Hannaford Food and Drug

This is whereI stock up on fruit, vegetables, and sparkling water while traveling in Maine. I love this location because it has a great deli and grill. At the grill, they prepare Mongolian-​style stir fry and sandwiches. The prices are great, and the service is fast and friendly. This store also has a fairly big bakery with good local choices

We’re fortunate to have many different Hannaford locations in the Greater Portland area, each with their own unique flavor. I find myself shopping at the Philbrook Ave store most frequently because it’s usually much less crowded than the others. The only thing I dislike more than huge crowds of people is trying to buy groceries in huge crowds of people.
This location isn’t perfect — none of them are — but I find it to have the most stress-​free shopping experience. Other nearby locations I’ve visited frequently include Scarborough, Cottage Road, Back Cove, and Westbrook. Scarborough has the best deli and the best hot wing bar (somehow they’re able to keep their onion rings crispy, which none of the other locations can do), but it’s always very busy and I always end up standing in line for a long time (especially with the self-​serve registers which tech-​phobic customers have no business using but they do anyway). Cottage Road and Back Cove are always mobbed with people and I get anxiety attacks every time I go there, and parking is difficult at both of them. Westbrook is pretty good but it’s a bit too out-​of-​the-​way. Philbrook Ave strikes the perfect balance for me.
I just wish they’d figure out how to keep their wing bar items from getting soggy! Philbrook Ave managers: talk to the folks in Scarborough; they’ve apparently figured that out.
Last but not least, I have to mention that the pharmacy at this Hannaford store is not very good. On several occasions I went to pick up prescriptions only to be informed that the medication was out of stock and wouldn’t be available for a few days. On each occasion they never bothered to call me and tell me that. But it gets much worse: on two separate occasions they dispensed the wrong medications. The name and medication on the pill bottle were correct, but the pills inside looked different. I went online to find out what the pills were and it turns out they were chemotherapy meds, not the allergy meds I was prescribed! Doing this once is bad enough, but doing it twice is inexcusable. I stopped using their pharmacy after that and switched my prescriptions to Target, where I’ve had absolutely no problems whatsoever.

I love Hannaford-​what can I say?
They always have great sales on fruits & veggies. Their staff is always patient and willing to explain to students – I can always depend on the same wonderful cashiers that always have smiles & offer help.
Great selection on lunch items and never crowded in the morning! I love the egg salad sandwiches & fruit parfaits – if you haven’t had them make you some awesome stir fry do it – STAT

I do not have a grocery store that I frequent, but there are things that I expect from a grocery store candidate.
This location delivered on a lot of those expectations – helpful staff, organized, clean store, enough registers open to eliminate waiting, and a really cool walk in fridge for beer. Okay, the beer one isn’t normally on my list but I thought it was awesome and I don’t even drink beer.
Unfortunately the meat and produce selections disappointed me. There were several vegetables that I couldn’t find. I also didn’t see ground poultry. I like my grocery stores to be a one stop shop for fresh food needs.
I would come here again for quick things but not for a full grocery list.

Massive lines, two registers open. I walked out AGAIN. This the third time in recent months i have stopped by for two items, and have encountered lines of customers with only two registers. Not worth the wait.

Clean organized. They did have those lays garlic, siracha, and chicken waffle chips. But have ran out. Friendly staff and has a Redbox inside.
