We got Fried Pickles and Coconut Shrimp for apps. The Fried Pickles were great but the Shrimp was just OK(a little plain and not homemade). I ordered the Port & Stilton Burger medium and it came out perfect. All the food was hot and fresh but the entrees did take a little long to come out of the kitchen. I am going back tonight and hope the food is as good as my first visit.

I believe you need this feedback. This was my third time going to the Burger/Bar for dinner with two hungry kids and being eight months pregnant. When we arrived we were informed by the hostess that there would be a 20 minute wait(not that bad). Then we were told another 30 minute wait. We waited for 50 plus minutes! There were empty tables outside and a six top by the kitchen door that we inquired into. The hostess stated that the kitchen is backed up and does not want to seat the open tables. We watched over 20 customers with smaller parties or who were able to sit at the bar be seated before us. Having worked as a waitress at restaurants in Scituate and Cohasset and my husband who has managed a bar in Boston we were quite upset. We understand how a kitchen can get backed up during a rush but at that point we just wanted a seat and some water. Despite the food you need to think about your customer’s experience. I will not go back even though I want to support the owners being a townie. We decided to leave and went next door to CP’s Wood Fired Pizza. They took care of us right away.

RIVERSHED — ordered tacos and were delivered freezing cold. Sent them back to be microwaved and came back just as cold. Large number of people were sending their food back. Additionally, way over priced.

I will post both my Burger Bar/Rivershed review here. I love the restaurant and I’ve seen an improvement under the new management. More than 5 times, «Burger Bar» has made mistakes on my family and I’s call in order. We used to always get the wrong fries, burgers, and even the wrong meals overall. Since the change of management and the change to «Rivershed», I’ve seen only improvement. The tacos are ridiculously delicious. Order the chicken taco ASAP! It’s 9 am and thinking of it makes me so hungry. The service is great, too. Also try the cornbread with the honey butter. You can’t go wrong with that. The portions are perfect. I love being able to have pulled pork for lunch the next day after the trip to the«Rivershed» the night before. The only bad thing I have to say is they changed the pickle fry recipe. I think the pickle fries are weak now and they used to be my favorite thing on the menu. I miss JennaCakes, too. There should be some brownie or cupcake option like there used to be. Overall, thank you for the change! My favorite place to eat! Just went yesterday and can’t wait to go again.

Finally tried JW’s(now called Rivershed) after driving by many time and wanting to stop in. My husband and I stopped in before a movie and were on a tight schedule. When we arrived the place was packed! We told our waitress, Janet, about the movie and she promised she’d have us out in 45 minutes! She busted her butt to make it happen! The burgers and fries were great. The menu had tons of yummy sounding options. Great craft cocktail menu(although we didn’t indulge this time around). The place has a cool vibe. We’ll definitely be back!

JW’s has been a favorite of mine since they opened. I recently brought my friends to have the best burger around only to be disappointed. Although they enjoyed it very much, my burger was nothing like the burgers I had always loved. JW’s is under new ownership, so maybe it’s just a transition thing. I also saw a lot of new faces, but found that some of my favorite servers are no longer there. JWs has always been a phenomenal local place to have a drink, good food & more than likely see some friends. That feel has changed. I’m hoping the new owners won’t try to fix what isn’t broken.

Stopped by JW’s Burgers(it’s not Backyard Burger Bar anymore) for lunch while enjoying a few days in Scituate on vacation. We enjoyed the décor and the beer selection. However, both of our burgers took FOREVER although the restaurant was nearly empty. And despite the wait — both of our burgers were not prepared correctly — my husband’s was missing the jalapeño and included the mayo which he asked to not have and mine did not include the avocado, even though it was a CALIAVOCADOBURGER. Kind of funny. Also, husband’s white bun was dry — my wheat bun was good. As mentioned in a previous review — our burgers were $ 13.95 each — the burgers tasted good enough but not worth the $ 13.95 price tag when there are better and cheaper options in the Scituate area. Felt like JW’s was about 70% of the way there — but the cost and errors warrant a low review.

I always enjoy JW’s. The burger’s here are killer and always fresh. Cool ambiance, kid friendly and great beers on draft. If you are«indulging» try the Port & Stilton burger or the Caveman… the Caveman features boneless baby back ribs and a fried egg! Also, if your not in the mood for a burger go with the pulled pork… they do pulled pork like real southern bbq, you add your own BBQ sauce. JW’s is a must try if your on the south shore.

Hmmm, I wrote a review for this place a few weeks back, and it seems to have disappeared. Wonder what’s up with that? My first experience was so good, I went back again, just to see if things were consistent, and yes, indeed — it was as good the second time as it was the first. Well prepared burger of good quality meat, excellent buns, good sides, and well mixed drinks.

We went there the other day for dinner. Excellent service, salads were great. Fries were just right. They need to put the burgers on a sturdy brioche bun. The buns they use now have the texture of something you’d buy at Stop & Shop and completely fall apart half through the burger rendering it to a juicy mess.

