Quality products that last a very long time. I still use my dad’s Tough Traveler backpacking backpack that he bought in the early 1980’s. I broke a plastic snap on it a few years ago and when I brought it in, they fixed it on the spot in a few minutes. I like TT’s little pouches for packing misc. electronics like batteries and cables. I use the bike bag for carrying spares and tools. I don’t visit the store much because their products last so long and because I moved away.

Previous reviews must have been written by family members! Two stars for featuring locally made products and a great return policy, but… The place is like Ft Knox! Even though they are open you have to ring the front doorbell and wait to be escorted in. Not too many peeps shop there because there is a fine layer of dust over everything. When I saw the prices I understand the dust! I don’t mind paying for quality, but this is three to four times what I expect to pay for a nylon bag. Sure, they have every conceivable color and size but I found $ 135 for a simple nylon bag with unpadded, ordinary nylon straps excessively expensive. All the prices where hugely expensive! Check for yourself, but I think this is a front for money laundering… just sayin!

Tough Traveler is a great local business which manufactures high quality backpacks, luggage, child carriers, and other products since the 1970s. All of the products are MADEINTHEUSA using American made materials ensuring the superior quality. Check out the website for the list of products and online ordering: My Dad absolutely loves Tough Traveler products and as a small tyke, he dragged me into the Tough Traveler store on State Street countless times, so he could check out the latest products. It was his toy store. Over the years, my Dad has given me several small backpacks for school books and supplies. Those backpacks are very durable and I still use a dark brown Tough Traveler backpack that’s over 25 years old to carry documents to and from my office.
