Early 2015 we stopped by here on our way back from Cape Cod during a BLIZZARD! Being from Socal, I don’t know what winter really is… I didn’t think that winter in the east coast was any different from their past. Boy was I wrong. Thank goodness, God made sure I was safe and sound. :) I also learned that BMW’s are really the ULTIMATEDRIVINGMACHINE. I don’t think we would have it made it out without it. Long story short, we got hungry on our way back and stopped by Pembroke. We had some oysters, Ommegang beer on tap, pasta and steak. All was really good and I was pleasantly surprised and lucky to find such a pretty little restaurant with great food in such a small town. One note is that I got that slight uncomfortable feeling when I was there. I did notice that we were the only Asians and I don’t want to say it was that… but perhaps we are a rarity in this town. Or I’m just so dang BEAUTIFUL! haha Either way, I normally don’t get uncomfortable and being from LA I never feel that way… it’s very very rare… rare…

First visit. Food was extremely tasty. A hidden gem in Pembroke. A little pricey but it’s worth the expense. Service was attentive…

All the food was perfectly cooked; the hanger steak was rare and tender as possible. Frites — delicious. The plates were pretty. The menu does change but everyone agreed the swordfish and scallops were excellent. However, everything was underseasoned! Perhaps this is a health concern, but a good chef knows that salt is a flavor enhancer — and it’s hard to pepper your food when there’s none on the table. A few onions, peppers, chiles would be a good investment! And less bother with putting lobster, etc, in all the starches would help too. Those things are too delicate in taste — they don’t really add anything to arancini, for example, unless you use mass quantities. We had two good desserts — bananas foster bread pudding with ice cream which was enormous! and a nice crème brûlée. The tea was excellent — something that hardly ever happens in the nicest places, even. A beautiful large ceramic pot, saucer and cup. Service was lovely. If it were not for the underseasoning(and some might not object to that) it would be a 5. BTW the outside is getting a spruce — up, and the inside is lovely — gray and white with a few nautical touches — tasteful but not overdone.

Delicious oysters! The tacos were delicious! I got a salad with scallops on top and I don’t think I’ve had a better seared scallop!

Meet some friends for dinner last night. We tried the oysters, clams, scallops and bacon, and the calamari for appetizers. I had the baked cod with the lobster rague on the side. Personally I don’t like sauces and herbs that distract from the true taste of the fish. My cod was delicious and a large portion and cooked just right. I was able to portion the lobster rague as I wanted and found it was quite flavorful. One of the ways I judge a restaurant is how empty the plates are when they go back. All I can say is from appetizers to deserts, the chocolate chip cookies were a favorite, the plates and glasses were empty. The service good.

Waitstaff was attentive and friendly, oysters were delicious and will definitely order the scallop dinner again! The owners are chefs and their attention to detail shined. Very impressed with their commitment to local offerings. A bit pricy but a nice date night treat.

I used to love it here but just had an awful dining experience. The service was beyond abysmal. Our table for 2 waited at least 20 minutes for two drinks. We were neglected by staff throughout the meal and were never offered an apology or acknowledgement of the horrible service. Absolutely horrible. Tables all around us were left empty with old food on them for at least 20 minutes. Our own table was littered with empty drink glasses & empty appetizer plates for our entire meal. Our waitress– the rare times we saw her– was rude. Enormously disappointed. We won’t be back. And, to boot, the bill was obscenely high for what we got.

This place? Love it. My husband and i went early last night on Father’s Day for our first time. I thought at first sight it looked too nice for how we were dressed, but the hostess was so friendly and sweet– informed us we were totally fine so that was a relief! It’s kid friendly which I can really appreciate– at least early when they open. Dollar oyster specials? Ummm, YES please! Out entrees were delish and I wish we had left room for their amazing dessert menu! Next time– which will be very soon. Such a great find!

