Merry Maids

it went pretty normally. they sent 2 women to clean my empty home before we moved into it. they gave me a 4 hour window to expect the cleaning crew to arrive, and they came an hour after the window started, so good timing on their part. everything was pretty clean, but the fridge wasn’t as clean as I would have liked because there were still a few crumbs here and there. and they also missed some spots in the kitchen cabinets as we were taking out the shelves to line them, there were some sticky spots on them, gross!
on price, I felt that they were quite a bit more expensive than other services. extra charges for cleaning out the fridge and oven, extra charges for cleaning out a wetbar, extra charges for this and that, almost felt like they were nickle and diming me. for the price I paid and the crew that was sent out, I didn’t feel like I got my money’s worth. I’ve used other cleaning services and it was a flat rate per hour charge and whatever they could clean in that time was what they charged, and if they needed more time they asked if it was ok. definitely not the case here.
however, they did everything I had asked them to do and they were very accommodating.

I’m torn how to review Merry Maids. We used them twice. Once before leaving for our honeymoon (so I didn’t have to stress about cleaning while planning the wedding and packing), and before Christmas (again, so I didn’t have to stress). Wow — I sound like a lazy neurotic lady.
Anyway, each time two women came. We were quoted an hourly price, and were told it would be about an hour total. We were given a 4 hour window. The first visit, they were here within minutes of the first part of that window. The second visit, they came half an hour before the end of the window.
The first cleaning was 2 hours and much more thorough than the second. The second I found to be haphazard and plain lazy. Granted, the second was half the time (1 hour), but the house was much cleaner and the things that were not done were simple standard things.
Example: my headboard and end tables were not dusted. They did not wash our kitchen floor. They asked «do you want us to», but given all the other things they missed, we didn’t want to waste their time (or our money) just to re-​do it. I found I had to go through the house and re-​clean. Admittedly, it was an easier clean for me because they were here, but I don’t feel I should have had to do a walk-​through.
I might call them again, with more specific instructions. Clean the baseboards. Dust all wood furniture. etc.

Great work! Two people showed up and spent a few hours cleaning my home. It was only on a few days notice too. They were prompt and did a wonderful job. I think they’re on the pricey side, but if you’re looking for quality, this is a good one.
