Worst evening ever. Service was horrible. We had reservations for 7 people for 7 pm. Waitress was totally incompetent. Our drink and food orders took far too long. We inquired, but never received a satisfactory answer. The dining room was emptying but the worst part was when the hostess started vacuuming while we were finishing our meal.!!! It was obvious we weren't pleased. A platter of desserts came as an apology. The evening was already ruined. Sadly, it was a very important birthday.

It’s a great outdoor atmosphere. You can’t beat it. The food is decent but not great. Our last visit was last weekend and we sat outside for drinks. It proceeded to get very cold so we moved Inside for dinner. We asked if we could have the nice pizza we saw outside at the bar. The waiter laughed and said no. God I hate that. The food took over an hour to arrive and like we said it was average. Nothing special. The manager apologized but never offered anything. It will be awhile before we head back.

I was sad to see the bad reviews on this place but with summer quickly approaching and the beautiful outside seating I had to give this place a shot. I have now been quite a few times for lunch and have yet to be disappointed, last time I got the salmon poboy with cajun tater sauce and it was amazing. The wait staff was extremely attentive and friendly, the views are easily the best you will get in the area, and both times my food was very good. I am unsure if this results from new management, a new chef, or an overhaul of the restaurant itself. I would definitely not let the reviews hold you back, I am happy I didn’t!

My wife and cousin and I went to the restaurant today. We ordered our meals and they came out perfect! The service was very good, atmosphere was very calming and relaxing. We will definitely go back again.

I’ve been here twice and haven’t been blown away. Last time we went I had made reservations and we still had to wait a good 15 minutes for our table. The outdoor dining in the summer is awesome and the inside atmosphere is very classy. Both times I’ve been there my food has been eh-not terrible, not great. I would rather go somewhere else if I’m going to pay those kind of prices. The other odd thing was that it didn’t seem that we had just one server. Different people took our drink and food order, brought our food, checked in on us, and gave us the bill. Not sure what that’s about. A lot of people seem to enjoy going here but to me it’s nothing to rave about.

My husband brought me to the Lighthouse for Valentine’s Day. This was our first time there and we will definitely be back. We first shared a coconut shrimp appetizer which was artfully plated and delicious. For dinner, I had the chateaubriand which was cooked perfectly and was as delicious as I hoped it would be. My husband had the Zuppa di Pesce and it was also amazing. Our server was Amy, and even though she was really busy she was attentive and friendly. We may have just found our new favorite place.

Every year in January the Grand Boulevard Fire company has their Instillation of Officers Dinner. Town politicians, members of other fire company’s and wives all attend the dinner to acknowledge and thank the volunteers for their service. For the past 5 years or so we have it at this venue. Rit the manager has always put on a wonderful event for us. I especially like the hors d’œuvre’s that were served. Stuffed mushrooms, scrimp, mini meatballs, vegetables, cheese. It was all wonderful. For dinner I had Chicken Parmesan and my husband had Tortilla-Crusted Tilapia and both were very good. Bread and vegetables were served family style with chocolate mousse and cake for dessert. Everyone had a wonderful evening. Thanks again Lighthouse for another great event.

I’ve had great meals here and at times just average. The place is great for outside seating in the summer on the deck. I would return but there are plenty of other places that are just as good in the area. It is sort of tucked away and private with plenty of parking. I guess to sum it up I would say not great, but not awful either. Service has always been good and never had any issues with that part. Can be a little pricey for what it is. I thought $ 36.00 for a 10oz lobster tail was a bit on the high side.

I have eaten here before, but I went again last evening(I took my boyfriend out for his birthday) and as always, this place never disappoints. The calamari is fried to perfection; not rubbery at all. I had the Kentucky bourbon salmon; he had the beef tips. Both were nicely prepared & tasted excellent — we also ordered a bottle of wine, it was I believe a chardonnay from Katherine’s Vineyard — excellent pairing with both meals! The inside for dining is gorgeous, but since it was such a gorgeous night, we opted to sit outside on the patio. Such a romantic ambiance & our server, Tina, was terrific! I highly recommend this place for great food, an outstanding dining experience & fantastic waitstaff. I am definitely coming back. It’s also a great place for a date!

Our server was great. She was attentive, accommodating, and sweet. The food was all good, though nothing was exceptional. The portions were huge. I took home more than half of my pasta dish. The menu is old school, with typical American dishes that harken back to the 1980s. It’s expensive, with most dishes in the mid 20 dollar range, a couple close to $ 30. At that price point, I expect a more modern menu that changes from time to time. One that is creative, and uses more seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. The portions should be smaller too. Do I really need to cart home a suitcase sized doggie bag? I also didn’t like that butter packets were brought to the table with the bread, like at a diner. It’s tacky at this price point. The Water’s Edge is fine, but it’s too expensive for what it is. If it were cheaper, I’d have a more positive view.

