Travisteiner Zwickel and Ithaca Flower Power IPA are so good! Mine was so good and my hubby loved his IPA. There’s a lot more parking at this location than in Albany but the food is limited to just smaller dishes and plates. Perfect place to watch the Patriots play on a Sunday afternoon. Peanuts are complimentary, the bartenders are friendly and will let you sample beers if you would like. Great environment and love that it’s only 1.5 mile from our new house

Definitely one of the best bars in Schenectady! Spent many nights here as my friends all did the birthday tour(Bombers Margarita + Boot at Biergarten gets you a free shirt) and overall it’s a pretty cool place to play darts, shuffleboard and the occasional jenga. Parking is limited but you can park across the street and there is plenty of street parking. There’s also an unlimited amount of peanuts that go along great with the vast beer selection. If you like beer and live around the area, I’d definitely get the Wolf Pack card they offer! They sign you up and if you try a liter of all their beers, you get a $ 50 gift certificate. Also, for every liter of beer you get a complimentary free hot dog! We would also come here for soccer games, usually a great atmosphere for el clasico or EPL games. Definitely a good time!

Unfortunately the staff members here are some of the most unfriendly, rude bartenders I have ever come across. The bar was extremely slow, but all of the bartenders(3) are too busy messing around with each other to notice when their patrons need another round. When trying to grab someone’s attention, they act inconvenienced and annoyed.

I love beer and this was my first time at the Beirgarten in Schenectady. Went on a Saturday night and it was crowded, they have darts and this shuffle board game thingy which is cool. Everything was great until I stood on the side of the bar and saw how they clean their glasses. The bartenders literally dunk the glass in dirty brown water and then rinse it in plain water. Then they just wipe it down. That’s it. I get that’s its a busy bar and they go through a lot of glassware but come on. At least do that in the back so i can pretend I’m not drinking 30 different peoples backwash. Gross.

This place was super cool! It is a big room with lots of long tables and some smaller high tops. This place is a great place to go with a big group as there was lots of space. They had tons of awesome beers on tap, many from other countries. They also had a little food station with different sausages and a couple other options. The mac & cheese was awesome and the butternut squash soup was delicious! We visited a few days before Christmas and it was beautifully decorated with trees and wreaths. It really got us into the festive holiday spirit!

My wife and I visited on a Wednesday in early August at about 7:00. There was a nice vibe and the inside carries over to the outside seating giving the place a nice open feel. Once I figured out how to order I went up to the counter and placed and order for soup and a grilled cheese. They were out of all soup or had stopped making them for the summer. The menu was very limited. I changed to two different grilled cheeses. I took out my credit card and was told cash only. I took out a fifty and was told by the person taking my rode he was not sure if he could break a fifty. I got a twenty from my wife’s purse and went to the bar to get drinks. The selection was very large and the bartender was knowledgeable enough to lead me in the right direction. My beer was tasty very good and as expected. My wife had a grilled cheddar cheese and I had a grilled brie, honey and fig cheese. Both were very tasty. I would go back again, probably not fro eat but rather with friends to drink and sit outside.

Prost! The closest one can enjoy German/European brews in a stylish German Biergarten in Upstate NY. Limited menu to Hot dogs and German brats, but free peanuts… Cash only

Great after dinner/theatre beer garden. Crowd of all ages enjoying German draft beers & wine. Darts, table games and hot dog/Superpretzel cart. Beautiful patio. Try the Spaten Drafts. Would get 5 stars if they expanded the Spartan food offerings. Schenectady’s best bar with a friendly lively crowd. Union College hangout with plenty of nearby parking.

So happy to have our own Biergarten in downtown Schenectady. German imported beer is some of the best on earth. Free freakin peanuts. Shuffleboard was a great addition. And the limited menu is actually very good. The concept of inviting food trucks to serve there is awesome, gotta love the local vendor support. My favorite bar.

Atmosphere is great, this is a big open place, people go there to drink great beer at a reasonable price. It has typical German fare, but you don’t go there to dine, you go there to have fun with friends. This is the hottest place in town for happy hour– disregard the poor reviews and go check it out!

Let me start this off as I don’t like beer. But I am pleased to announce they do have nine pin cider on tap. It’s a classic beer garden with long picnic like tables to sit at. They serve brats and the like although I was too thirsty to enjoy any food. The staff was friendly for the most part but nothing from my experiences there stand out. Oh yeah, they also have darts if that is your thing.

Large cafeteria setting 50 different types of beer. Reasonable prices. If you love beer this is your place. Great for a large group of people. Outdoor settings as well for those summer nights.

I was disgusted at this place Its just a hotdog cart surrounded By a building The food was horrible The hot dog was pale, rubbery And had a awful taste I brought it home and my dog who eats Everything would not eat it ? The mac & cheese was gray looking and the pasta was so overcooked that we could Not even distinguish what type of pasta Was used… It was also bland and tasteless This place needs Gordon Ramsey To fix it We will never return Worst food in Schenectady
They made us give a star

Went during the day, and it was fine. Quieter, not a bro-crowd, and not loud. The worst aspect of their Albany location is how incredibly loud it gets. When you’re in one big room, and a bunch of high-pitched college girls are getting drunk on German beer they’re not appreciating… well, it leads to a headache. I did not experience that at this location(granted, it was the Tuesday before New Year’s, in the early afternoon…). If you’re looking for a more pretentious drinking experience with«interesting» beers, the Bier Abbey up the road is also a good experience. Much better for carrying on actual conversations, while avoiding Bros, and their female hanger-ons.

This isn’t my review, it’s from Nina B. You can read what she wrote here: Actually, it’s short. Here’s the full text, «Schenectady location is not worth visiting. The food is awful and overpriced. They don’t have a Unilocal page setup yet, so I’m letting you guys know… fix Schenectady’s Biergarten!» I had some time to kill in between pickleback shots, so I thought I’d do Nina B. a solid and fix the Unilocal part of her problem. My hope is to get to the Biergarten in the new year. Hopefully by the time I make it in there, I can have a better experience.
