and a nice steak at the same restaurant. My husband was a little more adventurous, sampling foi gras and the fish special. Everything was delicious. The bar staff did a great job recommending wine pairings for me and local brews for my husband. Management assured that everything we needed was provided for! All in all, Savannah is lucky to have such a great addition to the restaurant scene.

The staff was awesome and so was the ambiance. The food and desert was on point. I would highly recommend that everyone make a visit. If I’m not mistaken the only thing was missing from cocktail list was martini’s but it didn’t matter when everything else was perfect!

The long-awaited 39 Rue de Jean is a welcome addition to Savannah’s many fine restaurants. We decided to have a special meal last night at 39 Rue de Jean, which has been open for just a month or so. And we are very pleased that we did so. We had read the few reviews that spoke ill of the manager and the service but we wanted to give it a try. We enjoyed a wonderful meal, beginning with a shared plat de charcuterie et fromage. We selected a wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon region — Domaine Lafage«Cuvee Nicolas», which perfectly matched our entrée. Often we will have two different entrees but tonight we both decided to have their special entrée: a full rack of lamb with sweet potatoes au gratin and haricots vert. The lamb was done to perfection! Delicious! When arrived the manager was standing near the reception desk and he greeted us warmly while the hostess seated us. At first, we were taken to a booth for two and we asked if a larger booth were available. She and the manager seemed immediately agreeable and we were taken to a very nice booth. Later, we posed a question to the server about the wine we had chosen. The manager came by and we had a very nice conversation. The wine was fine and we were impressed by his attentiveness. The waitstaff — we were fortunate to have Alicia as our server — was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The long-awaited 39 Rue de Jean is a welcome addition to Savannah’s many fine restaurants. It has a very comfortable bistro feel and their very large menu includes lighter fare, as well. We will definitely be back!

We have been waiting patiently for this restaurant to be opened for over a year due to the fact that the Charleston location is fabulous. Needless to say I can’t say the same about the Savannah location. The mussels we received were under cooked and not edible. The duck confit was okay but the bed of hard lentils and raw green beans that it was served with were disappointing at best. The truffle potato soup had no salt and the onion soup tasted like it was from a can. This is not at all what one would expect for a $ 100 price tag. I guess to get good French food a trip to Charleston is necessary.

Let me start by saying that the food is good. I had the scallops, a really nice salad, and barbecue Eel nigiri(two pieces for five bucks, sweet!).The scallops were the star of the show, but they were so heavy I couldn’t finish even half of it. The décor is trying to look, «authentic», and largely falling short in that department. For some reason, I had it in my mind that this was a, «fine dining» restaurant, it’s not. It had what appeared to be a pressed tin ceiling in the bar. I asked if that’s what they it really was and was told, «no, its something cheap». The music was a nice low tone jazz. It was too bright for my preference throughout the restaurant. The most unfortunate thing about the restaurant was the manager. After we were seated, we were left completely unattended by anyone for about 10 minutes. We arrived at 7PM, so the rush had not started yet. I had to actually flag down the manager and ask if he could have a server stop by. I think that it was a common theme because the table behind us was having their entire meal comped because they must’ve been left for a very long time and not said anything. At this point, I would say the restaurant was about 50% occupied. Once we got a server, all became better. The server, and everyone that delivered all of the food items, were pleasant and friendly. After I asked the manager for someone to come and take care of us, we never saw him again. I feel like the prices were fair for what we had. However, I feel like the location, and an environment that feels a little«cookie cutter» will probably prevent me from returning. I know this sounds a little rough for a restaurant that just opened, but I expected more, given the pre-opening reviews and that they had a template to work off of. All of this said, I think that it is worth trying to see if it is your thing.

Call me Ms. Cleo, but I foresee this place being one of the hottest new restaurants in town. If you love French food and mixology, make your reservation now. I started dinner with a champagne cocktail called The Pearl. It had lovely hints of lavender which was absolutely refreshing. The menu is so impressive, you’re going to need a few minutes to decide on where to start. Thankfully, my server Jeffery was amazing and very helpful. He saw me leaning toward the Fois Gras and assured me it was the best decision. Boy, was he right. The goose liver was pan seared and very tender. Every bite melted in my mouth. The portion was small, so I tried to pinch off as little as possible to make the meal last! Then, as though clockwork, my duck confit arrived. The duck was seasoned perfectly and surrounded with fennels and mushrooms in a port wine reduction sauce. This sounds so fancy when typed, but it definitely lives up to the hype. Jeffery of course helped me make that decision too. He was so passionate about everything on the menu; I’m pretty sure he could’ve convinced me I was not in Savannah, but actually in a chic Parisian restaurant. I’m still convinced. Bravo 39 Rue de Jean. I know you’ll be here to stay.