This place looked so awesome when we first walked in. Then we were sat at a table in a back corner and it went down hill from there. There really wasn’t anything on the menu besides burgers… shocking, I know, but the menu is huge. It’s just variations of the same thing though. My sister went for a burger and I ended up going for the veggie burger, thinking maybe this would be one of those places that has an awesome veggie burger since they specialize in burgers. The veggie burger was just terrible. The frozen ones you get at the grocery store are better. It had zero flavor… to being gross. My sister’s burger was just… plane. It tasted like ground beef with nothing added to it in between two buns. I make a better burger at home by adding a little onion to regular ground beef. Ultimately this place sort of felt like a rip off and was disappointing.

I am always interested in trying a new local restaurant so I was excited to give JWs Burger Bar a try. I ordered takeout for my parents and my kiddos the other night and we were relatively pleased with the overall quality of the food, but certainly not wowed. My friend recommended that we split the burgers — do it! At $ 12 per burger, this place can get pricey fast. I ordered 2 burgers, peel and eat shrimp, a chopped salad(huge!), fried pickles and a bucket of fries with truffle ketchup(yum!) — our total came to about $ 53 and it really was plenty of food to feed 3 adults and 3 kids. I asked about gluten-free options and the girl on the phone said that the burgers are all gluten-free and I can have anything put on two large pieces of iceberg lettuce instead of being served on a bun. Score! Unfortunately, I ordered the port and stilton burger and I was not thrilled with the actual burger itself. It needed salt! Season your burgers, burger bar cooks. Do not fear the salt… I am coming to this restaurant for a BURGER so the burgers need to be excellent so I am willing to come back and spend $ 12 for another one. I also asked for my burger to be served with sweet potato fries. Sadly, they were served with plain fries. Augh. Good sweet potato fries might have helped me overcome my ho-hum attitude toward the burger. Alas… This is close to my house and really easy to pick up some takeout to bring back home or eat at the beach so I will probably go back … however, it was not so outstanding that I can’t wait to try it again. The burgers were such a bummer. The gluten-free options are a plus, but these burgers need to get better!

Overpriced. There are way better burger places in the area where you get a lot more for your money. Try KKaties in downtown Plymouth(and now Marshfield!). Kinda small. I was impressed that they had good beer on tap(which is a rarity in Scituate, home of crappy macro lagers in every bar downtown) but they have since added bud light on tap. Fail. Will not return.

We’ve been twice as a family of five. Food is okay, not great. Way too much money for what you get. Sadly the service was awful, felt like we were putting out the staff. Both times we were done with our meal before anybody return to check on us. I don’t think I’ll be back, which is too bad since it’s so close.

Great Burgers and Great Beers! This place is nothing fancy but good food, good prices, and a fun atmosphere. I recommend the sweet potato fries as an appetizer, and the burger with blue cheese and caramelized onions. While your at it, try and ice cold Crispin Cider Beer and call it a day. Delicious. Great service too!

Stopped by out of curiosity last week for a drink. It’s located behind a dance studio, which is kind of weird, but… The area is bright, fresh, and clean, which are all positives. The owner(?) behind the bar helped us out with our beers, and seemed nice and chatty. Looking towards the bar you kind of get the«Backyard Burger» feel; kind of hard to describe, but almost a little Disney. BUT, when you turn around and look towards the dining area, that’s when it gets a little confusing. There is a nautical theme on the wall, including a boat and a jumping fish. To fuse the two half’s together(??) they have lobster buoys hanging from the beams(above the bar), along with a saddle… Overall I liked the feel of the place — friendly with funny beer signs and retro concert ads on the wall(again in the bar), and I want it to survive, but(in my opinion) the triple B still needs to do something to stand out in an area with plenty of burger joints.(Others in the are overlook Scituate harbor the harbor but their burgers are sub-par, the place in Norwell has decent burgers and a deck, etc…). Any chance they can put a swing set outside(so the kids can play) and build a patio(so the adults can drink and watch them play??)?? SOMETHING to stand out? Will I go back to try the food? Hopefully. As for the other Unilocalers — I’d rather pay for good booze than cheap booze, and I like the sign. It intrigued me enough to want to check it out…

The burgers are good, including the non beef options, and the dipping sauces for the fries are really really good. The service – aloof bordering on rude – makes this a 2 star and not a 3 star place.

All in all, a nice casual family oriented restaurant. I went with my two kids(13&14) on a Saturday afternoon. There was a 20 minute wait as the place was jam packed. The burgers were excellent and came with a heaping pile of fries and some cole slaw. Service was very friendly … tho a tad slow. This would have been a 4 star review if not for the $ 70 tab(w/tip) for 3. Admittedly, the last second take home order of 4 cupcakes padded the bill by $ 10. Just seems like you should be able to get a burger & fries for less than $ 13-$ 14 PS — the cupcakes are Awesome!

We went here on Friday night, it was a steady crowd coming and going. The Bar has about 18 stools, and the restaurant has about 12 tables from what we could see from the bar. There are about 3 large flat screens to watch a game and the atmosphere is casual. The beer selection was nice, the menu has mainly burgers, pizza, salads with some apps. We started with 1 pound buffalo chicken wings, they were very good, the sauce was very flavorful and the wings were a perfectly crispy. Then we split the California Burger, this was a great tasting Angus Burger with a nice portion of avocado, lettuce and tomato. It came with some very fresh crispy seasoned french fries. The pickle and side of Cole slaw was a refreshing side to the burger. For the wings, 3 beers, and burger meal, it came to about $ 42. We both agreed that we will be back when we are in the mood for this type of food.