We’ve enjoyed several great dinners at Oysters already, but on this night I chose to splurge on a fairly expensive($ 32) tenderloin and lobster cake entrée, while my wife opted for a crispy goat cheese and beet salad. Both dinners were executed extremely well. My tenderloin was almost tender enough to cut with a fork, and exquisitely tasty.(A purist might call it salty, but the effect was delicious.) The lobster cake had ample chunks of easy lobster, and the grilled asparagus was perfectly prepared. My wife’s meal was equally well prepared. Our server, Lisa, was excellent: she was timely without being intrusive, clearly understood the menu, and clearly open to questions or special requests. Our only complaint is that the party at the adjacent table was exceedingly loud. We didn’t complain, because it wasn’t clear what the management could have done about it in any case. We’re disappointed that it diminished(but did not ruin) our enjoyment of this excellent meal, but we can’t blame the establishment for the behavior of occasional patrons. We’ll be back at sooner rather than later.

Second time came here with wife. Ordered 2 dozens of oysters, 4 different types of tacos(their spring menu) and Bolognese. With a bottle of Pinot Grigio, completely satisfied. Wife went for coffee&doghnuts and crime brûlée as desert. What a night!

I think 5 star ratings are extremely rare, but the meal we had offered little room for improvement. We started with a dozen oysters, truly sublime. The entrees were a New York strips with mushrooms, fingerling potatoes, and cipollini onions. Dot had perfectly pan seared scallops with lobster ragu over wonderful spring pea risotto. We had banana foster bread pudding for dessert which perfect. Our server Lisa was key to making our experience delightful. We will be going back and recommending to anyone we know. Best in a while…

The oysters are great. The menu is pricey, portions small. though I will say there are some interesting menu items. The service is slow and unfriendly, and the atmosphere– snobby, crowded and loud.

I ate there recently with my husband and had a great meal. We started with excellent martini’s, the R&R(rasberry and rosemary) and my husband had a dirty, they were great! We had 6 oysters that were awesome, the artichoke/shrimp appetizer which was amazing! Grilled shrimp over fried artichokes, sooo good. My husband had the steak frites with the most amazing fries and the steak was cooked perfectly. My meal was a little disappointing, I had the paella and the seafood was overcooked and was actually pretty flavorless, almost like they broiled it plain and put it right on top of the rice. Despite that, we’ll definitely be back and just won’t have the paella again.

Hidden gem is absolutely spot on. The restaurant is a bit on the small side, but definitely feels intimate as opposed to cramped. In spite of its small size, it has a good sized lobby area, and the bar area(separated from the main dining area by half-walls which allow separation but still give an open feel) is also well-spaced, so if you have to wait for a table(we didn’t, having gone in early on a Saturday evening), you’re not going to be jammed in elbow to elbow with other folks waiting for a table. The décor is warm and inviting, very comfortable and understated. The tables are not jammed in to maximize seating, but instead nicely laid out to make sure each table has plenty of room. The service was nothing short of exceptional. Lisa(?) was one of the best servers we’ve ever had, and I’m bashing myself over the head right now for not being 100% positive in recalling her name. She had a trainee with her, and it was obvious why they had a trainee working under her. She was amazingly friendly and outgoing, without being overbearing, knew the menu inside and out, and had great suggestions when we asked(and didn’t just make recommendations, but gave reasons *why* she was making that recommendation). She also hit the sweet spot between being attentive without being intrusive as well as any server I’ve ever dealt with. The manager also took the time to stop by and check in briefly with the table, and came over promptly at the conclusion of our meal when I asked to speak with him again(I wanted to make sure he knew what an exceptional job Lisa was doing). All that being said, the star of the night was the food. They start you off with some wonderful fresh, soft bread and a dipping sauce made of infused olive oil and some sort of pureed beans(garbanzo?) that is hummus-like. Absolutely delicious. We also had the mango calamari appetizer, and it was spectacular. I almost always order the calamari if it’s on the menu, and love it Rhode Island style, but the mango slices and hint of sweetness in the sauce were an excellent variation, and the calamari was cooked perfectly, nice and light, tender, and incredibly fresh. My choice for entrée was the bolognese, and it was superb. A good sized portion, especially for the price, with beautiful wide ribbons of fresh made pasta, and a creamy, meaty bolognese sauce that was perfect in its balance of seasonings. My wife had the seafood paella, which was huge, loaded with every kind of shellfish you could imagine(not to mention some of the smokiest, tastiest chorizo I’ve ever tried), and was absolutely gorgeously presented. We’re not often ones to take pictures of our meals, but this was so beautiful that she couldn’t resist. The freshness and flavor of the seafood matched the beauty of the presentation. My sister-in-law had the swordfish, and it was one of the biggest pieces of swordfish I’ve ever seen served in a restaurant, 16 ounces and probably an inch thick. It had a beautiful sear on it, and came with brussels sprouts that were caramelized and crispy. As with all the other food, it was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. We were all so full that we had to bypass dessert, but that resolve almost crumbled as another table nearby ordered the fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. You know that smell you get when you walk into the house and someone has been baking up a storm, and the cookies are just about ready to come out of the oven? Judging by the amazing scent of these cookies, I’d be willing to bet the house that they’re as awesome as the rest of the food was. Bottom line: great ambiance, awesome service, amazing food, large portions, all at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back.

