We made a big mistake; we should have looked at Unilocal before coming here. We got the hard sell from our salesman, and we were offered a pretty good price as long as we installed before the 1^st of the year. GREAT! New carpet for Christmas! We quickly empties out all the closets and organized, and then we asked Art at Luna what we had to do to get ready. The response was nothing. When the installers arrived 30 minutes early (7:30 AM) they told us they wouldn’t move toys or electronics. to make it worse, they practically kicked my son and I out of the house before we could eat breakfast or shower. We came home 8 hours later to some nice carpet and a HUGE MESS. The installers removed everything from the rooms, including books on bookshelves, and THREW them into the one upstairs bathroom that didn’t need carpet. This also included our bed sheets, covers, and pillows which they threw in the wet shower. It was a disaster, and it took us 3 hours to return the house to normal. This was all the normal things that are on beds and shelves– we were told not to do anything with this stuff. When we asked the installers if they were moving it back, they said they were only paid to move furniture so… no. In addition to this, they removed all the tracks for the closets, but did not replace them, and we have found 20 (and still counting) large staples that were sticking out of the carpet due to poor installation. We called Art or salesmen… he forwarded us to the complaints department. They asked for a list of damages… there are no damages. Just poor installation, poor customer service, and disregard for anything the homeowner owns. We have still yet to get a response from customer service or the complaint department so… Unilocal it is.
Bottom Line: If you don;t care about your stuff, have the time to essentially pack everything as if you are moving, and are OK with going back and doing more work after they are done (as well as pulling large staples out of your bare feet) then call Luna. The price is certainly good; the service sucks.

After refusing to install my new flooring. They said I would receive a refund of my deposit. I have called and emailed. Still no refund. Had to file a complaint with my credit card company. Nationwide Flooring is now installing my floors. Check out there Unilocal reviews. Stay away!

Where do I begin… They are lucky you have to select one star, otherwise it would be blank. The entire process has been an absolute nightmare. The Salesman Rick came out to our house saying we would be so impressed with Luna. He gives us the first price and says I could not even get my house done for this price. Obviously this is the first biggest red flag ever. He shows us that it should cost us over 15,000 dollars to have a less than 1000 sq foot house carpeted and laminated with their premium hardwood replica laminate. We tell him what we could afford to pay for it because we did not want to finance. What we had to spend is what we had to spend. He says, «just tell me a number and I will submit it and they can deny it and you can quit wasting my time.» He also says any lower and you will have to remove your own carpet garbage and move all your furniture around your house. Obviously my offer is not met but a lower amount gets approved and he says he is going to have to send an email to his boss explaining why the price was so low. We still hesitate at having to remove our own garbage and he goes, «well I can throw all of the perks back in if you sign right now.» We reluctantly agree and he has us sign and initial a bunch of pages in his iPad without really explaining anything or showing us the pages, just sign here, but had the wrong signatures matched with printed names anyways. Here is where the story gets even worse. They come out on a Saturday to do the carpet install. The installer takes one look at the front door and says nope, cant do it today. We have the whole roll in our truck and need somewhere to cut it. Mind you they already measured every room with a laser dimension specific program. The installer asks if I know anyone with a large garage where they can cut it. I give him credit for trying to come up with a solution, but I mean really… So carpet does not get installed, bookshelf are cleaned off, smaller items we were told to move are crammed into every other open space in the house. We had to live in ridiculous conditions for 2 more days and take a day off of work. Here is where the story gets better. 2 Saturdays later, we are supposed to have the wood laminate installed. Our salesman Rick told us we only have to turn the knobs on the dryer, washing machine and oven, not uninstall the cords. Installer comes and says he can’t do those. He also looks at the floor and goes these are not level and Luna did not give me any planks to level out the floor. I would figure if they were going to level it, they would use the leveling stuff everyone else talks about, so I am confused there. He also tells me Luna did not give him enough wood trim for the transition pieces. Guess what he says … «I can’t install today.» So not only did Luna not make sure our floor was level or tell us about an additional charge if it wasn’t level, the installer didn’t even have everything he needed in the first place. So after about an hour of trying to get someone on the phone, they say we will need to pay $ 100 more for the material. I told them that the price we agreed on said everything was included and I would not pay any more. They told me I can pay the $ 100 or I can cancel my order. I will say they did offer a slight discount after the carpet fiasco, but it amazes me that they were willing to suffer a horrendous review and lose a customer they have mistreated the entire way over $ 100. If you want really cheap carpeting and poor service then go to Luna, but you will have to work very hard for a reasonable price anyway. So here I sit with new carpet and broken tiles. Also the wood laminate piece shown looked way different size wise than the samples we saw.

