as good as it gets!!! we orignally planned to go to the RIVA restaurant for brunch but we did not realize that Riva only offers brunch on every sunday. That day was saturday. of course, we were so disappointed. We had to look it up on Unilocal and said that we should try Phin’s Restaurant. We took our 3 young children(all under 3 years old) to the restaurant — the waitress was so patient and accomodating with our kids. We ordered pancakes/eggs/french toast and coffee. The food was so delicious even kids LOVEDIT! Their places were EMPTY — RARE!!!

This is a local restaurant with good prices, decent food, and of good value. The Wednesday-Friday specials are truly of good value. Call ahead to check out any specials. Open for breakfast and lunch seasonally, weekend dinners year round, but again, call first.

Liked this place at first, but the service got worse over time. The food is quite good for breakfast, but I won’t be back due to the the atmosphere(both service and décor).

The ambiance of this place is so severely hurting that one might tend to skip this place. We always seem to forget about it. But last weekend we were looking for a breakfast place to go with the kids and so we tried this place again and we had a fabulous breakfast. The food was really good and they were accomodating to the kids. This is not one of those places that has such a spectacular breakfast that you go just for breakfast… but rather when you’re looking for a place to have breakfast they have good food.

There’s a lot about Phin’s that is close to greatness. As in, not great yet, but could be with a little more effort. The food is good. There’s no question there. My girlfriend and I read the menu recently while window shopping, didn’t realize that they closed between lunch and dinner, and missed out on a mid-afternoon meal. So we drove around for awhile(not really a hardship in that part of the state!) and came back for dinner. Good thing too. She was in the mood for seafood since we’d been near the ocean so much and the Pan Fried Whole Bellied Clams were a good starter. They came with a chipotle aioli that was a nice kick of flavor, and were juicy and crunchy. We got two entrees that we intended to trade half-way through, and did… only to discover we liked our original dish better and switched back. Hers was the«Open Faced» seafood ravioli. A nice selection of seafood laid out over sheets of pasta and a little bit of what seemed like a scampi broth. It was a little discombobulated, stuck somewhere between Bouillabaise and Italian, but was still light and delicious. Mine was the Chicken Gruyère, basically a chicken marsala served over mashed potatos, but the best I’ve ever had. Elevated by the fact that every couple of mouthfuls you end up with a gob of lovely, gooey gruyère. It was Italian comfort food, heavy and filling, and I couldn’t get enough of it. But there are things needing improvement. The décor is bland, at best, like the kind of restaurant you’ve seen a thousand times opened by a chef who doesn’t want to be bothered getting a good designer in. Oh, it was cozy, certainly not off putting, but if this was still the 80s there would have been wicker chairs and leafy ferns. And the service wasn’t great. We were there soon after they’d re-opened for the evening, and our waitress, while not rude, just seemed to want to be doing anything else with her evening. Eh. It happens, I suppose. So this is a restaurant that hasn’t reached great yet. But considering they served me a meal I’m still salivating over two weeks later, I’d say they are very much worth watching. Three and a half stars, rounded up for the food and… well, pretty much for the food.

My wife and I recently moved to Scituate and have been trying out all the town restaurants. We got a coupon in the mail for a buy one entrée get one free deal so decided to try this place out. We have now been back several times, mostly for dinner but have been there for breakfast too. If there is one word to describe this place it would be «solid.» Nothing here is going to blow your socks off, but everything is good. The chowder is good and the fish tastes fresh. One great thing about this place are the nightly specials. One night is two entrees for $ 25, another night is a three course meal and bottle of wine for $ 50. Don’t expect to have the greatest meal of your life but the value you get for a solid meal makes this place worth while.

Great little place located in the heart of downtown scituate. Went there for a quick lunch, and the crab cake po’ boy sandwich was fantastic. My server was a young lady who was cheerful and quite competent. Very cozy and friendly place, even if you stop in alone it’s comfortable. I felt right at home even though I’m not a townie, and was just passing through. Made friends with a couple of elderly lady diners by recommending the sandwich to them. The waitress said it’s quite popular at breakfast, so I will try to return soon for a morning meal. The bar looked comfy, too if you want to have a couple and shootbthe breeze with folks. Glad I found this place.

Phin’s is literally 1000 ft from my home. My wife and I went for breakfast this Memorial Day weekend on a whim after an early morning walk. The breakfast was superb, I had fishcakes and there are none any better, superb is the word. Haddock fishcakes, does it get any better? We had eaten at Phin’s in the past for the Thursday eve specials and were reminded again of the culinary delights of this gem of a restaurant. Indulge yourself !

This place is wonderful, they have really delicious food and some great specials. On Thursday nights they have a 3 course meal and a bottle of wine for 2 people for $ 50 total! I’ve had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and everything I’ve had has been amazing, from appetizers to main courses and even the desserts and martinis. Love it! I’ve heard they also have specials on holidays like NYE and Valentine’s Day. The waistaff can occasionally be stuffy, depending on who you get, but they have obviously been there awhile because they do know the menu. This is one of my favorite restaurants to go to and I do whenever I get a chance or am in the area.

Phin’s serves Scituate’s best breakfast. Given the town’s lack of good breakfast places, I realize that isn’t saying much, but this place is a gem! Great, friendly service and fabulous food. The omlette was the best I have had in a long time. It was also wicked filling! We waddled around with bloated bellies for the rest of the day. You can also substitute fresh fruit for home fries, which was nice. A tad pricey, but not out of line for the other joints in town, which aren’t half as good. We went on a Summer Saturday morning, and the place was surprisingly uncrowded. That was good, as the space is a bit small, and a crowd would be uncomfortable here. Scanned the lunch & dinner menu, and wasn’t impressed with the offerings, but this is our new go-to spot for breakfast! Be sure to check out the rest room, it’s funky(looking, not smelling)!

I really love Phin’s. Their breakfast is awesome, but lunch and dinner are where they shine. The chef is very creative, the food delicious(love the chicken panini) and when we went they had a $ 25 deal with two entrees and a bottle of wine for dinner. The ambiance could be a little better but they have nice candles and the window and bar are nice. Plus you can stroll along the harbor after you eat.

Ordered lunch here the other day. Points for very friendly and helpful phone service, but lunch was just edible, not great. We had a fish sandwich and a country chicken salad, both without much flavor. We will try breakfast since that’s what they are here for! Will update if it is better.
