The lady and gentleman the greeted us at the door we’re very nice. They showed us to our seat and he wished me happy anniversary. Our waitress Emily came over and the nightmare begins. She was rude from the get-go to the end and it ruined it. I was going to speak to the lady and the gentleman but they were busy and I just didn’t feel it was the right time. She shouldn’t work in this industry.

This was my second time here. I went back because it was good the first time which was two years ago. It was not good tonight. We ordered a filet with bernaise and duck and sausage in white beans. The bernaise when served was almost cold and coagulated. The filet was thin and largely tasteless. While the frites were good they were overdone with truffle sauce. The duck was the hit of the other dish. However the sausage was tasteless. Equally disappointing were the white beans that were undercooked and tasted as if they were seasoned with barbecue sauce. Overall a very poor excuse for what is priced as a high end meal. Definitely overrated.

Quaint, cozy, romantic, more of a locals hang out. To start the home made pâté was a sinful treat. Husband had the lamb; still makes my mouth water looking at this photo. The people, adorable tres chic total Paris décor will have you falling in love in no time. Food and staff are tres magnifique.

Circa 1875 saved the day! We were a group of 9 in town for graduation, and we had another restaurant back out of our reservation. We thought we’d be stuck eating microwave ramen noodles on such a busy weekend, but the staff at Circa was so accommodating. They were able to arrange a table for us in the gastro pub, which features the same menu as the main restaurant. The servers were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The cocktails were fantastic, we had great wines, and every dish was well-executed. The mussels, escargot, and trout were standouts, but you really can’t go wrong on this menu. Thank you, Circa and staff for saving us from a graduation weekend disaster!

We had a lovely dinner in the wine cellar. We walked in after 6, without reservations on a Thursday night, without a hitch. Our service was excellent and our food was the same. We ordered the Fois Gras and the Beef Tartare apps followed by the roasted Duck Breast and the Wild Boar and red cabbage. Delicious! We would definitely return.

While the service and the hostess were very friendly, the rest was not a very good experience. I ordered the trout with a Caesar salad as my appetizer and my dining companion who ordered the sautéed mushrooms with the salmon and spinach. The Caesar salad was very dry like they just put down some lettuce and put a couple pieces of cheese on top. It was very uninspired and lacking in taste. But, for a salad I can let that go. The real problem came with the trout. While I would not normally order this, I got it due to the waiters suggestion. I can say that it was one of the worst entrées I have had at a fine dining restaurant in recent memory. I would like in this dish to something from Long John Silver’s or Captain D’s. Only there, they are actually battered and come with tartar sauce so are better. This is supposed to be a fine dish. It was absolutely swimming in oil(I am guessing not olive oil but probably something like vegetable or corn oil… disgusting). I did not want to send it back as the waiter was very friendly and meant well and I suspect that most dishes are fairly poor there since the execution on this tryout was at a remedial level or that of someone who has no idea how to cook so they just throw a bunch of cheap cooking oil into a frying pan and let it sit there for a bit. I had to skip all meals the following day as I felt so disgusting from all the oil seeping out but not a good oil like when you have a cheeky dinner or pizza and actually enjoy it and say well that was really good I am glad I indulged myself this was a disgusting, why did I eat that disgusting stuff type meal. My dining companion had a similar experience. She ordered mushrooms as her appetizer, and poured out literally a giant saucerful of oil and there still was a giant portion remaining with the mushrooms that she could not get rid of. She ordered everything substituted with the salmon for spinach in order to have it as a healthy dish, and ordered the salmon as rare as possible. The salmon was unfortunately not rare, and also swimming in oil. To further exasperate the experience, the very nice server commended us on finishing our dishes. We only eat dinner, we do not eat breakfast or lunch, so therefore seeing as it was 11PM, this was pretty much our only dining option for the rest of the evening, and was not completed due to adoration of the dishes. And both of us still feel nauseous the following day from the vast amount of grease. A shame, as the staff are so pleasant, we really wanted to like the place!

Love Circa! Our server Betty is one of our favorites anywhere in town & we request her every time! Food is wonderful, atmosphere is warm and intimate and even though it can be tough to get in it’s worth the effort. Love the burger here from the bar menu but all there dishes are prepared with skill and talent.