It took me a couple of weeks to calm down to be able to write this review. Avoid Luna Flooring like the plague. We bought a house and wanted to install carpeting in our basement as part of a renovation. We dealt with Chuck Whelply as a sales manager. While he was very educational and helpful during the selling process, his follow up was completely negligible. We needed skimming for our basement to level it out and this was part of our agreed package and final price (I had quotes from other competitors and would’ve gone with them otherwise). They sent an installation crew on the scheduled day with no crew that planned to skim. They ended up packing up all of the carpeting and materials and leaving that day and told us we needed to hire a contractor to pay for skimming. I called Chuck and then he never answered his phone again.
Once the sale was made, he was nowhere to be found. In addition, I was told as part of my negotiated package that I had to have the current carpet removal and disposal as a charge in my package even though we had no carpet to dispose of. After the fact, the corporate people removed this charge. Chuck was just padding his sales figures instead of giving us the value we deserved. After 2 weeks of literally breaking down into tears on the phone with Luna, we were able to get an ‘inconvenience’ credit, but it didn’t near the anxiety and stress this company caused me and my family. Avoid them at all costs and beware of their lack of follow up and their sole interest in making the sale.

The salesman who provided my estimate was 3 ½ hrs late. Then he really made me uncomfortable with too hard of a «sales pitch» He gave me incorrect info of what I was able to do with wood and laminate flooring, then he put the pressure on after showing me only a couple of samples. He only gave me two options! Then when he put me on the clock. I didn’t like being pressured but I did try contact my husband (he was at work) to relay the estimate I was given. I told the salesman that I as a smart buyer would need time to compare my options and estimates from them and other flooring companies and discuss it with my husband. The Luna guy picked up the his sample and left in a huff, as if he was upset. Even though he basically wasted my whole day being over 3hrs late, then giving me limited options and incorrect info. Then he called and texted me all night, saying he could lower the price and extend me decision time by an hr, then another hour. I was turned off by the whole experience. Even though he was late and I was not pleased at first I still gave them a fair chance to see what Luna offered. This was a bad experience!

My husband and I recently purchased a foreclosure property. We are desperately trying to figure out what to spend our small budget on. Larry, the rep, came out to show us some flooring. We discussed what we were looking for and our budget. We did not want to spend more than $ 8000 on flooring. We explained what we liked and went back and forth. Finally, he gave us a quote for $ 8,600 if we eliminated one of our rooms. My husband told him we would have to take a day and think about it. We received a call from Larry and we explained that we only had $ 8000. He said he would «talk to someone» and call us back. When he called back, he said they would not go below $ 8600 and they actually wanted to INCREASE the price. My husband said he would talk to me (his wife) and call back. When my husband called him back 5 minutes later to ask if we could consider financing the $ 8600, he said «the offer is no longer valid, because he is dealing with a different guy, but wishes us luck in the future».
I think it is sad that the company doesn’t account for people’s finances. We truly wanted to use this company, but we only have so much money. We need to buy appliances, new bathrooms and other necessities. We should be given a little bit of time to try and figure things out. Terrible, terrible service. Never again.

high pressure salesman… price went from over 9K down to a little over 4K with all the «additional» discounts… was told discounts good only for «right now» asking where else I was going to go and everyone else could not compare to his price… lets be real. as in any purchase (cars, appliances, etc) you shop around and comparison price… maybe I should have called luna last! as soon as I made it clear I was not going to commit he dropped me like a hot potato and ran out as fast as he could!

