My biggest problem with Shaw’s is not unique to this particular location: the prices are just too high. A lot of the prices are the same as you’d pay at Whole Foods(or «Whole Paycheck» as a lot of us call it). I went in here today and an item that Hannaford sells for $ 3.99 was over $ 5 here. Bakery items sold at Hannaford for $ 3-$ 4 were $ 5-$ 6 here. Meat and produce prices are higher here across the board. For that reason, I don’t do my normal grocery shopping here. Hannaford is a much better bargain. There’s hardly ever anyone here. On a typical weekday night there might be a handful of other customers in the store. Since this store gets so little traffic, a lot of items get put on clearance at deep discounts. I was able to get some stuff at the deli that they normally sell for $ 6.99 a pound, and it was on clearance for $ 1.99 a pound. It was perfectly good, nothing wrong with it at all. Just getting close to the expiration date I guess. I used it immediately so it wasn’t a problem. They also have these great tortilla chips which they make from scratch right in the store. They package them in clear bags and sell them in the produce section near the fruit. $ 2.99 for a big bag. They’re really good. Miles better than the commercial ones found in the chip aisle.

This Shaw’s in Scarborough is always clean and the shelves are always stocked full! The only problem I have at this Shaw’s is finding things it’s so big! It’s very clean and sells beer and wine, too. They don’t have very much non alcoholic beer to choose from though. Definitely no O’Doul’s! They have lots of fresh produce and a huge deli, too!
