I can understand the mixed reviews here. Come at the wrong time, or if they are short staffed and it can get ugly. I admit that my wife and I make it a point to come here off hours, and not on Friday or Saturday. Many can’t do this or don’t want to… understandable. That being said, they make some damn decent bar food. Great burger and good barbecue… by NE standards, which is basically non existent. Good corn bread, like the rice and beans. Fish tacos with flavor in NE!!! Shocking but true. They have have some decent beers, and yes, they make you pay for the better ones. We love it. One of our favorite places to hang, but it can be a chore at times.

We went here on Saturday around 5:30pm, service was pretty bad, bartenders are very unfriendly and slow. We only had a couple of drinks and left without ordering dinner because of what we were seeing around us. We can hear the couple next to us commenting on how the bartenders were taking forever to take their food order. Floor looked busy but I didn’t see enough help around. Beer and liquor prices are high for the location, it looks like they need some serious management help in here.

Went in for a beer after work. The service was terrible, took 4 minutes to get bartender’s attention and there was barely another soul in the joint. I ordered Lil Heaven by Two Roads, a session IPA. Price was 8.50! Are you kidding me? I can get a 12 pack down the street for 15 $, is this real life? I would be pissed to pay that price in downtown Boston, let alone here. Where do you get off thinking you can charge that much? Absurd. Have eaten here and the food is okay enough, but will not be back.

First visit here on 5÷14÷16. Grabbed lunch with my wife and kids. Service was attentive but slow. We had dry rub wings and they were delicious. We also had shrimp tacos, very good, Mac and Cheese, very tasty, and my son enjoyed his bacon cheeseburger. The atmosphere is cool and the food was really good. Even with the slower than desired delivery of our meal, we all really liked this restaurant. We will be back!

The RiverShed is not unlike a standard western motif restaurant but their presentation blows the average away. They have a list of many beers and specialty drinks which is great. Once you examine the menu, however, it is hard to pick which delicasy to choose. EVERY dish is well made and most are nothing that you could find anywhere else. Scituate is a special town and this menu is the best for country fare.

Overall 2.5 stars. We bought a Living Social to try place out for lunch. We had high hopes for our visit. We now know why they’re on Living Social. I ordered a draft beer besides the waters with our meals. They do have a decent selection but paying $ 6.50 for a pint is CRAZY. I can visit other restaurants for 22oz. draft for the same price. What I had: Gumbo — 3⁄5 — $ 6.95 (It was a decent portion but lacked any flavor. Also, real Gumbo doesn’t contain red beans). Caesars Salad — 3⁄5 — $ 9.95(with $ 6.95 for grilled chicken) = $ 16.90 (Sorry but paying $ 16.90 for Caesars salad ABSURD, even for lunch). What my friend had: Pickle Fries(Dill) — 3.5÷5 — $ 4.95 Tasty and okay. Sauce was mustardy and salty.(Who needs that much salt). Spinach salad — 2.5÷5 — $ 8.95(with $ 5.95 beef brisket) = $ 13.90 (The salad was really leafy greens and romaine lettuce mixed. Spinach was not available. Vinaigrette dressing was also salty and tart). Service was okay but SLOW. Bartender was the only server waiting on 6 tables and bar patrons. Sorry but even after using a Living Social it was still a HIGHLY priced lunch. Parking is also another problem. It’s very limited due to the dance studio, pizza shop and ice cream stand in the same location. Phantom Gourmet, you dropped the ball on this one location.

My little cousins live in Scituate and agreed on this restaurant for dinner. I had read mixed reviews so I was hoping for the best. Tight parking lot. Walk in and thought it was a pretty cool place. We were seated right away, they looked pretty busy. We put in our orders immediately. Finally after 40 minutes our food came. It’s difficult keeping kids waiting and these two just kept asking where their food was(I was wondering the same). I know they’re busy but seriously, 40 minutes?! I got the Memphis burger(switched out pork for chicken), the chicken was dry. I ordered my burger medium but it came well done, I can understand a little variance but that was too far. The BBQ sauce had a weird flavor and was way too sweet. The fries were absolutely disgusting — soggy and cold. Cole slaw I always thought could be delicious so long as it was crispy… well this place proved me wrong… it was very crispy but again a weird flavor and too sweet. Neither of my cousins liked their meals. One said his chicken tenders were flavorless. The other got a BBQ platter and it just didn’t look appetizing. She did love the cornbread though. Despite this, I had been craving chocolate so we got dessert: fried oreos and the chocolate chip cookie. I love fried oreos, again something I did not know you could make flavorless, but they managed to do it. The chocolate chip cookie was melty but very chewy, not in a good way. Overall I would not return here nor recommend it.