Come for the view and stay for dinner, or dessert! For an appetizer I got the grilled Portabella mushrooms and for dinner, the Haddock. They both were very delicious and full of flavor. My BF and I got there close to closing, but our server Sunny was more than accommodating to us. She made us feel like we just got there when they opened. My favorite was the dessert. Sunny brought out a sample plate to view of each dessert which I loved(dessert menus with pictures aren’t always the best). After drooling at them for a bit we picked the caramel cheese cake. We finished it before she brought out our next round of drinks, so yummy! I would love to stop in again when I’m in town. View, food, and service A+!!!

Had dinner tonight, server Stephen brought entrée which was not as ordered sent back to kitchen to fix. When returned steak was well done. Server returned it to kitchen and never returned with meal. No explanation until I asked for the manager who came out with the meal in a to go box. Cost was removed from bill. Probably will NOT return there. I like to support local restaurants but the service was terrible here!

We went there for the 1st time Saturday night, I expected better. –Pros– outside seating and views very nice, waiter was knowledgeable. –Cons– service slooowww, mixed drinks watered down, food small quantity so so flavors to pricey for ok food. Not a place i would revisit.

Start off with the good — food was good, once we got it. Was a beautiful night, with friends helping them celebrate their anniversary. However, the temperature in the restaurant was 80+ degrees, barely any air moving, and the staff said they could not do anything about it. Our waiter, who will remain nameless, was less than stellar and took forever to get to us. Much less take our order, ask if we wanted salads with out meals or even bring us refills of water and ask if we wanted more drinks. Even the helpers didn’t refill our water. Needless to say it was a frustrating night, though humorous at times due to how bad the service and heat was. Won’t be returning any time soon, and disappointed that a special evening became the butt of many jokes.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. The only thing going for this place is its location, right on the Mohawk River. Rude staff even ruder owner. Avoid, cross the bridge and hang out in Schenectady.

There is seldom a time when I find vegetables on a restaurant menu so I went for it. I also had a party to go to after that included food and wanted to eat light so I had the Grilled Vegetable Napoleon: Zucchini, yellow squash, red onion, tricolor peppers, broccoli, and carrots, served with a roasted tomato polenta; drizzled with a balsamic reduction and Parmesan cheese with Grilled Chicken. The food was cut up in rustic chunks and was very good. The presentation and the triangle formed polenta made the presentation. The server was very attentive and did her job well. The place is great in the spring/summer time because of the nice patio/deck area.

I selected The Water’s Edge Lighthouse Restaurant for my birthday dinner because I love seafood and had heard good reviews about it from friends. This being February, there was only inside dining. When we arrived, we were taken to a small table right next to the bar area. It was awkward seating, partially blocking the entrance to the bar(thus high traffic), and in a very noisy part of the room. I noticed that there was a vacant table across the room next to the window, and inquired if we might be seated there. The man who was seating us — not the hostess — said that it was already reserved. The hostess, seeing my dismay, came over and caught my conversation with this man as I was explaining that I had made the reservation a month ago and that we were celebrating my birthday(all true). She immediately took over the situation and seated us by the window. This is an example of great customer service, and I would give HER five stars! Our waiter, on the other hand, was not on the ball. He was lax on securing our drinks, and did not ask the appropriate questions regarding menu choices and their accompaniments. It wasn’t one instance, it was several. I was under the impression that this dining establishment specialized in seafood. I was disappointed that there were no oysters, and that the seafood selections were very limited. I ordered the King Crab Legs appetizer and they were cooked to perfection. My Halibut Francais was superb in taste but was dumped on the plate in a heap along side a pile of spinach and red skinned potatoes. My companion said his Broiled Scallops were very good. I would have given this restaurant 3.5 stars if permitted. We might return, probably in the summer when we can enjoy the riverside ambiance.

My parents have really enjoyed coming here and I often get them gift cards at Christmas. My boss so happened to get me a gift card for my birthday and my fiancé and I had dinner on Friday. I called to make a reservation and they informed me that they only accept reservations for inside. I decided to make a reservation inside so that if outside was full, we could still have dinner inside. We arrived a little early to have a drink at the bar and the inside was pretty empty. I had one of their specialty cocktails and it was really good when my fiancé had a sam adams. When we went to have dinner, I checked in with the hostess outside to see if they had any tables available and the hostess said it would be a 45 minute wait. We decided to have dinner inside and were seated at a window table. We shared the cajun fried calamari for an appetizer which was spicy and delicious. The marinara was okay, nothing really special. I had the seafood risotto with shrimp, scallops, and lobster and my fiancé had the fish and chips. The risotto was good but I don’t know if I would necessarily order it again. The texture was good but I thought it would have more corn in it and more seasoning. My fiancé said the fish was good but I prefer the fish and chips at Otis and Oliver’s in Latham. I also had a glass of wine with dinner and ordered their house pinot grigio which was okay, I wouldn’t order it again. For dessert we had deep fried cheesecake in caramel sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I forgot what it was called but it was delicious. We saw another couple order it by our table and they said we have to get it so we did, and they were so right!!! I love the location of the restaurant and looking out on the water. I wish we could’ve sat outside but that is okay. If we come back, I am going to try a different entrée. **I heated up my leftovers last night of seafood risotto and added some salt, it made a world of difference. I wish they seasoned my risotto correctly but it tasted good last night.**
