Always consistently good food. Good quality steak meat without tendons and fatty pieces you find elsewhere!

I was very disappointed in my experience. Waitresses were very nice but the food was a let down. I asked for a suggestion on what the cook does best and eventually ordered chicken enchiladas with green sauce. We were given a small basket of chips and salsa.(I could have made better salsa at home and there hottest salsa was mild at best.) These were taken away and not replaced or refilled. The meal arrived quickly but I’m not sure that’s a good thing. I was excited to see real corn tortillas but that’s where authenticity ended. I’m not sure where this restaurant gets its chicken but it looked like out of a can and the seasoning was no where to be found. Rice was not fresh and beans were meh. I’m glad I ordered a smaller portion because afterwards my stomach felt like it had a rock in it. Prices are decently cheap but if you want good food… I suggest hunting for another place.

This food will not piss anyone off, but it will not make you think of Mexico either. Meat is entirely unseasoned, so it’s riding on whether the meat itself can drive it home. Of the three tacos I had(ground beef, chicken, and chorizo) only the chorizo tried to play, and it was a limp attempt at best to arouse satisfaction. Chunks of cheese heaved on these vessels, as only their corn shells reminded me of the idea of a taqueria. If I had to pick a word to describe the food here, forgettable would be one. Passionless would be another. And disappointment would be a third. Nice people working here, but the food is a distant second here, and I didn’t come for the nice people.

Yes — this place is exactly what I was looking for in Schaumburg! I hail from that part of Chicago where Taco Burrito King is the place to go for authentic Mexican food, and Taqueria Los Juanes is just like it! We ordered take-out from here and it was pretty delish. I had a Taco Dinner which included Steak Tacos(I chose the cilantro/onion option and added cheese), rice, and beans. My husband had a Steak Burrito Suizo. Both were what we expected and just what we were hoping for. Greasy, but definitely not sopping, with the right amount of flavor. The menu is pretty large, as well as reasonably priced. They do give you a little bag of chips with some salsa on the side for free, too. The chips weren’t too amazing on their own, but they tasted just fine covered in some beans and salsa. The best part about my meal is that I didn’t feel crazy bloated like I usually do from such a hearty(or do I mean salty, greasy?) meal. A win all the way around. I will definitely order from here again the next time I am craving Mexican food(which is always).

Good food. Average price. Not cheap/not expensive. Seems to be authentic. Enjoyable. Small place. Ok environment.

after searching for a place we could call our own in schaumburg, this place takes the top honor! not far from where we live(although farther than a few other places), affordable food, and well seasoned. We always get the same thing everywhere we go: steak tacos and quesadillas. Without a doubt, this place blows everyone else out of the water. I usually get 4 tacos and and can’t take another bite after the 4th. The quesadillas are packed full of cheese, pico de gallo, and whatever else you want fitted in there. Best part, chips and(delicious) salsa with the meal, complimentary. Love this place. Love it!

I was in the area after I had an appointment in Schaumburg and decided that I was craving some authentic Mexican tacos and this was literally the closest spot in site so I decided to get a few tacos to go. Upon arrival, the girls working here were very friendly and told me my order would be ready in like five minutes. I like that, fast and nice service. The place is small and a few small booths so it’s really not a shameful place to come and have a dinner for a party of one. But since I was in a rush I decided to do the to go. Their prices are decent and comparable to what’s around so I was excited to try their«street style tacos» people had recommended on here. Okay, so what’s nice is they included a little bag of chips for me with a green and red salsa. That’s nice for a to go. However, the chips were nothing special and a little cold. So I passed up on those. I have to say they get another star for a very delicious steak taco in which they melted some of their cheese on top, I should have gotten more of those since the steak was juicy but not chewy and full of flavor but not leaking all over the taco. Then I decided to try my go to el pastor tacos and got a few of those since those are usually my taco winners and I was definitely not impressed. They were over salted to the point that I couldn’t wait to get home and drink a gallon of water, the sauce they were cooked in was a little overwhelming and kind of poured down my hands as I was eating them. I mean I don’t want dry pork pieces but somewhere in between moist and not dripping would have been great. Overall, I think the service was fast and nice and the steak taco(as well as the steak quesadilla) both are awesome. However, the al pastor was a little too much for me and I would pass that up. Not sure if I’d be back as it didn’t wow me but if you live in the area, it’s worth a definite try. But get the steak tacos!!!

Nice surprise! It is a tiny space, but the food was hot and excellent. I sat down and ordered a flauta lunch. The horchata was refreshing and not grainy tasting. The flautas came with rice and refried beans. The rice was fluffy and tasty. The beans were thick and the flautas crispy! The chicken meat inside was flavorful. Happy!

