Our Original Pizzeria

I was in the mood for a «different» pizza — I enjoy all types of pizza — if its dough w sauce n cheese I usually am game to give it a try… The reviews were very good on Unilocal — so I thought why not give them a try? I will say out of all the pizza joint in Schenectady this one probably has the largest menu I have seen! However — if you can’t convince me with a basic 8-​cut and some wings — I sure as hell ain’t gonna order anything else to find an improvement. I know that pizza dough doesn’t really do anything to add to the flavor of a pizza — but I think if I had put sauce and cheese on the box it would have tasted about the same. It was very tough — the kind of crust you really gotta chew a lot!
My very first instinct was to cancel the order because the woman who answered the phone was not even remotely friendly. Apparently I was interrupting her evening with my phone call, insulted her when I inquired if they had any pizza/​wing specials (typical question you would think). Then I wanted a delivery? (oh-​Jeez)! I felt like I was confronting the pizza Nazi.
As a fellow business owner — I am well aware that it isn’t really the customer that makes the business successful — its the REPEAT customer!
Sadly there is no way I would opt to order from Our Original Pizza again because there was nothing about the tasteless pizza with the chewy crust or the unremarkable wings that justified the price they charged ($ 30), The complimentary bitch-​titude is probably turning people away left and right. I understand they are located in a tough section of town, however there’s absolutely no need to let the hospitality go by the wayside. There’s pizza joints in much less desirable locations who go out of their way to be nice to their customers because they hope to keep them coming back.

Haven’t eaten from here, but tried to order delivery, and got a full serving of attitude for free! At $ 30 for a large 3 topping pie, I’d rather pass.

This is my favorite pizzeria in the Capital Region. Their New Yorkers are as good as they get. Pricing is very reasonable and you get great value for the $$$$.
If you ask them to customize your pizza, they will do it [within reason, of course]. Carry out or sit down. Go by for lunch and chit-​chat with Sylvie while your custom pizza is in the oven. Our Original is great food and is not the average «cookie-​cutter» type pizza that you can expect from the competition.

I tried their sausage pizza because I had a coupon. It was terrible. I usually get pizza at I love new york pizza on union st which is wonderful but a little pricy. It was hard to say what was worse the cheese or the crust.

Let’s talk about the food, because that’s what it’s really about.
I generally order the pizza. The crust is flavorful, the sauce is dynamite, and the toppings taste REAL. When I don’t order the general pizza, I go for their artisan pizzas. I really like their panatone (sp?) which is like Perreca’s Pizza, BUT BETTER!!! In fact, I’ve dubbed it «Better Than Perrecas!»
One day, I was told by one of their workers to try the burger sub. In my opinion, that sounds crazy! I ordered! And for the price you pay, you get your moneys worth! It’s the length of an Italian bread loaf, you can have whatever toppings on it, and the meat. OMG the meat is juicy, and melt in your mouth.
If you follow them on Facebook, they post dinner specials. The other week I got their chicken marsala. I never had chicken marsala in my life, I read about it on Wikipedia, and decided I wanted it. IT WAS AN ORGASM IN MY MOUTH PEOPLE!!! The flavors, the smell, the look, it was all wonderful.
When I don’t get their pizza, the dinner special, or the burger sub. I get the chicken tenders and fries. They sent their bbq sauce with the tenders, which is an excellent and flavorful sauce. They also sent raspberry sauce for the fries. Disgusting you’re thinking? Think wrong! It’s a contrast of salty and sweet!
What else to mention? Not enough space to mention it all! You have to go there and try it! I only wish they were closer to me, so I didn’t have to drive all the way up to Crane St.