We are selling our house and needed a quick installation of a reasonably priced carpet. I went in to the store and spoke with Chuck. He had a young man come out to our house and measure that afternoon and the installers came the next day. The carpet looks great, the price was good, and I sure appreciate the fabulous customer service. BTW – the carpet, even though it was reasonable, isn’t really an inferior quality and i expect that whoever buys our house will use it for a long time. I couldn’t be happier.

Ordered our floors from Michael Fonte from Luna. We discussed in detail the layout and what I wanted. Called prior to installation to inform the installers that I wanted to use the same 2 floors I originally chose, but wanted to change one of the bathrooms to my other choice. I was told that this was fine and that they would make the adjustment to my order. The installers showed up on ⁴⁄₇ to install flooring in 3 bathrooms and our kitchen. After about 20 mintues after they began I went into the kitchen to check on the progress of the installation and discovered that the floor was being laid in a veritical pattern and not a horizontal pattern that would match the hall flooring. The installer, the only good part about my entire Luna experience, removed the floor he had already put down and installed it to match the hallway. He showed me what the salesman had provided and sure enough he was installing it how the salesman said, the wrong direction. The salesman paid no attention to anything that we discussed, obviously. Because of this error there was not enough product to completely install the kitchen floor. I called Luna and was told that the remaining product had to be ordered and the first available day the installation could be completed was ⁴⁄₁₇. The bathroom floors could not be finished either, and my master bathroon remained half completed with the toilet removed and sitting in the middle of the floor. They returned to complete this installation on on ⁴⁄₉ as this product was available and this part of the installation could be completed sooner. Again the salesman did not measure the bathrooms correctly so there was not enough product to complete all the bathroom installations.
I was called this morning, 4/​17, to inform me that the installers would be at my home to finish the installation between 11 and 1 pm. At 2:45pm I had not heard or seen them. I called and was told that they would be here by 4pm.
This has been a nightmare and I have no intention of ever using them again. It doesn’t seem to me that they have anyone who really listens to you, all they want to do is get you to sign and once they do that they have you.
I have been inconvenienced 2 additional days due to their incompetence. I have called to request a 10% discount for these errors and my inconvenience and I am waiting for a response.

We ordered our Laminate Floors but saw the bad Unilocal reviews and canceled the order.
After speaking with the Manager Kevin and doing some research on the product we decided to go through with the installation and order. We are completed pleased with the installation and service of the manager and customer service.
I would recommend you research the product and watch for deals. I will definitely go back if I ever need more flooring

If I could give a negative I would. See post below. As of ⁴⁄₂ I still do not have carpet. Again informed two days before installation ³⁄₂₈ that there was a mfg. delay on this order. Reschedule for the 3^rd time for ⁴⁄₁₄. How can anyone believe anything Luna Carpet says. I cannot get a straight answer as to what the mfg. delay is. The only way to get them to respond is to post on Unilocal.I have been in contact with Cust Svc Rep but she is merely a mouthpiece for this unreliable company. I would not EVER recommend Luna Carpet. By the way — the Mgr. Chuck Whelpley still has not contacted me to discuss the problems associated with this order.