I stopped here to pick up carryout before I headed to work. Got the steak quesadilla and 2 al pastor tacos. The steak quesadilla was slightly runny(probably cause it was ready for a little while before I picked it up. The lady said 10 – 15 mins but it was probably ready in 5) the tacos were loaded with meat and filling as well. I would probably rank this place somewhere between 3 and 4 stars but I gave 4 because it didn’t dissapoint, it just wasn’t as good as I expected based on the reviews. Either way it wasn’t extra oily/greasy Mexican which was good because that’s a make or break for me.

First time being here, and it’s pretty small, like maybe 15 people and it’s crowded. Now as you enter, it looks kinda full, and a bit sad. The only thing giving it life are the plants and the alcoholic bottles for decoration. Now, I entered the bathroom Asap(had to go) and it’s not clean and it’s not dirty – it’s alright. I mean, it could be a worse right? Now the place is same in cleanliness, it’s not good and it’s not bad – it’s alright. Tables are clean, silverware; I can see the kitchen, and it’s clean-spotless, Floors, clean as well. Well food, I had some tacos – lengua(tongue), asada(steak), camarón(Shrimp), puerco(pork), and chorizo(chorizo). Those were my choices for the tacos, but, they came with a double tortilla – not really a fan of that and the tortilla was a bit; errrm, like it tasted a bit over cooked. That goes for the chips that come at the start, a bit over cooked. The food was good, as I mentioned, but the tortillas was eh. The service was at top notch, mostly because it wasn’t to busy, but she attended us with a smile and a pleasant tone. Do I recommend coming? Sure, if you’re up for something quick an easy, just see if the tortillas are at notch.

My fellow Unilocalers I came on your recommendation for some«authentic» Mexican food. Guacamole — likely prepackaged. Weird tasting. Refried beans — likely prepackaged. Bland. Quesadilla — not good. Shouldn’t be hard to mess up. Cuban Torta — had a sliced hot dog and overly fried egg in it? I’m a pig and only ate half of my food. That says a lot. The only reason they got 2 stars is my wife is sitting next to me. She is the most lovely and beautiful woman on the planet, and also a softie who feels bad about me giving a 1. I’d recommend Pancho’s Burritos just north of this place on Golf Road.

Great little Mexican place — authentic food, friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere. This has become my local go-to for good Mexican food. The shrimp cocktail is phenomenal as are the«street-style» tacos. Great food, great prices, great little place.

This is a nice place, really small and compact. The service was friendly and we got quite a lot of food. Got the complimentary chips n salsa, we ordered the quesadilla with chicken, the shrimp tacos and the chicken with mushrooms. Everything was pretty good. We spent less than $ 10 per plate here so I thought it was well worth it.

oooooh finally a Mexican joint with an authentic taste! 4 stars for value, fast and friendly service, and freshly made food! No 5th star because of it’s location. Although this place is less than 5 miles from my house, there’s just nothing else in that location that I frequently visit. Besides the construction on Bode rd is a killer obnoxious waste of time! Anywho… Let’s talk taco! The pastor taco is super tasty, I highly recommend. I also had the steak taco and that was good too but just like all steak taco, it’s dependent on it’s marinate. I would skip the steak. I also got the chicken quesadilla and that was a home run. It was hearty and full of flavor! Corn in a cup was delish although it’s not enough to share… don’t forget the spicy powder! I did not dine-in which was a great decision because the ambiance of this place is totally old school. It can really use a renovation, but I didn’t really care because I came in, paid and got back to my house to enjoy this authentic delicious food. I will most definitely return. MUSTHAVE: pastor taco

Looked very shady late on a Friday night but actually was pretty good. Food– The biggest reason this place doesn’t deserve a fourth star is because of their chips and salsa. The chips were decent, but the salsa was awful. It had no texture, a puddle of juice with a hunk of tomato in it. From there it gets better though. For dinner I had one pastor taco and one steak taco. The pastor taco was flavorful and really good with the sauce they bring for it, same with the steak taco. I also tried the shrimp quesadilla which was delicious with loads of fresh pico. Service– Was decent, not much to comment about. Food didn’t take too long.

— walked right in and sat down — chips and salsa on the table — fast service — decent décor — ordered the shrimp quesadillas — nothing to complain about with the taste and it was surprisingly light for the style of food — overall not bad but not too good

This is my first experience with their food and it was quite the treat. Definitely fresh ingredients and a great quantity. We had 5 steak tacos for starters and it was a belly buster for the price. They bill by ingredient which helps keep the cost down for those picky people. We also had horchata, which I will go out on a limb and say that it’s the best in the Chicagoland area(or at least from what iv3 had) What surprised me the most was that free chips and salsa came with our to go. Definitely give this spot a shot for some fast to go.

