Schertz Humane Society

I can not thank them enough. I found a tiny cat in the gutter near our house. It had been raining and she was covered in mud and terrified. I brought her in not knowing how to care for her but did my best. After 24 hours I called the office, I was kindly helped by Tarin. She told me to bring in the cat in. It was determined that the cat was VERY old and in the process of dying. She took the cat and cared to care for it as I was not able to do so. It is nice to have some one to turn to when you have passed your limits.

Not only did my family adopt our newest member from the Schertz Humane Society, but they helped me find a home for a dog I found. No other shelter in the area would even respond to me, but when I contacted the woman who helped me adopt our dog, I got an immediate response.
This organization really cares about animals and since all the animals are in foster homes you know they are receiving love and care right up to the day they come to your home. Our Percy is healthy and happy and we couldn’t be more thankful.
I recommend this organization to all my friends and I recommend it to any Unilocal readers as well. You’ll have an awesome experience and find a best friend.

Today we welcomed Henry a beautiful golden retriever into our family. After hours of searching online and visiting the SPCA and ADL… I was very disappointed in the condition of the animals and how little the staff knew. (I will be reviewing those 2 later)…so back to Schertz… also called Home’s for Pets! You can view their animals online and then you can view and adopt the first and third Saturday of every month at PetSmart at the Forum. I was looking at several potentials online and when I arrive to meet them in person… they were upfront and honest on the best fit for my family. Then they came to my house for a home visit… they had already turned 2 potential families away. We were the right fit.
Even though Henry has heart worms and is getting treatment, you could tell that his foster family was treating him well. He was a local stray and under weight… now he already knows sit and shake. I would recommend calling them if you have an animal to surrender or would like to adopt… or be a foster family.
The whole adoption only costs $ 100…which is significantly cheaper than the local shelters. they do not have a facility so all dogs are with foster families… if you go by Pet Smart on the days they are there, you can meet your new mate. I promise!
