Best pizza I’ve had in a long time. The spinach pie(deep dish) was awesome. The sausage, pepperoni and bacon pizza was also great. I get tired of the endless NY style thin crust. It’s nice to have a variety. Great place. Good prices too.

Awesome pizza. 7 of us and we all had different slices ranging from chicken Alfredo pizza to traditional meat lovers. Multiple vegetarian options. Highly recommended. The crust was great.

Large variety of pizza by the slice, nice and hot(at lunch, dinner selection is more limited).

We’ve only ever ordered by the slice here, and then for emergency snacks for the kids when on Jay Street during odd hours. The plus here is they have 15 or 16 types of pizza ready for slices. It’s New York style with an array of toppings, and it’s all pretty standard. Drink options are limited to fountain plus some bottled stuff. They have a full range of sandwiches and pasta dishes, but I haven’t had the stomach to try them, in part because, yes(see picture) the menu has been literally spattered with somebody’s dinner both times we went in. Our visits were six months apart. Draw your own conclusions on the hygienic standards.

Probably the best pizza you can find downtown. Specialty slices are great there, spinach pie is one of my favorites. Occasionally they’ll have out a spicy calamari marinara pizza, don’t pass it up! Convenient location is nice, walking distance from just about anywhere downtown. One drawback is that they’ve recently discontinued their delivery service… Bummer.

It’s still good pizza, but with the king gone, it’s no longer sing-it-from-the-mountaintops great pizza. Gone are the days of that magnificent crust, with its puffy edges and deep flavor. But I’m sure that’s going to make some people happy, because these days the cheese and the sauce extend further out towards the circumference of the pie. The variety of pies available by the slice has also diminished, but I’m okay with that. The shop has kept the important ones. And the thing to remember is that Pizza King still makes a solid slice. The bottom is nicely burnished. The pizza is cooked on the oven floor without the use of a screen. Most importantly, it’s full of flavor. That said, I can’t say it’s worth a drive from anywhere. Although if I’m in downtown Schenectady and looking for a slice with the kids, this is where you’ll find me.

«Solid Schenectady Slice» by Josh K. Pizza King is a reliable choice for a slice in downtown Schenectady. Great location with so many slices to choose from — the baked ziti pizza in particular seemed to be a cult favorite. I will get that next time. Whenever visiting a pizza shop for the first time, I stick to cheese to make a better judgement. Now I usually prefer fresh slices, but you have to order ahead or have good timing to have that at Pizza King. Here, you should expect your slice goes directly into the oven to be warmed up. And surprisingly, this is a good thing. Like your favorite NYC slice shop, the good crisp crust does well when reheated in the oven. The regulars seemed to always ask to have it in the oven a little longer than usual. My gripe: Get some more cheese and sauce on your slices, and I will keep coming back because there is just too much of that nice crust — the pizza seems too doughy. I still prefer«I Love» pizza for slices, but Pizza King is now definitely on my radar.

It appears a prior employee has taken over the business after the original owner’s death. The pizza quality is the same(excellent), but the customer service is greatly improved. The interior décor has been updated as well. The counter staff is friendly and they now accept credit cards. One of the young women who works the register is particularly pleasant. Upgrading from 3 stars to 4.

Absolutely the best pizza. I’ve been getting pizza from Pizza King and John since they had first come to Schenectady. Their baked ziti pizza is awesome, made with real garlic and perfectly al dente and not overcooked. Their garlic knots are delicious with marinara sauce and I always grab an order of them when I’m there. You definitely won’t regret getting your pizza from here to eat~! Even the crust is good Lol John always said it was something in the water, he is missed.

My dads pizza was the best pizza around even better than most NYC pizzas because he grew up in the Bronx! I miss his pizza so much after he passed away 6 months ago that’s the only thing he wanted to leave to us was his recipes and his stories. He trained his cousins and workers and finally his«right hand man» Fahreed took it over and I have to say. Walking into it for the first time seeing all the pizza exactly how he made it has brought tears to my eyes. Long live the king!!! Miss u dad.

Pizza King delivers a great tasting pizza, even for this person who grew up eating slices of regular pizza(or as most people call it, cheese pizza). Pizza King offers a great variety of pizza choices, both in cheese and gourmet slices. For instance, they serve chicken alfredo, BBQ and seafood scampi as some of their gourmet pizza options. However, there’s other factors in the mix that knock down Pizza King’s ratings down to three stars. Pizza King is a little pricy for the Schenectady pizza market, plus they don’t offer a pizza and soda special that most other pizza places offer.

Why is it that all the pizza joints in downtown Schenectady suck? Let’s start with the most important aspect of a business. The staff. Arrogant, «I’m better than you», and filthy. The name? Pizza King? I didn’t know it was name your business the opposite of what you are. Seriously, Pizza King? Let’s try garbage king. Gourmet Pizza? So, you put some macaroni on some pizza with your shitty sauce and week old cheese and think it’s gourmet? I won’t even touch on the deco, because that’s a joke too. Bottom line Pizza Fools, change your product and your attitude.

Pizza King: fit for a king’s budget. The pizza here is horrifyingly expensive, and does not deliver the taste that it should for the price. Sure the place has a ton of different

Expensive. Overrated. Mediocre. Cocky. None of the pizza options in Schenectady are very good so I guess this place is best of the worst. It’s truly mediocre pizza. Call it gourmet all you want: that doesn’t mean that it’s great. Like the other places I’ve been to in Schenectady, the sauce is boring and doesn’t stand out. The slices are pretty generous in size, but size alone doesn’t mean it’s any good. Worse, it’s pricey and the woman working the register is the pizza shop version of Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi. Listen lady, I know that you think you make the greatest pizza in the history of human civilization, but you don’t. I can think of 1001 places that blow Pizza King away, so try to be a little more pleasant to the people burning money in your shop. If I’m craving pizza I’ll just take the car ride to Homestyle. I work right near Pizza King but the 5 – 10 minute drive to Homestyle is a far more preferable option. My advice: you can do a lot better than Pizza King.

This is the second best pizza I’ve ever eaten in my life. No kidding, and I grew up in the suburbs of NJ so trust me. I’ve sampled my share of pizza. Pizza king has large slices, gourmet ingredients, creative specialty pies, and a clean comfortable restaurant to sit in. My personal favorites include the cheesesteak pizza(with american cheese, peppers, onions, and beef) and the simple plain slice. Make sure you bring some cash, because they don’t accept credit cards. The only thing wrong with this pizzaria is that they essentially run on bankers hours! Don’t bother showing up in the late evening(after 8pm?) or on Sundays(closed).
