Best ace! Helpful, lots of parking, good prices… What more could you want? They always had good suggestions for my weird projects, I even made a herringbone coffee table out of their paint stir-sticks.

Lesson learned. DO come here if there is a milk shortage, DON’T come here if you need paint for anything. There’s better out there. The color they matched to the swatch we brought in was mediocre at best, and they wouldn’t offer to fix it or anything. Terrible service.

Us & our entire family have been loyally shopping at Ace for decades. Even with the competion close by. Normally we get decent customer service. Kinda slow basically, but decent. Additionally, I am a person with a disability, MS. Well, we bought some paint here as we have done for years for several of our homes in the past. This paint was not custom mixed, it was pre mixed & she picked it up from the shelf. I read on a bunch of signs” If you end up not loving the color you chose, no big deal. You can replace it for free” That was great! So I purchased this«latte» color & painted a 12″ X like 2′ spot & this paint dried as a peach orange color. I stopped & waited for it to dry more. Same result. Definately not a «latte» color. I took it back the same day, but later, with my receipt & showed them a picture of how orange it was on my wall. I picked another color & double checked that sign that I had read. Well, as they had just began mixing the new color, I double checked & asked about that replacement for free sign & the sales person said no they wont wont replace that one for free like the sign had said, I will have to buy the replacement one at another $ 32 since it was a different brand then I had bought! It did not for a second occur to me that this was only by brand at this point. Kind of misleading & confuzing to me. I thought they just had this great new marketing tool. I was confused to say the least. Well, maybe its just me, due to my disability. So, I explained that I was confuzed by that & she got a little snippy with me & said we are mixing this new one & you have to buy this new one as well! We have been shopping here for decades & have basically never made returns. I asked if they can please work with me, I dont want any trouble but to please work with me, it wasnt opened & its a very neutral oatmeal color & perhaps just sell this unopened can on the shelf with some of the other pre mixed paints. She still said no. I then felt pretty upset at this point & quietly mentioned to her something that may have had an impact on the confusion about this situation with me. I suffer MS this disease that has given me brain lesions & this can cause confusion & to please understand this. I dont want trouble just understand the situation at hand & please have some level of sensitivity. We have also been very loyal customers for years. I thought the signs meant all of their paint. Plus, I dont have an extra $ 32 to spend. I honestly thought that the sign that said«if the paint doesnt work you can return it free of charge» meant all of their paint. I told her that I would just keep the orange paint. She then told me that I had to pay for the paint that was mixing that I hadnt even touched! WHAT? She didnt seem to care & remained insensitive. Wow. For starters, where is the«customer service.» This was so sad & horrible to me. Why would I have to pay for both cans? I just want to keep the 1st can that I had already paid for & leave now. I asked for the manager. Well, the manager is at lunch for the next hour. I dont want to wait in the store for an hour to resolve this. I want to just leave & keep my old paint that I had paid for & not be forced to pay for a 2nd can as well. Im embarrassed that I told this person about my private health business & upset. I asked for her to take my name & ph# & have the manager call me back. I left with my old can of paint & left the new unopend can still there in the mixing machine with the associate. I waited at home, but ended up having to call the manager back myself. Again, lack of customer service here. I explained the entire situation to her and my my personal health situation since maybe this had an impact, including my MS that has caused brain leisons. She did not seem to care or seem sensitive in the least & told me that I still had to pay for this new can of paint that I had not even touched. She is keeping that can there for me to come & pay for. She also said its well known & on commercials that its only this specific brand of paint that offers the free exchange. Well, I actually have not seen these commercials. Still no resolution here. The store owner has to call me now whenever they return. I am so dissapointed at this point that there is poor customer service & zero sensitivity for a person with a disability. I will not be going back. Neither will my family or friends after this experience.

Been here a few times and service was always great. I usually go between this location and the one in St Helens since they have some different items at each store.

This Ace Hardware is a good place to go for your hardware needs in Scappoose. The prices are much better than Fred Meyer which is the only other option for home supplies. The service is however not so good. I almost always have to wait in a long line and the checkers are all really rude, especially the manager, who always looks annoyed and talks to you like your a child. I actually think the managers attitude trickle’s down to the checker employee’s attitude.