Nice little neighborhood Mexican place with authentic food. We sat down at an empty booth, and were greeted immediately with menus. I went for the pastor tacos and a tamale. My friend got the chicken tacos. We also shared a quesadilla. While the chips and salsa were just meh, I thought the rest of the food was fresh, fast and delicious. Also, the prices are awesome. If I lived in the area, I’d be stopping by often. I do wish they would update the décor a bit as the inside looks run down.

It’s been 3 years since finding this fantastic Mexican restaurant and I am so happy to say that absolutely nothing has changed in regards to the quality of food or the incredible prices. It’s my favorite place to eat anywhere in the area, including the expensive restaurants! My family has been eating here on a weekly basis since we found it and I’ve treated many friends to lunch here as well. We even had them cater our son’s birthday party and every single parent asked where the food was from, parents and kids alike devoured the steak and chicken tacos we had! After all that time we’ve definitely settled on our favorite dishes. I love the steak tacos, $ 2 a piece(10 cents extra for cheese). The meat is delicious and tender with no gristle whatsoever. If I’m extra hungry or want a small change of pace I’ll order the steak quesadilla, which is $ 6 and comes with tomatoes, sour cream, and guacamole. This is more like a mini-burrito than a traditional quesadilla but the flavor is out of this world. My wife is a slave to the $ 6 ham torta, which is a huge sandwich. My two young boys prefer the chicken and tongue(!) tacos, which we get on flour tortillas at no extra cost because their grubby little hands tend to make a mess of the corn. I’ve tried a few other things on this menu and I’ve never had anything that wasn’t great, nor have I heard anyone say anything negative about their food in the years I’ve been bringing people here. Best of all, the thing that really excites me, is that this didn’t start out great and slowly decline in quality or increase their prices as so many new mom & pop restaurants do. The only price increase I know of is the additional 10 cents for cheese on a taco, which is not a problem at all for me since the prices are already so reasonable. In fact, there is literally not another place, including the worst fast food, that my family can eat for less money, and certainly not for this quality. They are also very fast and attentive for takeout. I regularly call my order in and it is ready when I arrive 10 minutes later. Recently the restaurant finally hung a new lit sign to be more easily found, and made small updates to the small dining area which include a big juke box. They also updated their credit card system which now allows a tip to be written in as most places do. No more accidentally stiffing the waitress! One small warning if you are planning to dine in: there are only four-person booths and one or two small tables. You can make do and cram in about 8 people by pushing tables together but it’s pretty tight, so I’d recommend coming with no more than 4 people unless you’re willing to split up. I cannot praise this place enough and I’m so glad that my original review has been so helpful in directing people to my favorite Mexican restaurant.

Taqueria Los Juanes was quite a surprise for me. Unless you happen to be walking right past it or know it’s there, you won’t notice it. Not at all a fancy store front and the strip mall it’s located in might make one think it’d be better to bypass and look elsewhere… DON’T! This may’ve been some of the best Mexican food I have had outside of a Mexican home. The flavors were delicious, the presentation appealing, the prices unbelievable(seriously, all of the meals ordered by my party were under $ 7 I believe), and the restaurant clean. I got the steak quesadilla. When I think quesadilla, I think that flat bready thing with some cheese stuffed in the middle and stuff piled on top of it. This creation was far from it(see picture). It was packed with meat and cheese and rolled up into a mouthful of deliciousness with a side of guacamole and sour cream to top it off. It was a perfect portion and even a little too much for me to finish, priced around $ 6 and some change. My boyfriend got a large chicken burrito: also good; his brother got a dessert: great! The service was fine, our waitress didn’t really check on us at any point during our meal and almost forgot to get us more chips and salsa, but she was ok. The restaurant, as I mention, seemed clean and orderly though my boys were offended by the«brick» paneling(they’re brick snobs, lol, weird I know). There is a TV, of course playing Spanish channels, which is appropriate because this place seems seriously authentic. I’d definitely give Taqueria Los Juanes a try, it is worthy of your business. It’s located on Bode near the intersection with Salem. Found in the same strip mall as 7-Eleven, the liquor store, the day care, etc., so there is lot parking(or very walkable from the local apartments/neighborhoods). They do takeout and fyi, there is a $ 5 minimum on credit cards/debit cards.
