Me and my wife dined there recent. The ruben fritters were awesome. Also enjoyed the fish n chips as well.

Gotta give this place the crown of Irish Pubs in Schenectady. Come for the good selection of beers, the Reuben, and the Irish pub atmosphere. The pub ambience is great here, exposed bricks throughout, and a lot of history here. They offer local mad Jack brews here which is cool, plus Irish pub standards. The Reuben is awesome here! I’ve tried some of their other sandwiches and apps as well, but when I’m at a place like this I’ve just got to get the Reuben :)

We have been customers of this place for the past two or three years and have always loved their beer and atmosphere. However, tonight was a major disappointment. The IPA was outstanding, as usual. We enjoyed a serving of the Ultimate Nachos which were good, as usual. However, we ordered our meal and when my Cesar salad came there was no white creaminess to be found. The«new» chef presented a creamy Italian dressing on the salad stating that it was a new creamy version of the old Cesar dressing they used to serve. How insulting!!! Everyone that knows Cesar knows that there is no Italian version of Cesar dressing. Apparently, they ran out of Cesar dressing, substituted creamy Italian and tried to pass it off as Cesar dressing. Had they said, «we ran out of Cesar dressing would you like something else» I would have chosen a different dressing and been happy with what I had chosen. However, I was never given that option. Appalling!!! It is soooo sad that something as simple as salad dressing can turn a loyal customer to an apprehensive, untrusting participant. The owner should sit up and take notice that something so simple could create such apprehension in a past loyal customer. My intelligence has been insulted and I will think twice about coming back. My usual tip on my $ 60 bill would have been $ 10-$ 12. My tip was less than $ 4. I have no other recourse. I explained my concern to the waitstaff and was simply told that it was a new cook and that was the correct dressing for the salad. She had no real concern for my dissatisfaction. I ate my Italian salad, paid my bill and left. I don’t expect gourmet service at Pinhead’s just honesty. How sad…

We saw this from the train on the way to New York, googled it and was fascinated with the story. I think we saw the graffiti before but that could be creative memory. Food was great. Beer was vey good. Wait staff was excellent. You should go.

The bar was great, and the owner seemed like a pretty solid dude. I had the scallop and shrimp over pasta. I wasn’t too impressed with the scallops. I would have preferred a better sear on them. The plate was fair priced, just not a big wOwZer! The sweet potato fries came highly recommended but they were out. I’m still not sure how I feel about the name of the restaurant, and the story behind it. They have a full page on the back of the menu describing why it is called Pinhead Susan’s. I thought the story was pretty dumb and meaningless. I think they should have made up something else, or improved the variations on the menu instead. I’m sure ill be back, if nothing else for the alcohol.

Pinhead’s is my go to downtown Schenectady place to eat. Luv the sweet potato fries. They make a killer Reuben too. Guinness burger is good but a little dry. Good bar/pub feel… like to go here for lunch or when going to the movies at Bowtie.

I don’t got to Schenectady often just because it feels like it is hours away from Troy and I’m kinda lazy, but I was at Union College watching a hockey tournament and needed food so my parents and I stopped here. I got a burger with bacon and blue cheese. It was prepared medium-rare as I requested with lots and lots of bacon. Ummm, I don’t have much else to say. It was a good burger. The waitress was friendly. I’d stop in again if I was in Schenectady.

Solid selection of microbrews. Turkey & artichoke melt was fab, and so were the sweet potato fries. Waitress was on top of things throughout our stay. We’ll totally go back.

Big St. Patty’s Day event today. Advertising Corned beef and cabbage… always wanted to try this place so packed up my wife, daughter(18), son(20) and his college buddy(21) to sample their fare. Alas, since my kids aren’t 21, we were denied entrance. Bouncer had to check with the owner, who said«no» can’t come in. As the GM of a local automobile dealership accustomed to providing and analyzing customer service this seemed a bit over the top. We were asked if we would be staying for the bands that were playing later, and said we were there for the meal No dice, the kids weren’t 21. This in spite of youngsters clearly visible in the establishment through the windows. Opted instead to go for Italian.(We’ll do the corned beef and cabbage thing at home tomorrow). Had a wonderful meal at Perreca’s, dropped $ 200.00 there. I guess two underage kids eating dinner with their parents was too big a risk for Pinheads… appears the place is aptly named. You only get one chance to make a first impression, based on that, we won’t be back.