My girlfriend and I found this hidden gem while cruising down Route 139 in Pembroke last Saturday night looking for a decent dinner without really having to wait. Tucked in between a paint shop and a pizzeria, Oysters does not look like much from the outside, But since oysters are a favorite of ours and we were kind of in the mood we had to stop and check it out. My next instinct was to immediately check the reviews on Unilocal,of course. Everyone seems to be raving about this place so I called from the parking lot to get an idea of the weight, expecting it to be at least 45 minutes given its size and the hour of our arrival(7:30pm on a Saturday). I didn’t get a great feeling when the phone rang and rang and no one answered. after a moment I decided to just walk in and check it out. Those there was nobody manning the host table there was only one couple waiting to be seated. After only a brief moment the host came out from the dining room where he had been assisting the servers to greet me and inform me that there would only be about a 10 minute wait. Five minutes later, my girlfriend and I were seated. I realize now that this review is growing long and I have not yet even mentioned the food for the service, but they are by far the best part of the experience. For starters, their beers on tap are all craft beers with a good selection of Belgians and IPAs if you are into that kind of thing. Personally, I love both. Their menu is seasonal, and breaks down the dishes into small plates and big plates(Apps, salads and entrées), not to mention over half a dozen varieties of oysters of course. My girlfriend opted for the house Caesar salad, served with white anchovies(which I naturally ate on the side). I opted for«The Burger.» Simply put this easily ranks in the top three burgers I’ve had in my entire life, and that is saying a lot. This epic 10oz mammoth of a burger was covered with a generous slice of Vermont Cheddar and a few savory slices of thick cut bacon and aioli mayo on a buttery, flaky brioche. Paired with Parmesan-crusted hand cut fries, it was a burger to remember. I regret not leaving room for dessert but that just makes up the perfect excuse to return, and with friends! My only other regret is the embarrassment of forgetting our server’s name, as she was delightful and we hope to see her again. If her name comes to me I’ll be sure to edit the review so that others can enjoy her as well.

After discovering the bar special to be $ 1 oysters after 4 pm(for a limited time, I believe an hour and a half) my husband and I headed right over. They opened the doors right on time and Matt, the manager, was terrific. We could not have gotten better service(even after the bar was became completely full). The staff and regular customers were friendly and welcoming. Very nice, interesting people. And the food… FANTASTIC!!! The mango fried Calamari was unbelievable, never mind the oyster trays(just like we are used to and delicious) and they had a shortrib special that was cooked and flavored to perfection. The wine was also great, and they had a decent selection of beer as well. Tracy was an incredible server, always attentive and always kept an eye on our drinks and food. I never once had to ask her for anything, she was on top of things from the beginning. We ended the late afternoon/early evening with fried donuts(homemade) and coconut sorbet, both again, excellent! Had it not been a pre-birthday dinner we would have never had dessert but we lucked out on this dish as well. This place is a gem, a must stop and eat! The pricing was decent and I have to say everything we had was perfectly cooked and seasoned. A home run(and a half) for this post-Midwestern girl. I can’t wait to go back for the duck entrée.
