Came here many many times since it was so close to Union. Usually got the elephant poop or tried some of the funny-named combos that they have. Really cozy place with a huge variety of ice cream flavors. Never actually got food from Bumpy’s but for an icecream store it is definitely the best in the area. They also make ice cream cakes! I called ahead to get a sheet and it was really good. Not pricey either. The lady on the phone was extremely nice and helped me through the process since I didn’t even know what a sheet was. Really nice place to come in the spring, summer and fall. They have benches set up so people can enjoy their icecream and chat. Parking is limited and can be a problem on weekends when it gets crowded. Definitely a cute place to go after getting dinner!

Bumpys changed ownership and it has done nothing but go downhill in quality since then. I’ve been there twice now. The first time I was served by the new owners themselves, a misshapen, drippy cone. I couldn’t believe they even served it! Today I tried to eat a strawberry sundae. The strawberries tasted off, like they’ve been unrefrigerated for extended periods of time. The«ice cream» was not nearly the same quality as before. It is certainly poor compared to other options in the area, Muffins, Kurver Kreme, Coney. I threw it away but the taste remains in my mouth. Unbelievable.

Best ice cream place in the area, no question. I know people are always loyal to whichever ice cream place they’ve always gone to, but if it’s not Bumpy’s, lose the zero and get with the hero! They’ve got just about every flavor of ice cream you can imagine plus chocolate dipped sprinkle cones and sundaes that are to die for. The price is great, the service is great, and everything they make is absolutely delicious.

I love Bumpys with all my heart. I visit once a year from NYC specifically for the peanut brittle. Maybe next summer I’ll try the rick climbing!

The Turtle Sunday was AWESOME ! ! ! Went back again and had Dutch Chocolate Milk Shake. I live in Dallas and they would have to be open ALL year. Next visit I’ll try one of their other sundae’s.

Ice cream and bumper boats. What’s not to like? Dozens of flavors of decent, if not spectacular, hard ice cream; the soft-serv they will serve you one of 101 flavors, but be forewarned what they do is add flavored syrup to a neutral base. Softserv ice cream is a wholly artificial product anyway, so stop your belly-achin’ and just eat its yumminess. You can also get your usual fried fast food here but we have not indulged this, the«scream» being the main summer attraction. There’s a nice variety of picnic tables outside, where you can take in the scenic vistas of State Street or the IHOP across the street, and some park benches along the chain link fence separating you from the boats. If the bumper boats are running, it’s pretty decent for a free floor show. I’m not entirely sure what the hours of operation are for the boats, but the tickets are currently $ 3.95 each per«ride», which seems like a real bargain to me given the enormous about of aggression one can take out in a relatively short ride. As ever with such things, it’s more fun if there are more people. There’s a three-seater bumper boat(maybe two, I couldn’t tell), which requires an adult in the middle seat, otherwise kids can drive themselves if they’re 48″ or higher. Parking’s a bit limited, although there’s another tier around back wedged in next to the car wash. More goofy good Schenectady fun. You can schlep up to the water park in Saratoga County and pay a gazillion dollars for some fancy water slides, or you can smash and splash your friends and loved ones for four bucks.

I grew up in New York City, so there were never any ice cream parlors around that weren’t Baskin Robbins or another big ice cream chain. I passed by Bumpy’s pretty often when I visit Schenectady and didn’t realize why it was called Bumpy’s until I stopped in. Bumper boats!!! Who came up with such an awesomely unique idea?!? It’s such a great place to take a date after dinner or after a movie or something. Of course, the huge selection of ice cream is a hugeeee perk, but bumper boats?! That’s amazing! The motors on the boat I was riding got a little hot, making me a little nervous, but it was a ton of fun. It made me feel like a kid again, giggling like a little girl as I rammed my boat into other people. Be warned — if you get on these boats, you might get wet. I got ice cream here a few times before finally decided to check out the boats. The ice cream was delicious, although they skimped a little bit on the graham crackers and didn’t include the marshmallows in the Smores sundae I ordered. I loved the fact that they have the selections found on an ice cream truck, and since I’m a huge fan of soft serve ice cream, their seemingly never-ending selection of soft-serve ice cream flavors was overwhelming — in a good way. I love this place. I’ve never had anything like it before! After coming here the first time, I got my boyfriend to bring me here almost every time I visit after dinner. Nothing but praise for Bumpy’s! :)

The ice cream and huge selection is to DIEFOR!!! They use the best quality ice cream and mix it with the best stuff. The employees are always friendly too… the burgers and fries are good too but it’s the ice cream that makes this place great! Never have done the bumper boats but they got those too

The ice cream here is pretty good. Similar to what you can expect to find at a lot of the ice cream stands around. Staff is friendly, cones are large, and they have the cool popsicles you could get from an ice cream truck. The added benefit here is the bumper boats. They are super hard to drive and may make you smell a bit like exhaust, but they are great fun. It’s a great way to supplement your ice-cream cool down.