I decided to check out Pinhead Susan’s, an Irish style pub in Schenectady. The pub fare was decent, but nothing seemed to stand out to me to make this place make me want to add a few stars. I had a beer to go with my meal, and Pinhead Susan’s has a decent beer selection. I had dined on some macaroni and cheese mixed with corned beef, which while it was tasty, wasn’t really filling. Maybe if I come back here another time, I may have a better experience.

Their crab dip. I want that all the time. I could eat that stuff with ANYTHING, I swear. I wound up at Pinhead’s when I was in town just before Thanksgiving because Katie O’Byrnes was full to the rafters. I’m glad I wound up heading over here instead, because it was much easier to hear my boyfriend without the din. We started with the crab dip which, if you haven’t guessed, is now a huge favorite of mine. It came with tricolor chips that were surprisingly stale, but the dip itself was fantastic and needed no support to shine. Local beer selection is fantastic and they have plenty of things on tap. I would recommend one of the local stouts, of which I tried and loved both(they only had two). My boyfriend ordered Adirondack IPAs, which I am not a fan of, but he enjoyed them well enough. Our dinners were lackluster, to be honest, hence the three stars. I had a burger that was a perfect medium rare, but the bun was chewy and the toppings ran all over the plate. The waffle fries were okay, but also on the mushy side. My boyfriend had a Buffalo wrap and a side salad, and as a guy who went to Syracuse University and spent plenty of time eating legit hot wings, the sauce didn’t begin to stack up. The waitress was attentive, but the place was mostly empty. Overall, if you want a nice place to relax, catch the game and decomp, this is perfect. Not a «scene» bar, but probably good if you want to check a Proctors show — they labelled things in the menu as being show-friendly, so time budgets aren’t an issue. I think Wicked was in town when we were there, so I may visit home again for a Pinheads-and-off-Broadway run.

It’s a loud and noisy pub that is plenty alive. The food is pretty good but I don’t know if it’s authentic Irish or not. There is parking across the street. I think the restaurant is better known for it’s name than anything. The service is decent too. Little kids could be overwhelmed by the noise.

I loved the Irish fries(aka sweet potato fries). The only mistake we made was going before the theater, because that’s what everyone else did. Apparently, not a very well kept secret. The food was very good.

I liked this place the first few times I ate here. Over time, though, I developed a dissatisfaction with Pinhead Susan’s. I’m not sure if they made changes to their kitchen staff or food prep, but something changed and I don’t think the quality is as good as I recall it being. On top of that, there were some particularly irritating servers. I have to say though, there was one employee here who I got a kick out of. They had the kids’ version of Jeopardy on TV and the bartender was really getting into it. But his answers were completely off the wall. My favorite one went something like this: Trebek: «Sitting Bull was the chief of this Native American tribe.» Bartender:(with complete seriousness and confidence) «INDIANS!» Frank: «What the fuck, man? Really? Not only is that ridiculously incorrect, but it’s not even in the form of a question!» tl;dr — As humorous as that guy was, I’m really not inclined to go back.

Fun place to go with friends for drinks and a quick bite to eat. Food was definitely good, perfect proximity to Union College. Very good for such a desolate area of New York. Would certainly go back.

OK, this time I’ve gotta be careful. I eat here. I like to eat here. I want to be able to eat here again. This place isn’t 75 years old. But it feels like the bar I had my burgers and brew at when I was in high school. No, they don’t serve 16 year old’s. But, the bar I went to in high school did. Different time, different place, different culture. I like the bar. I like the beer. I like the food; burgers, sandwiches, steaks. I don’t like the table service.

A good location, a decent pub. Good for a beer and a burger, service is fast, the bartenders are friendly and the menu offers something for everybody in your party. Not to mention reasonable prices. A great place to meet for a few pints and sharing some pub food.
