I had gone here years before and loved it. I talked my boyfriend into going with me tonight to see if it was still as good as I remembered. Everything was terrific. From the cozy atmosphere that’s more like an extension of your living room,(they had cute halloween decorations on the door,) to the excellent food, and friendly waitress. I love mexican food, and it’s not easy to come by in Schenectady. I had the beef soft tacos and I couldn’t have asked for more. The portion was huge(I’ll have enough to feed me probably two more times,) as well as delicious. I like spicy and they had the best spicy salsa I’ve ever had. The tortilla tasted homemade. However even if you’re not a mexican food lover they have something for everyone. Several of the specials that night sounded great. My boyfriend got a burger and was equally as thrilled as I with everything. The fries were homemade, as well as the beef patty, and both of our meals came with soup to start. The best part? His burger was one of the specials so our bill was crazy cheap. We will definitely be going back. What a great little gem of a place tucked away near Rotterdam. I encourage anyone to give it a try, you will NOT be disappointed.

Who would’ve thought this little hole in the wall would have the best biscuits and gravy and French toast I’ve had in a long time?! It’s a small place but don’t let that dissuade you. Have some breakfast and enjoy!

Went there twice in a weekend while visiting from Maine. Want a GREAT breakfast? This is the place to go! Delicious food, friendly and prompt service — we had Karen and Jenny for servers, and they’re both absolute sweethearts! Anytime I’m anywhere near Albany at breakfast-time, this is where I’m going!

We enjoyed great service from out hostess on a late Saturday afternoon as well as a great dinner. I had a seasonal salad special(nothing really«Mexican» about it, so more from the«American» side of the menu)– very tasty! My partner enjoyed the Fiesta Mexicana platter — also really great! Great alternative to a diner or a larger Mexican-style restaurant, especially in terms of service and food quality. OH! And we also ordered coffee with dinner(kinda odd, I guess). Our waitress made sure to brew up a fresh pit for us. Appreciated!

Went for Mexican but it was just ok. Got the Fish Tacos plate with rice and beans. Taste was alright but very uniform across the entire dish. The rice was nothing to write home about. The Guac was probably the best thing i had on the plate. Fried pieces of fish didn’t taste seasoned and it was pretty salty. Won’t go back any time soon.

I’ve been there once for dinner and got the carnitas tacos. It was just okay, the pork was dry and they don’t give you a lot. The service is what will make me come back. Thinking I’ll try the breakfast next.

This is our family’s go to spot for lunch. The Chicken Enchilada Soup is amazing! I often get the Chef Salad. My husband loves their taco salad. Over the years we’ve eaten many items from their menu and have always been pleased with our choices.

Never a bad meal… from Mexican to American you can not go wrong. Breakfast is great and the SOUPS, YUMMM. Love the family run business with good service. If you can get by the décor and being cramped it is worth the trip…

So I got up late today and felt like I needed some breakfast. Eggs, bacon, toast, coffee… Nothing that a simple Dunkin’s run could satisfy. I remember eating at The Point a couple years ago with some coworkers and it was fairly nice, though it was too early in the morning for my sleep-soaked brain to do more than force cup after cup of coffee down my throat. The coffee is still good, 2 years later, but I wasn’t really pleased with much else. The service was quite slow; only 1 refill on my cup, no refresh on the creamer, and nobody willing to make eye contact. It took just over 30 minutes for a plate of eggs and a breakfast sandwich to make it out of the kitchen even though there was only one other table seated when we got in. It wasn’t busy by any stretch of the imagination. I’m also a bit annoyed that, while we got in before 11, our waitress never sidled over until after 11, so I couldn’t get the breakfast special at that point. Laaaaame. All told, we paid more than $ 20 for a bland, average breakfast. Next time I go to breakfast, it won’t be at The Point.

We just moved, and since we were still too lazy to cook much — Sunday brunch it was! A quick search of Unilocal yielded The Point Café, and the fact it is only a few blocks away sealed the deal. I was«boring» and had eggs, bacon, homefries, and toast(I can’t help it when I crave the basics). The homefries were good and not too greasy. My eggs(over-easy) were cooked perfectly for me… nice slightly runny yolks to dip toast in with no goopy uncooked whites. Bacon was crispy without being burnt. I apparently needed energy and had 3 cups of coffee, and the waitress came back pretty often after my 2nd cup to see if I needed a top-up. Maybe my dark circles were more obvious than I thought? In any case, the coffee tasted fresh and had none of that«been sitting on the burner mostly empty for half a day» burnt flavor. My husband had the chilaquiles(with over-easy eggs instead of the scrambled)…and boy that plate looked hearty. He actually managed to polish off most of the plate. I didn’t taste it, but he said it was good. The great prices(breakfast for 3 people came to $ 26 before tip), friendly service, and overall homey and casual feel make this a place I plan on going back to for breakfast/brunch often.

Without having tried the chilaquiles, I’d probably give this place 3-stars but based on that dish alone, it gets an extra star. If you’re looking for inexpensive, super casual breakfast in Schenectady, go to The Point Café and get the chilaquiles. It’s corn tortillas cut up and cooked with some kind of salsa or mole sauce so the tortilla is soft, then served with scrambled eggs and refried beans. Kind of like a deconstructed breakfast burrito but so much more delicious. I’ve also had an omelette and since then have opted to just stick to the Mexican-inspired dishes as the omlette was pretty bland tasting. I’ve been here once when it was very busy but the service was still quick. I’ve also been here once when it was pretty empty and the service was very slow. While their speed is inconsistent, their friendliness is consistent and makes me enjoy supporting a local business.

Excellent breakfast and service! Priced a little high, the food was fresh and I returned 3 more times for breakfast and a dinner. Well worth the extra ka-ching for the quality! I will be back!

What a pleasant surprise to find this place, despite the fact that you cannot miss its yellow façade when driving past. This place should absolutely be at the top of your list for breakfast spots if you’re in the area. Very good food, very good pricing. I went there for breakfast with two others. My girlfriend and I both ordered the breakfast burrito, and while I was impressed with the quality of the food I did find the seasoning to be a bit bland. Side of hashbrowns were great, and the portions provided were perfect. My father ordered apple pancakes with a side of fresh, of the bone ham. Looked great, and the pancake batter they used looked to be very dense. Definitely a cake. Coffee was great. So rare nowadays that places have good coffee it’s worth mentioning, but it was always fresh, never acidic. This place should get 4.5 stars, if/when I go back if my experience is the same or better I’ll definitely award 5.

super friendly staff, great service, food was fresh, coffee was great, my boyfriend liked his omelet and the hashbrowns but said they could use a little more seasoning. I had the Fiesta Breakfast burrito filled with scrambled eggs, chicken, cheese, and onions and topped with salsa and guac. perfect. served with a side of delicious refried beans instead of potatoes. and the bill for the 2 of us came to $ 20! cheap, fresh, awesome. can’t get much better!