My husband and I had only one night in Savannah, but made the most of it by doing pre-dinner drinks and snacks at a couple spots around town, including Circa 1875. When you enter, you feel like you’ve traveled back in time to turn of the century Paris. Heavy wood bar, tall boys, stained glass, you instantly feel like you should be drinking absinthe and talking about art. With that in mind, we really enjoyed the cocktail menu, which features classic drinks to pair with a really classic French menu. We enjoyed the Cuisses de Grenouilees Lyonnaise(Frog Legs — first time for me!) and the Plateau du Chef(Charcuterie Board), while sipping on champagne cocktails and Moscow Mules. Other classic menu items that oozed Paris include the Ratatouille, Cassoulet Maison and Escargots. We sat at the bar, a space towards the end that was a cozy spot for 2, which felt like we had our own private booth. Bartender was friendly and attentive, food was really delicious. The website for the spot bills itself as «Unpretentious French Cuisine & Gastro Pub», which sounds impossible due to the nature of gastropubs in general — but I have to agree that this place lives up to that claim. Great food, great ambiance and no attitude, just amazing on all levels. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and will consider it a must-do spot for future Savannah visits.

Awesome dinner. We went on a Tuesday evening and enjoyed a calm an unrushed dinner of excellent food and attention. App was just the special salad. Bread was ok, not fabulous like the rest of dinner. I got the seared duck, so perfectly cooked. Hubby got the wild boar. It also was amazing. The sauce was extremely flavorful. He loved it. Dessert was a shared chocolate mousse. It was very good with a hint of espresso powder and fresh raspberries. This was a meal that was the perfect end to a great trip. Definitely coming back.

The escargot was drenched in butter and garlic. If you’ve always been waiting to try escargot, but have been hesitant, I recommend trying it here. Very palatable and delicious!

Less snooty than I expected — but expensive authentic french food. We tried escargot(buttery, take it in one bite), foie gras — creamy so creamy like cheese it was bizzare. I had a roasted cauliflower soup, jon had an excellent salmon grille with ratatouille which was divine. Vitaliy had boar — which was the best with red cabbage. Everything was creamy buttery and well seasoned #french

Visit Date: March 8, 2016 After learning this was a french gastropub I had to make a reservation to eat here with my husband during our stay in Savannah. I am giving it 4 stars because of the atmosphere and because most of what we ate was very good but I was slightly disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options. I had to scour through the menu just to find a few things I could eat. Our cheese plate that we sampled for the appetizer was just okay. We didn’t like two of the three cheeses featured on the plate/cheese board because they were more of a blue cheese type and we don’t like blue cheese. The fruit, jelly and one cheese that was not like blue cheese were good. I had the tomato bisque and a salad. Both were pretty good, the tomato bisque had great flavor. They also served bread with their own herb butter. The herb butter was interesting and tasty. My recommendation if you are visiting Savannah and looking for one fine meal go with the Olde Pink House over Circa 1875.

I’m a sucker for a good French bistro and this place was well worth the price. My hubby took me here for our anniversary… and they really rolled out the customer service for us. They had a great table reserved for us and what seemed like their best waiter who was so attentive and nice and really took care of us. We started with the escargot, which I had never had before — foodie that I am! — and I was a bit tentative at first. But… I got one smell of the collision of butter and garlic swimming before me and I couldn’t resist. Holy Wow! I’m a fan. The escargot simply melted in my mouth… cooked perfectly and so juicy and delicious. We paired it with the homemade French bread and rolls they brought to the table. Absolutely phenomenal! My husband had steak and frites. The steak was cooked to perfection with herbed butter over the top of it. The frites were drizzled with truffle oil(which can be overdone, but not this time) and sea salt and simply melted in your mouth.(We’ve gone back twice just for the frites!) I had the coq au vin and it was simply scrumptious. Served on a bed of egg noodles, the chicken was tender and juicy and the rich sauce stood up to the vegetables and herbs. I had to share it with my husband so he could enjoy the flavors, as well. The wine list was reasonably priced with a lot to choose from, although I just love a good bottle of Côtes du Rhôné. For dessert, we were treated with a large portion of complimentary(for our anniversary) profiteroles with creamy ice cream and thick, thick fudge. Mmmm… Love this place and highly recommend the bistro for that special occasion or if you’re in the mood for a lovely dining experience. The gastro pub next to it has a wonderful menu of similar items in a more casual atmosphere… but the same great staff and service. Go there!

