Do not waste your time going to the Klaff’s in Scarsdale. The suboptimal level of service you will receive, for what you are paying is simply outrageous. The sales person in bathroom fixtures, didn’t return calls, had a cell phone with a full mail box-impossible to get in touch with. Then he made a financial error on my bill. I hear he was fired since and the Manager asked me to pay the difference because of his salesperson’s error. We are talking $ 50. Bad call on the Manager’s part, given all my issues prior to this. DRIVETOTHENORWALK or DANBURYSTORE. You will get the service and level of competence you deserve there. PASSONSCARSDALE!

Klaff’s has a beautiful selection of high-end lighting, kitchen and bathroom products. So why the low rating? It’s the service. Upstairs are their lighting and cabinet/door hardware displays. I have come here many times looking for both. Rarely does a salesperson ask if you need help. If you are lucky enough to get someone to help you, they lose interest once they find out you are looking to buy only one lamp, and not relighting your entire home. Downstairs in the kitchen and bath area, the brands on display are apparently top-secret. It’s like pulling teeth to find out who makes the faucet or sink you are looking at. I guess they are afraid you’ll shop around and figure out their prices are way high, they gave good service you might be more willing to pay a higher price. Unfortunately, the service downstairs is not good either– but downstairs they are not inattentive like upstairs– instead, they hover over you. I stop in at Klaff’s frequently because they really do have the best selection in the area. Each time I hope for a different service experience, but it’s the same. That explains why I have purchased very little there over the years. If you are selling high-end products, your service should match your prices.

They have a very interesting selection of products for kitchens and bathrooms, many from European manufacturers as best I can tell. The place seems a bit sleepy, however, with few people very eager to help or give useful advice or information about what they have. It is high end but you will have to do most of the work yourself.

CAVEATEMPTOR! BUYERBEWARE! I have never written a review for anything, so listen up. I had a disturbing experience at Klaff’s in Scarsdale, which I wouldn’t want anyone else to encounter. I was looking at a particular kitchen installation when a salesperson came out and asked if I had any questions. I said I was interested in this kitchen, but just had a couple of questions: size of refrigerator there, and would she recommend marble for countertops? She said she couldn’t answer any questions unless I hired her as my designer. She asked if I «knew how it worked». I did, and told her I already had architect’s plans, would not need her design services, but was interested in the cabinetry, and just had a few minutes now to look at it again. She rudely declined any questions. I said I would be fine looking at it alone. She then came back, and seeing me look at my phone, warned me not to take pictures, which I was not. I quietly expressed to this woman that I felt she was unhelpful and somewhat rude, and that I would request other assistance upon my return. She then hollered, «I wouldn’t want to work with you anyway, lady!» The other sales staff and customer witnessing this exchange were dumbstruck. The customer got out quickly and wished me luck. The staff apologized and offered to help, asking if I wanted to see the manager, Ben Allier. Upon hearing this, the saleswoman, Laura Sporandio, suddenly appeared and got very close to me physically, shouting, «Do you want his number? I’ll give you his number!» She then ran into his office. When Mr Allier appeared, he apologized, and yet defended his employee, saying she was wrong but they will counsel her, and that while they want my business, I am free to shop anywhere! I told him I was not concerned with her, that I was very upset and shaking. He said so was Laura. I told him his response to my as a customer was lacking, and that he should be appalled. I asked for the owner’s contact information, to let him know how this store is being run. Ben declined to give it, saying I should contact the CEO. I have done that and — no surprise — he never called me back. Pity they shield the owner from their mismanagement. What the poor manager didn’t realize was that I had been to this store months ago, before I undertook actual plans, and was now ready to begin my purchase. I had just stopped in to see it again and refresh my memory! I would’ve spent a small fortune there. Perhaps Klaff’s doesn’t care about the money. But they should care about a bad review. There are plenty of courteous and civilized kitchen purveyors who also want your money. Bottom line? GOELSEWHERE!

This is a fabulous find. I did my entire apartment using their kitchen, bathroom and floors. The lighting department is amazing. Very unusual and beautiful fixtures. Good service. A shout out to Press and Anthony in bathroom/kitchen, Naomi who had the best suggestions for my challenging lighting, Susan and John for their fantastic kitchen design, Robin for floor advice and everyone else who made this a pleasant experience.
