Would give 5 stars but this was only my first time. Excellence all around. Great tasting dogs not overly dressed. Slaw was real and you can actually taste the cabbage.

Best hot dogs in the capital district. Get the dogs with meat sauce. It’s like a skyline chili dog from Cincinnati, great stuff. Always worth the stop.

If you ever stop at pilots truck stop and are looking for something besides gas station food– DONOTGOTOTHISPLACE. Worse food ever and to pricey. You can eat better in the gas station or subway or walk ½ mile down the road to the pizza shop. They have regular hot dogs for 2.50 a piece and these hot dogs Are worse then store bought hot dogs. They also have mini hot dogs for a $ 1 a piece and when I say mini I mean little smokies mini. What a joke. Hamburger patties are pre made probably from SAMs and chips are 1.50 a piece for the very little bags. Also had cole slaw, baked beans, and macaroni salad and they weren’t even worth the second bite. This is prob the worse restaurant I have ever been too. Save your time and money.

For the impatient: hotdogs and burgers worth driving 30 minutes for. Look, I love hotdogs — to me they are the quintessential American street food. There is nothing quite like a dog with kraut and spicy mustard when you’re in the mood. Or meat sauce, or Chicago– style, or… well, you get the point. Pete’s pups is the perfect place to scratch that hotdog itch. In addition to great dogs, they’ve got burgers, sausage patties, and more. Plus beer. All the food is fresh, and the sides are all homemade. They know how to treat a hotdog. Little things like draining the kraut a bit before putting it on the dog so the bun won’t end up a soggy mess. Finally, they keep this place CLEAN. Always a good sign. It’s become our favorite place for hotdogs in the area, and we are willing to drive 25 – 30 minutes to eat here.

Really, really overpriced for what you are getting at this place. I had an uninspired kielbasa, a side of «home made» beans, and a bottle of water which ran me about $ 9.50. The menu is pretty bare, written haphazardly on a whiteboard, and the seating area and bathroom is pretty uncomfortable. If they had something on the menu worth going here for, I am sure it would be more successful.

Stopped in for lunch to try their mini hotdogs. The buns were nice and soft, flavorful meat sauce without being too spicy or greasy. Nice laid back dining area, with a few tables on the porch. I heard their mac and cheese is very good. Overall, it’s a good place for a cheap lunch.
