I utilized this practice last year for my first pregnancy. I saw Dr. Law at the Stone Oak — Madison Oak office at North Central Baptist Hospital Atrium. The front office staff was very helpful and friendly — they take the time to build up relationships with their patients and are happy to greet you by name when you walk in. The nurses, however, are inconsistent — sometimes you will get a great one, sometimes you get one that you can tell is ready to go home for the day and hit happy hour. Dr. Law is a great doctor — you can tell she cares deeply about her patients. However, you can also tell they book her far too many patients, as she is always very rushed. She wasn’t able to attend the birth of my son, as it was her day off, but there are many other doctors in the practice and the majority of them are great. That being said, early in my pregnancy, when I was probably 10 weeks pregnant, I had some complications. I called the Triage nurse to speak with my doctor. They paged the doctor on call, and never received a response. 4 hours later, I called back. The nurse paged him again. 4 hours after that I received a call and it was from Dr. Garza. He was very curt and impatient with me. You can tell that he had either just gotten out of church or was doing something he had no desire to speak to a patient. I’m sorry — you’re a doctor. This is what you do. Don’t want to be on call — don’t work in a practice. I had another run in with Dr. Garza later in my pregnancy. When I was 32 weeks along and had some lab-work done. His nurse called me and said he’d taken a look at it and it was all normal. I had an appointment with my doctor the following week and she said that he had been mistaken and she wanted to send me for an overnight observation in the hospital for a rare disorder. Dr. Garza hadn’t recognized it and had potentially put me and my child in danger. The scheduler for the office is great, and worked with me very hard to get my extra visits in once I was upgraded to high-risk. The business office, however, is not very good with patients. They weren’t willing to work with my insurance company and HRA for payment, and forced me to pay in full up front before my 3rd trimester. I’m still fighting with the office to be reimbursed, as I have kept all my receipts, and they owe me several hundred dollars. Their lab tech is amazing, and actually has conversations with you while doing your labs, so you’re not thinking about the blood draw. Great customer service there! Their ultrasound tech needs to not make gender guesses, though. At my 12 week visit, she was going back and forth between boy and girl. That is way too early to be making guesses. I will not be using this practice again, after the nightmare that was my last trimester. I switched to another practice for my women’s wellness visits and will not be placing the lives of my future children in this mess of broken-communication and flaky doctors.

Despite a few exceptions, this is my first actual doctor visit. My appt was at 3:30 pm, didn’t see the doctor until 4:30 pm, and finally was done at 5:30 pm. Goodness, gracias! Front desk girls were okay — -could be a little more friendlier. As I walked to through the clinic in the back I heard gossiping — not so professional. I even had one lady say, «is this her?” — eyeing me out. Ummm. okay! I am only a foot away from you! It was my first time there so I did not know how to navigate their maze. When I had to do a urine test and asked where the restroom was I got a smart-ass answer of «there should be a sign on the door.» After I was done with my visit a patient had to tell me that checkout was at a different location of the building after seeing me stand at the front waiting for someone to help me. Anyway, I had an appointment with Dr. Do. Somehow I thought it was a female doc. Nope. Felt uncomfy at first — cuz I was there for my woman annual exam and other symptoms. Dr. Do was able to answer my questions and helped me feel at ease. He was very knowledgeable. Besides a couple of the female staff being rude, I feel comfy coming back to see Dr. Do for future visits.
