Sat at the sushi bar for there was no hostess. Two waiters than came over & they were both confused to who was the server & asked if we were here for dinner? Sushi presentation was good but lacking in the variety of sashimi. The«spotted shrimp» just awful!!! Kinda pricy for sushi in downtown Scotia

Best Asian Fusion restaurant in the Capital District. Was the finest Chinese and the next generation has brought Japanese and Thai into the mix. Many restaurants attempt this but few do it so successfully. Excellent Thai curries that are not all brown. Billy is a great bartender try his Mango Mojitos. Fantastic soft shell crab rolls. Adjacent parking and the youngest maitre d’ in the area. A true jewel in Downtown Scotia across from the movie theater. Reservations a must on Friday and Saturday nights.

If you’re going for sushi, Japanese or a drink then yes this may be the place for you. We went after viewing the Thai and vegetarian options on their menu online. The Pad Thai was not Pad Thai. It was simply noodles with soy sauce. Nothing close to Thai. We also got Buddha’s feast. The quality was similar to what you could find at a cheap Chinese Buffet. The décor inside was poorly pulled together. They had some good ideas but they put too many of them in the same space. They literally have clear christmas balls hanging from wood planked ceiling. The acoustics were terrible. All hard surface and the sound just bounced all over. We could hardly hear ourselves over the people next to us. I gave them two stars for service and cleanliness. They were super nice people. The young boy who sat us was very polite and the waiter was great.

So it was my first time here, l had never gone even before the renovation/remodel. Saturday night at like 6:30 and there wasn’t a ton of people, but there was a good amount. I think they fixed the volume issue that a previous Unilocaler had mentioned(the music too loud to hear anyone — was not an issue at all). The first impression was great, everything was really nice. Now as 3 broke college students, we got a little concerned that we’d be broke after this dinner. That was not the case. It wasn’t the cheapest Chinese/Japanese food you can get, but it really wasn’t too bad. We had two sesame chicken orders, and a mango chicken order. I think they were all at or around $ 13 each. I don’t remember seeing anything below $ 10 on the menu. But I LOVED my Mango Chicken and would definitely get it again. It does have a little bit of kick to it, which was not noted on the menu, but whatever. We all loved it and the service was great. Would definitely go back again!

Overall, I really like Jade Bistro. It was great seeing it renovated and recreated into a more upscale dining establishment than the previous Dragon Garden Buffet. The décor is great and the food is, as well. Everything is always fresh and their drinks are good, too. The only thing keeping me from giving this place a full 5 stars is the service. The servers are all very, very nice but when I go(it has been multiple times at this point) the service is very slow. Takeout is okay, I’ve only had once instance of slow service there. I don’t want to be rushed out, by any means — I think they just need to find a good pace, because right now it’s a little too lax.

Went on a Friday night around 630pm thought it was going to be busy and it was but we were the first to wait for a table and then 4 other parties walked in behind. A twelve year old took our name and said 10 minutes. There were empty tables but thought they didn’t have enough wait staff so was ok but then they started seating the people who walked in after us and even people at the bar who asked last second for a seat. That was not nice. Finally after speaking up we got a table that had been empty. What a mess the front of the house was everyone running around with no clue!!! But the back of the house was great. Our waiter was wonderful, very at tentative and helpful with the menus. The food was good and maybe but not sure with the number of sushi places in the area that I will return. We shall see.

Such a fun atmosphere. great specialty drink selections. Cucumber mojito is awesomely smooth. Great variety of food styles from Chinese, Japanese as well as Thai food. Portions are ample especially with sushi rolls. The crab rolls are phenomenal. Once it hits 10pm they set a up a different vibe by playing electronic music for a great late night experience. Definitely worth a visit.

My fiancé «consented» to go to the Jade Bistro — although he’s more of an Italian restaurant kind of guy. He commented that his choice was more daring than mine — he got the Crazy Dragon Roll. Guess who has a new favorite restaurant? It’s the best sushi he’s ever had — really loves it and can’t wait to go back! Of course, I knew this already!

I love this restaurant! My friend introduced me to this place and the sushi is soo fresh! The staff is excellent, people are friendly and most importantly the food is delicious. The best uni around. It’s a great place to grab a quick lunch or to have a romantic dinner! I would definitely recommend trying their special roll like the Atlantic roll. I’m gonna come back whenever I am in the area!

