Christmas Decor

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I contacted the company (which I learned is a franchise) relatively late in the season to have Christmas lights put on my home and the owner Rich (I believe he was the owner, anyway) came to my house for a consultation with a decoration proposal. I called the owner a couple days later and explained what I wanted, and he said he would «definitely» be able to do it the same week. I faxed in the contract. A day later, the owner sent me an email saying he didn’t think it was going to happen this year, meaning they were not going to do the job. I understand that it is a busy season for a Christmas decorating company (obviously) and that weather can play a factor, but the owner never mentioned the possibility that the contract would just be cancelled. If I had been told that he might not be able to do the job, I would have contacted another company. Instead, I was left in the lurch two weeks before Christmas.
I also was disappointed that the company did not have the courtesy to even call me with the news, but rather did it unprofessionally via email. I sent an email back to the company owner expressing my disappointment and asking if he could still do the job if it was scaled down, or to recommend another company. I never received a response from him. I would not recommend this company; not only did they cancel a job they said they could perform, but they also acted very unprofessionally by (1) emailing me that they were not doing the job instead of calling and (2) not responding to my email.
