For me– still the BEST pizza in town! Whether ordering to take out or dining in its always consistently high quality! Great family environment! Love Sam’s! East side and the ORIGINAL West side!

Great pizza! Best family atmosphere that we’ve seen so far. Cheesy breadstick appetizer is good but looks like something you threw together in college. And the sauce that is served with it taste like someone simply dumped Italian seasoning straight into canned tomatoes sauce. But the pizza is fantastic! And super affordable! And they have a large play area for kids.

We were looking for a low key place to eat on a Sunday with a toddler. Sam’s reminds me of pizza parlors from my childhood. They have arcade games in the front, and friendly teenagers waiting tables. Pizza was good, and the little slices gave you amnesia about how much you ate. We didn’t have to worry if our toddler burst into a happy song, or played with his Legos at the table. Everybody was pretty chill, lots of families and Wausau locals. Will come again.

This is the place to go for pizza in the Wausau area. The location in Rothschild is great for large groups. The pizza is thin crust and just amazing. They also have a gluten free pizza for people who eat that. It can be a busy place — especially after the local high school sporting events.

This place is a classic. I have been going here since I was a kid. From birthday parties to Christmas parties to meeting friends after a high school football game or dance, it was always the place to be. They have great thin crust pizza! It has a classic feel with a game room and the staff wearing white uniforms and the women in skirts. You can watch them make your pizzas behind the counter. They also have ice cream sundaes and floats.

These 2 locations are Wausau staples. Good pie. Since I can’t make it to Zaffiros in Milwaukee anymore, this place is somewhat(sort of) close when it comes to ‘za.

Sam’s Pizza has become a Wausau staple when it comes to Pizza. Why you ask? Any kid growing up who played sports, was a boy scout or was active in any organization knows Sam’s Pizza because of… PIZZAPARTIES. Sam’s is always the first choice to hold end of the year parties. It has a small game room with video games to keep kids busy while your pie is tossed to perfection. Sam’s Pizza is for thin crust pizza lovers. With tasty cheese, spicy sausage and everything in between, Sam’s offers a perfectly balanced pizza that is greasy as it is good. They also offer malts, shakes and old fashioned desserts to cap off that great pie! If your a Coca-Cola collector or buff, this is a MUSTSTOP. The inside is littered with Coke collectors items you probably couldn’t see many other places. Sam’s will continue to flourish as it holds a special place in the hearts of many, remembering the times spent here as a kid, enjoying fun games, having GREAT pizza and socializing with your friends after D.C. Everest football games. Sam’s is a Wausau staple and well worth the stop if you love thin crust pie!

Good pie, but not great. Not even the best in the city… but it sure does beat the chain-restaurant offerings. Very friendly service(well, this is small-town Wisconsin so that’s pretty typical). The décor tries to be kitschy, but fails in that respect… its just kinda dumpy, dark, and worn-out.

I was in the Wausau area on business and a friend said there was one restaurant in the Wausau area I had to try. It was Sam’s Pizza Palace. I would not say this is the best pizza in the world, but it is defiantly in my top 10. If you like thick crust pizza, this is not the place for you. Their crust is the perfect balance between too thin and hand tossed. There sauce and cheese are balanced so one does not overwhelm the other. They have a wide selection of ingredients and they make sure you have some on your pizza. Even the next day, their pizza was good. The service was great and friendly. This is a small town pizza place, not a chain, you are treated as a friend, not just another customer. I love the décor. I am a Coca-Cola collector, so all the memorabilia on the walls and in cases is worth the stop. The place is clean and large enough for big groups. The make the pizza right out front so you can see the care they put into each pizza. You can only get beer at Sam’s Pizza Palace, one of the reasons I did not give it a higher rating. I like wine with my pizza, but that is not the end of the world, they do service Coca-Cola products.

One of my top pizza places ever! Amazing pizza and fun atmosphere. So great that we ate it 2 times in one day and would have had it the next day as well if we could. Cost to worth it ratio: 5 stars(same price as most pizzas, but SO much better!) Pics: Highlights: — Pizza: I have to start with this since it’s simply amazing! So much so, I think I need to comment on each part that makes up this winning pie: – Cheese: best cheese combo ever. Not sure if it’s cause it’s in the dairy state or what, but the cheese really stands out as being exceptional. Not sure what’s all in there but I definitely tasted the sharpness of cheddar and the mellowness of a white cheese. Whatever it was it worked in a BIG way. And the amount was just right – enough cheese not to feel jipped, but not too much so it’s oozy overkill. – Crust: super thin and pastry-like. A small layer of protection from the cheese so it doesn’t get all over your hands and gives it just enough crunch to go along with the cheesy delight. – Square pieces: I just think this is the cutest thing – bite sized pieces. Kinda like mini candy bars so you don’t feel as bad eating it. ;-) Super star points for having a piece of sausage in the middle of every piece. Only con to this format is that it’s a bit harder to eat the inside pieces, as they are floppier than the crusty ones. You can however, make a cute little pizza sandwich by putting together 2 pieces with the insides facing in. – Sam’s special: I knew it was meant to be when I saw their special is their my favorite pizza topping combination: sausage, onion, and green pepper. 8-) For those non-veggie lovers like the hub, they are hidden so all you see is the sausage on top. Good-sized dollop of sausage too. — Garlic bread: hot and soft with a layer of cheese if you order it like that — Coca-Cola memorabilia: it’s just like my house or a mini version of the Coke museum in Atlanta with the collection of bottles, rugs, cars, plates, etc. This sealed the deal for a match made in heaven for me since I’m big into Coca-Cola collectibles. — Game room: pinball, artic thunder(love this snowmobile game), a little carousel, and all topped off with a with Packer helmet ride. — Open oven area: always like to see em make the pizza. — Ice cream bar: cute little soda-shoppy area with stools where you can get shakes and such. — Friendly staff: our waitress checked in a lot and was very attentive, — Hours: open Saturday for lunch unlike the other location which isn’t open until dinner. This one is also opened til 1am which is fantastic for late night eats. Helpful hint: when out, call ahead, go pick up the pizza right before 1am, go back out for more drinks, and enjoy it after your done for the night. ;-) And yes, we did that! — No boxes: leftovers and orders come in a bag vs. the traditional box which I’m sure saves paper. Lowlights(my flip side to highlights): — None in Cali – you have to go to Wisconsin for this treat! I hear in other parts of Wisconsin you can find Sammy’s that is rumored to be a family member with a similar recipe. — Not open for lunch Sunday: kaboshed our smooshing in 3 Sam’s pizzas in 24 hour plan while we were in town I will always make a stop when I’m around – I heart Sam’s pizza!
