Owner very very rude would not recommend. Food way to expensive and small menu. Would never give them a dime again

Cute little local place. Good breakfast and unassuming, friendly service. Not sure what else you need on the beach!

This place is walking distance from the beach, but don’t go if you are in a hurry. The service is very slow. The food is fine.

This place in theory should be really good it’s a cute little café/general store/ice cream shop but it just falls short and the only thing that’s keeping sands end alive is its prime humarock beach location. The food is decent nothing special, the ice cream is just average but I would suggest getting a cup instead of a cone because the cones are straight up cardboard. My main issue with sands end is the manager/owner this woman is so beyond rude and the way she treats her employees is disrespectful and unprofessional. On multiple occasions I have witnessed her raising her voice and talking down to the employees right in front of me one time the girl who was ringing me in at the ice cream counter was asking her a simple question about my order and the way she answered the girls question was very demeaning and probably embarrassing for her. I think all of the other employees are great and always have smiles on their faces but I frankly just feel bad that they have to deal with a boss like that. One time I asked her to use the bathroom after I bought a few things from the general store and she told me I wasn’t allowed like how ridiculous is that. I honestly will not be coming back here just because this lady makes me feel uncomfortable and I think changes need to be made with her attitude.

Foods pretty good, haven’t been here in a year though. it’s in a great area right on humarock beach. Unfortunately my waitress was extremely rude and treated my party and I like animals for no reason. She acted like we were a nuisance and bothersome to her for no reason. I probably should have walked out after I ordered my drink and she was giving me crap. Not bad food if you don’t mind rude staff and being treated like an object and not a customer.

Food is great but it’s almost not worth going there with the bad service. Not going back after today. Wasn’t greeted in a friendly manner nor waited on properly. Very aggravating when people from restaraunts ignore customers.

Great place. Nice find. Hopefully it doesn’t get discovered. Food and service was great. It should be since we’re the only ones here this early in the morning.

Chef Tom is laughably mean, known to openly sneer at customers, I’ve seen locals stick their tongue out at him behind his grumpy back. General store is a back shelf w cans of Dinty Moore Stew, Jif, grape«jelly» and ritz crackers. Some random gift store items are littered around the space. Ice cream stand is packed w interesting flavors, lines of un-supervised and sometimes destructive kids at its window and … One server. Good luck w that. This is more cheap diner than upscale café. Ironically located across the street from the ocean and from Nautical Mile, a cavernous fish wholesaler, the café offers almost no seafood and fries it all. Usual diner staples for breakfast, don’t expect any green smoothies here. Vapid refrigerated tomatoes, iceberg lettuce and mushy thick crust pizza round out the junk processed food cluelessness of an absurdly nutritionally out of touch menu. I gave it one star for location and friendly waitresses and one star for the generous lobster plate, hold the iceberg.

The Sands End Café is one of those places that harken back to another time, and i am grateful that it exists. not only do i like being there in the winter when the windows are steamy at breakfast time and there are few patrons, but i like it in the summer season, too, when throngs of ice cream eaters wait at the window for their turn. i do not go to sands end for gourmet meals, but if i want something made a particular way and it’s not crazy busy, they’ll make an effort. it’s a small business that helps to make Humarock the cool place it is. my favorite meal there is breakfast and i have been known to eat an omlette for dinner. pizza is good too.

Off the beaten path and charming diner style restaurant with an attached store. Our family of 4 had pancakes, omelettes, and a breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were very good, and the bfast sandwich @ under $ 5 was a great value. The omelette was Huge and filled with fresh lightly grilled veggies. Coffee was not very good and service could have been more attentive. Plenty of parking during the fall but I’d guess its packed during the summer I’d give sands end a 3.5−4 star rating.

quaint place for breakfast lunch or dinner. omelets are great. corned beef hash is the real thing. friendly staff. locals abound, but you do get the occasional drop in from celebs that live or vacation in the area. has little shop for basic needs and gifts next door

Personally I think taking a trip to Sands End Café is a waste of time and money. This café has average food but terrible service, in my past experiences I have gone in to purchase ice cream and have had the people waiting on me that have been very bitter and rude. Another downside to this café is the bathroom situation, unlike any other café you are only allowed to use the bathroom if you are dining… you cant even use the bathroom if you have purchased something from the store section of sands end, which I think is absolutely ridiculous! In the future I don’t think I will ever take the time to go back to this dump. If it was my choice I would give this café zero stars.

We came in here on a blustery fall Friday night because one of our friends was performing there. It is really easy to find and there is parking along the street opposite of the restaurant. The restaurant itself is very cozy and certainly a come-as-you-are kind of place. The prices are extremely reasonable and the menu offers a little bit of everything regardless of your tastes. Whether you want a sandwich, pizza, or Italian entrees, they have a bit of everything. I settled on a simple tuna salad sandwich and Hubs ordered a pizza. The pizza was huge and way overly cheesy. It was just too much. As a special, they were offering $ 1.99 Sam Adams Summer beers, but when we ordered one, our waitress simply handed us an Octoberfest. It wasn’t what we ordered and when we inquired more about the summer beer, she said they were out and substituted it for an Octoberfest. But then the waitress never took the special off the specials board. At any rate, I enjoyed my sandwich and Hubs and I split an order of fries. I didn’t care for the pizza, but other people rave by it. It just wasn’t my taste. The service was just okay. There was one waitress working the entire floor for the entire night. The restaurant wasn’t packed, but the service wasn’t quick by any means. I don’t know if I will be back during the off-season, but I will consider going back in the nicer weather.

The food here is ok and the location is great. It’s litteraly steps from the beach. The problem is the management. I have been going to sands end all my life since I live in hummarock. I have seen it change hands many times and each time it has gotten a little worse. The newest owner has made it uncomfortable for me and my friends to come in for years. We used to love to hang out there and grab a pizza, but I haven’t been in in a while because the way the owner treats us. The last time I was there I was eating breakfast with my sisters and the owner came to our table when we had finished and said«you have to leave a tip.» First I don’t have to leave a tip if I have terrible service. But what really bothered me about it was I had been in there probably every other week and had always left an appropriate tip. She just thought we looked young and therefore would not leave a tip. If they want to run a successful business, they need to learn not to insult their customers no matter how young they look. The food is not worth the insult. I won’t be back.

Half café half general store/ice cream shop. Breakfasts great, pizzas good enough. I once had a sub roll which was a bit dry… Homely.

Two words: fish sandwich. It’s flaky, fresh and crisp and delicious. It’s my favorite lunchtime – or even brunchtime – meal in Humarock. Plus, the restaurant itself is really cute and homey, with old-time photos of the area, a nostalgic candy selection on the general store side, and tasty, well-portioned ice cream, which is a great follow-up to the fish sandwich. I’ve also ordered take-out pizzas from Sands End – also a good choice.

As a former Humarockian, and part of a long line of current and former Humarock residents, I can tell you that this place is one of the most popular hangouts in the area. It’s one of only a handful of places to eat and out of those, it is by far the most casual. This is the spot to go before or after a day on Humarock beach. The food consists of pizza, burgers, and ice cream. It’s your typical quick bite to eat summer fare. I would like to note though that it’s open year round! You can get the pizza take-out(which my family has done– it’s good!). There’s also a mini-mart that is popular with the kids. Cheap, decent food in a fun spot. Take a trip to Humarock and check it out!