Pretty decent tap beer selection and the burgers are very good. My one gripe is that when I asked for an aioli on the side for my fries, they charged me an extra 50 cents. I am not sure about the ladies room but the décor in the men’s room is very amusing(but might cause people to dawdle in there — it is single serve)

Tough review. We watched a fantastic review of the Phantom Gourmet so we took the ride to Scituate. The location is cramped on parking but is signed well. Upon entering we loved the atmosphere. This alone was worth a star. Live guitar, very friendly waitstaff. I decided to eat a standard two meat plate of brisket and pulled pork. The cornbread was grilled and served with honey butter. The portion size of cornbread was to large, had it been smaller the grilling would had done wonders. The dirty rice was good. It had beans and sausage which added a real nice flavor. The BBQ was a cross of northern and southern style. I think they were trying for a bark but it didn’t materialize. Although juicy it lacked flavor, but was still good. There was no vinegar in the pork so it wasn’t Carolina style, still confused. I would eat here again because the food was good, and atmosphere was awesome but, it’s a 3 star

Rivershed goes out of their way to please, my wife and I like to sit at the bar, the bartender offered tastes of wine, white and red, this was without asking. Food is very good.

Went in hungry after hearing good things about this place. I sat at the bar and was greeted quickly. Placed my order right away. Got my drink. All’s good. Finished my drink after a few minutes and was flat out ignored by the bartender who was more interested in high diving his beer drinking buddies sitting at the bar. Three other parties came in after me, placed their orders and noticed that their food came out in good time. I’m still waiting for a refill on my drink but the bartender never made eye contact. After waiting twenty five minutes for my food and a refill on my drink I got up and walked out. Piss poor service. Their food may be good but I never got a chance to find out. After that display of service or lack thereof, I’ll never go back or recommend this place. Plenty of other really good burger options in the area.

You pack your kids into the car and drive to Scituate because of that ONE time you had that delicious burger at RIvershed. Seriously. It was so amazing, you couldn’t help but post about its insane deliciousness all over Facebook. It was so good, you dragged your husband up there so he too could experience THAT burger. But that second visit kind of sucked because they were pretty busy. The server was slow and disinterested and the food was late and cold. Then, just because of that first time, back when that burger was so amazing and the service didn’t suck, you pack the fam into the car on a Saturday evening, drive to Scituate and cross your fingers that this time things will be better. You’re all seated in the back and wait 20 minutes for drinks. That’s 20 minutes too long. 20 minutes to get a good long look at the dirty walls and realize that maybe the shine has worn off this place a little. Slapping some old album covers on the wall doesn’t really count as «atmosphere» to me. More importantly, dried drips and splatters on the wall is slightly off-putting. It made me wonder what condition the kitchen is in. 25 minutes later, the drinks still haven’t arrived, so you and the hubs round the kids up and declare that this isn’t worth the wait. Or another chance. By the way, the server didn’t give a crap that we were leaving. But then, she probably didn’t recognize us after the lengthy wait for a couple of lemonades. Skip it. It’s easy enough to throw some boursin and hot peppers on a burger at home.

Been to the Rivershed twice now and was super happy with the food as well as the service. The port caramelized onion & blue stilton burger and pulled pork tacos were standouts. Fantastic. The only suggestion I’d make is to provide lime wedges with the fish tacos for a little extra brightness. We’ll be back, can’t wait to try the brunch!

We perhaps made the mistake of not ordering burgers, but what we ordered was not good, including the service. The food was bland, overcooked and nothing tasted good. There were 4 of us and all agreed the food was MEH.

I will post both my Burger Bar/Rivershed review here. I love the restaurant and I’ve seen an improvement under the new management. More than 5 times, «Burger Bar» has made mistakes on my family and I’s call in order. We used to always get the wrong fries, burgers, and even the wrong meals overall. Since the change of management and the change to «Rivershed», I’ve seen only improvement. The tacos are ridiculously delicious. Order the chicken taco ASAP! It’s 9 am and thinking of it makes me so hungry. The service is great, too. Also try the cornbread with the honey butter. You can’t go wrong with that. The portions are perfect. I love being able to have pulled pork for lunch the next day after the trip to the«Rivershed» the night before. The only bad thing I have to say is they changed the pickle fry recipe. I think the pickle fries are weak now and they used to be my favorite thing on the menu. I miss JennaCakes, too. There should be some brownie or cupcake option like there used to be. Overall, thank you for the change! My favorite place to eat! Just went yesterday and can’t wait to go again.

Went there last night as the snowstorm was headed our way. Great bar tender and a great atmosphere. The food, however, was really bad. Our chicken wings arrived crispy on the outside, raw on the inside. The burger my wife ordered was great… But the fries were just like the wings. Crispy in the outside and frozen on the inside. I know that this place is better than what they showed last night. To the owner… Get rid of whoever was in the kitchen last night!

My second time here and I am going to be a regular. Definitely among the best burgers I have had. The fries and sweet potato fries and equally outstanding. I had the Caveman burger and am still licking my fingers was so delicious. My girlfriend had the pulled pork panini. Very sweet! Sit and the bar, watch the game, and chat with the friendly bartender(Mark). Great beer selection, great vibe, great food!