This review is for take out only, but we were in the restaurant for several minutes. I’ve had a long standing relationship with this restaurant, as I grew up in Scotia. It was called Dragon Garden then, and it was run by the current owner’s uncle. It had its good and bad periods. When it became a buffet it was pretty much the worst of its existence. But I remember eating there through most of my adolescence. So, the restaurant is updated. They did a very good job with the renovations. It’s very lovely to look at. The sound is a different matter. The music was so loud that we had a hard time being heard by the waitress that greeted us as we came in. She even said«It’s so loud in here.»(This was a complaint of my mother from the previous time that she had eaten there. They were offered the chance to move tables, and claim it did not help.) The owner then came out, and my mother mentioned it to him, as well, and he said that they’ve been aware of the issue, and that they plan to have some of the speakers moved…(Honestly, I don’t feel it was a speaker placement, but an overall volume reduction that is necessary.) SO: The food. It was good. I wouldn’t say stellar, but solidly GOOD. The veggies were fresh, the flavors good. But, honestly, not that much different than other Asian restaurants in the area. We had 2 orders of Pad Thai, 2 orders of Lo Mein(One veggie one chicken, quart size only.) 5 appetizers and it came up to over $ 70. Wait… What? How much? That… Can’t be right? Each appetizer is close to $ 10. Each entrée is $ 10 or more. It’s amazing how fast this adds up. I’m glad we didn’t eat in and add drinks and tip to that amount. And then have to listen to that music while we did it.

My sister and brother in law had eaten here twice this past week for Schenectady restaurant week. My brother in law is a retired chef. When he suggests a restaurant we like to try it. What a great dinner and night out we had. The place looks great. Hard to imagine someone who’s been in the restaurant businees 38 years would go for such a modern sophisticated look. Meals were great. New taste treats for myself & my wife. Yes it’s crowded and noisy. That’s the way popular places are. This area has had too many empty establishments for too long. Go, enjoy!

I don’t usually write reviews but I have to for Jade Bistro. We went there when they first opened and were impressed. Most places have to work out some kinks, but they were right on from the beginning. We have eaten there 4 times since and each time are surprised how good the food is and leave feeling very satisfied. Not to mention, appetizer, drinks and entrée for less than $ 50 with the tip. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and excellent atmosphere! A great place to go when you are in the Scotia area. I highly recommend the shredded pork with garlic sauce… The pork could be a little bit more tender but has a great taste. Bill, the new owner is new to the Restruant business so please give him some slack. He does a great job and I wish him great success. Some of the staff are straight from China and can be a little hard to communicate with but, I promise, it’s worth the patience and definitely worthy of your business. I have been a customer of the old place«dragon garden» since I was knee high to a grasshopper and will continue to go to the new«jade bistro» as long as they are in business. So, give them a try with confidence, just have some patience as they start their new journey.

Its great to see a great restaurant in the area. Especially across the street from Scotia Cinema! Very modern, great music, and complain about the sushi! That just so happens to be their specialty. Parking is a bit hairy but, eh I believe you can deal with it. Enjoy your meal!

Read an article in the gazette about this place and thought we would give it a try. Haven’t been here since the early 80’s. The décor inside is very nice. They did a great job with the remodel. The food was also very good. We got general so chicken and two different sushi rolls. Everything was delicious and all the wait staff was so friendly. We plan to go back very soon. It felt like an upscale restaurant with resealable prices. Can’t wait to go back and try something different. Everything was very tasty.

Where to start. The interior has been refurbished. It’s nice but like everything here it needs editing. Why the awful blue and green waves. It would have been much cooler without them. I couldn’t put my finger on what it is they are trying to create. Is it a neighbor hood place or an upscale«fusion» restaurant. Maybe it’s me, are my expectations too high? Staff is nice but not well trained, most have not tried the food, Shame on a new restaurant that does not introduce the staff at every pre-meal to their food. How can they sell your product if they don’t know what it is. I tried 3 appetizers, started with the Edamame. I should have read the menu more closely, it’s just steamed edamame with salt, I could make that at home. Next up the Shrimp with Walnuts and a spicy sauce. Shrimp was nice and tender, three pieces of walnut– no spice at all and some weird crispy creamy coating. Next the sweet Pork Spare Ribs-I was hoping for succulent meaty ribs and got dry and boring. I guess the devil is in the details, music is tied into someones cell phone(Pandora) which kept cutting out so the last 2⁄3 of the evening no music. Staff is allowed to go behind the bar so it’s always congested and no one is waiting on the guests, It’s a jumbled mess. They are trying hard but lack of leadership and true restaurant knowledge is what will hold them back. All kinds of staff drinks behind the bar, along with cell phones, purses and coats a glass rack sat on the bar for an hour. The bathrooms are clean but again, the cheapest toilet paper ever, the toilet brush in the corner. Come on we can do better. I would just like to go to a restaurant that has a clear idea of what they are trying to be, formal training, neat and clean with food that is well thought out and delicious. No More It’s Just OK, I want more. I will go back, it wasn’t awful. I will adjust my ecsxpectations, sit at the bar and enjoy the mediocer that is upstate NY.

First time here since the re-launching. They did a beautiful job with the remodeling and its a really beautiful spot. Regarding the food, some highs and lows. Someone has decided that the soup shouldn’t be accompanied by crunchy noodles. Apparently they’re not fancy enough for the new spot. Sad! Also, the Crab Rangoons are beautifully presented but they are too much wrapper to be enjoyed. I got the Crunch Shrimp Jalapeño Roll topped with a spicy crab salad. Sounds spicy right? Not so much. If it wasn’t for the wasabi, it would have been bland. On the other end of the spectrum, my sister had the Roast Pork Loin Mein and she said it was the best she’s ever had. All in all, there is room for improvement.