I want to start by saying that I found Luna Carpet & Flooring after a Horrible experience with a different «In Home Carpet Store». I called to set up an appointment to view products. That was the easy part! The salesman came and seemed very pleasant. He measured up the area, let me know what a shoddy job was done on the previous job (May 2014) He asked who did the install; and it turns out that the other WIDELY Advertised «In Home Carpet & Flooring «EMPIRE» IS Luna’s Sister company. I became concerned, but, Dudly, the sales Rep told us that he could get our ISSUE moved along to our satisfaction in order to get this New Carpet & Laminate installed. He told us that we had to put down $ 200. 00 to Hold pricing even though we still NEEDED a Complete tear out! I did Not want to give a deposit as the «Mother Company» owes us BIG. He than began telling my husband about how he gets paid so little and the he has kids & bills… my husband Parted with $ 200 more and Dudley Promised that he would help us and follow up with us. He said that HE would NOT leave us hanging «See You in the Review Mirror» like his sister company empire did. Well, as of January 30^th 2015, Dudly has Never called us back, he did NOTHING to help get the contaminated carpet OUT of my wreck room and he has our money! I did get 2 calls from Luna though. They called me the SAME DAY (January 19^th) that the other Company FINALLY agreed to get their Crap out of my house. I was so Pissed! I told them that I do NOT want the installation done by them or ANY of Their affiliates! I was very clear, although dealing hard dialectic person can be difficult. So, even though I told them that I do NOT want the install & I want the $ 200 deposit back, they Continue calling. I know that MOST of this company is subcontracted out, and employees aren’t good English speakers (OK, I’m being pissy but truthful) and they charge WAY more than Local flooring Stores as well more than Lowe’s & Home Depot. Again, we NEVER saw Original Pricing in order to compare with «Sale Price». This Company, too, just throws out $ amounts and sees what sticks! I’m just SO sick of dealing with this Entire Company! Give Us Back ALL of our Money Thank You! Also, the Profile Picture of the «Manager» CHRIS M., is NOT her! The photo can be found ALL over Web as a Stock photo. This is just a SMALL bit of the Deception that you WILL get from start to finish with Luna. They lie and are Unprofessional. I’m very disappointed at their Business practices. BUYERS BEWARE! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR & Don’t use Luna! Awful communication, deceptive (Lies)Sales practices, I’m sure the warranty would be as problematic seeing as NOBODY there listens. Question too, WHERE do Their Installers Come from? NO Background Checks! Barely English; who’s are YOU Letting INTO Your Home?

Wish I would have read these reviews from the start or gone with my gut from the beginning. First they no showed for the measurement. I should have run then but was willing for them to make it right. Second chuck told us the flooring could be brought the day of installation which was wrong so one of is had to take the day off to wait for it to be delivered. The day of installation we find out it’s glue down floors and not floating and we have to move all the furniture to the back yard. I call chuck probably 10 times on Saturday on the cell number he gave me and here it is Wednesday and he still has not called back. I have even left messages at the store and now it’s closed for the rest of the day at 3pm on a Wednesday??? The only reason I gave 1 star is because the installers were very good and made as

This review is for the Lake Zurich Luna location. They have been one of the most accomodating retail companies I have worked with. My husband and I just bought a new home and have a baby on the way and we needed the carpets installed as soon as possible. Not only was Mike Ishkanian (store manager) always helpful and informative, he helped us with with our budget and our time frame and always made himself available to answer any questions that we had.
For some reason our installation date got lost in the mix with the warehouse and Mike called them immediately and worked out the schedule with them.
The carpet will be installed tomorrow and I can only hope that the carpets will be as good as the service we have gotten so far.

Impressive show room, but my advice would be to go to a local smaller company. They can get anything you need. Luna is overpriced, no matter how they try to market beating everybody else out. They don’t. Came in way higher than everyone else. Here’s a huge mistake they are making. Having a sales rep sell the job from a showroom and telling you that he know it can be done, sight unseen. It cannot rest in the hands of a measurer either. It has to be by someone who installs, and they need to come to your home! They try to sell the job, saying that the installer will make a judgement call when he gets there. Really? Supplies, crew, and everything’s there, but what if you have a problem? Well, they just send it back, according to the sales rep. I’m not sure I want to do business with a company who’s willing to waste their own time. Makes me wonder how they’ll regard MY time! The salesman, who is very mouthy and apparently got his start with used cars, called back after weeks to see if we were still interested. I appreciate that… until I told him we went with someone else, because we needed an installer to look at our job, and he abruptly and rudely cut me off and ended the call. Stay away from the big corporate companies. It’s that 1%, «we don’t give a crap» mentality. Go with someone who owns AND installs and knows what the hell they’re talking about.