Some of the finest food I’ve ever had the pleasure of enjoying. My wife and I visited for a weekend trip in Savannah. She had the braised lamb shank, which fell off the bone and was full of flavor. She asked to make a substitution of the cous cous it is normally served on for mashed potatoes and that was no problem. I had the Coq au Vin which was served on a bed of egg style noodles.(This was on special that night) It was a religious experience, the flavor just permeated the dish and the noodles soaked up the sauce to make for a wonderful combination. The sauce is rich, and there are nice chunks of lardon bacon mixed throughout the dish to give you that extra flavor and which worked as a contrasting texture to the perfectly cooked chicken thighs. Circa also offers Absinthe service, which we had not imbibed in for ages — so we had some(Lucid Brand). There’s a small selection of Scotch, and a very nice wine list to pair with practically any meal. We will be making the trip just to visit as often as possible. The service was also excellent, quick, and very friendly.

Cute French restaurant in Savannah! I loved the décor and how they really worked to make the space feel like a Parisian café. I ordered the duck breast with the bing cherry sauce and celery root mash. It was superb and the bing cherry sauce really added that nice bit of sweet to the saltiness of the duck. I’d highly recommend that dish or my friends raved about the trout. I’d say — whether a local or visitor — you should make a reservation to Circa when in downtown. You won’t regret it.

From the moment we walked in until we left, we couldn’t have asked for a better meal or better experience. We were on the restaurant side, which had the small, cozy feel of a French café, although they do have downstairs seating so can hold more customers than you’d think. The staff are friendly and attentive. To be honest, we came for the escargot… which were a buttery, garlicky masterpiece. The rest of the meal kept pace with the escargot. Simply prepared, no frills, delicious course after course. We randomly picked our own wine pairings off the wine board, and each selection was excellent. Kudos to their sommelier for composing a selection that perfectly pairs with their food. Thank you for a wonderful meal and evening.

I took my girlfriend here on Saturday evening for my birthday dinner and we had dinner in the wine cellar downstairs. Here’s a trip: If you’d like a little quieter of a room, with about 8 – 10 tables and totally away from the commotion of the upstairs dining room, then book the wine cellar well in advance. We shared the mussels, then I had the duck and she had the brook trout. Although the brook trout was tasty, I liked my duck much more. The duck was cooked almost like a pork tenderloin, and it was full of flavor. Out of these three dishes, my favorite was the duck if you like that particular texture. The mousse was for dessert. It was more of a milk chocolate mousse(I’m more of a dark chocolate person), but nonetheless it was fantastic. The ambiance of the wine cellar and the attentiveness of our server exceeded our highest expectations. This place makes you feel comfortable while holding a romantic element. This is a somewhat hidden gem within Savannah that the locals appreciate and take pride in. Worth coming back for sure.

Wow. I didn’t expect Savannah to have good French food, but they nailed it! We came here with a large group, and the staff was very friendly and patient with us! Haha. The walls were decorated with the old advertisements we know so well. Our group shared several appetizers, my favorites being the escargot, foie gras, and chicken livers. For dinner, I had the«Loup de Mer», a gigantic serving of Sea Bass cooked to heavenly perfection, based on my amazing waiter’s recommendation. It was fantastic. And, we shared about every dessert! A wise choice, for sure.

Stopped in on a Wednesday night around 930, very friendly and accommodating staff. My steak frites(strip) was THE perfect medium, one of the better strip steaks I’ve had, and the fries were, well, fries. Ordered an old fashioned, but I basically got a big glass of makers, not a terrible situation, but definitely not an old fashioned, as requested. My friend ordered the same as he normally trusts me on cocktails, but he was barely able to enjoy half of his drink. Atmosphere was a very relaxed comfortable French inspired place. Dessert was not too bad, but nothing spectacular. They forgot the espresso that was supposed to accompany the dish until we requested the check.