It has taken me a few days to calm down before I could type something up.
The only positive experience from this was Chuck the salesman and Valerie from customer service. This was my first carpet purchase for my brand new condo. I closed on the condo on June 13^th and bought the carpeting on June 14^th. I was told it would be delivered on June 23^rd. Due to a «delay», they had to move it to Wednesday, which meant I had to pay more for storage AND movers. They did give me a small credit for my «inconvenience» but that isn’t the worst.
The installers laid my NEW carpeting and padding OUTSIDE, ON the concrete ON top of a bunch of ants without ANY protection underneath. The two men insisted that they had NO other way to cut the carpet to install it despite my tears and crying. They installed it anyway. I called Valerie and left her 2 messages and never heard back. I called Chuck and he insisted that «they would MAKE THIS RIGHT» and I am going to hold him to that. The installers also tried to leave without vacuuming/​cleaning up but they did once we told them to please get their vacuum to clean up the debris. They were visibly irritated with me and wanted me to SIGN off on it but I was hesitant because of the ants. But that’s still not the worst.
Guess what. There are ants ALL over the dining room where I had it installed. Everywhere. They have now started to come into my kitchen. I have pictures of this whole debacle and as you can see it is 4:30am because I cannot sleep. I cannot sleep in the CONDO that I pay a MORTGAGE for because I am terrified of the ants. I am staying somewhere else until this is rectified. There were absolutely NO ants before LUNA came into my condo.
I am praying to GOD that when I call in a few hours that they will make sure the carpeting and padding are ripped out and removed IMMEDIATELY. I doubt they’d help me get an exterminator but this is THEIR mistake and THEIR incompetence. I run my own business and would NEVER do this to someone. I must have done something horrible in another life to deserve something like this.
I will update this review assuming it gets fixed but you’ve been warned. I still can’t sleep because I’m so devastated. $ 4500 down the toilet.

Are there any positive reviews here? These guys make «buy here, pay here» used car salesmen look good. Just keep saying no and they will keep dropping the price. New customer discount. Friends and family discount. For you only, 5% over cost discount. «Let me call the finance manager» discount. Lock in the price today with a small deposit, cancel if you change your mind discount. Wow. I generally try and find something positive about any business I interact with, but these guys? Best thing about Luna? The jingle. Go to Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards, at least you’d have some recourse if you are unhappy, I suspect.

After reading the other reviews I wholeheartedly agree, our salesman was awful. Joe Junkel was only interested in a sale, not service. He pulled the same thing he did on other reviewers– quoted a price, left, and then called back with a «great bargain basement price» of $ 2500. After that he did not return one single call to provide an invoice, receipt, service agreement, or answer any questions. He did not tell the installers about the large entertainment center in the living room or the loft in my son’s bedroom. He also failed to mentioned we had to remove EVERYTHING from the rooms getting carpet, so it was a last minute rush when the installers got here. In short, avoid him at all costs.
On the other hand, the installers overcame the obstacles above and worked very hard all day to carpet the entire house. They helped finish clearing the rooms, and they even came back a couple days later because Joe had not ordered enough carpet to finish the stairs. They were clean and professional, and undoubtedly not Luna employees but independent installers.
The carpet looks great and the price wound up being quite reasonable but after four months I still wonder if it was all worth the aggravation. We did have a decent second sales guy stop by after it was all over, at our request, to make sure we were satisfied, and it was nice of him to do that, but overall the experience was one I would rather avoid.
