We LOVE Scotia Diner. Having recently moved to Scotia we were searching for a quaint breakfast nook with charm and character to go to. The Elvis/50’s décor is definitely talking point, and it’s hard not to smile looking around. Everything we’ve had has been delicious, the staff is very accommodating, and service is prompt. We can’t wait for our friends and family to visit to take them to this cute place.

Great spot for breakfast on a weekend morning, service is sometimes a little slow in the evenings due to only having 1 – 2 waitresses on. Lady at the door is always very nice!

It was my first visit to Scotia Diner and it won’t be my last. My favorite part of the meal was the large serving of french fries as I like them crispy. The fries were called skinny fries as they are long and thin and definitely crispy but not burned! My husband also really liked the chocolate milkshake. All the food was good, but these were our favorites. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is fun. I would like to give Scotia Diner 5 stars but I want to go back and try more selections off of the menu first. I would definitely recommend going, though, as the food is good and you feel like you are in an episode of Happy Days.

$ 15.29 for 3 pancakes, oj, coffee and and breakfast sandwich(on a store-bought kaiser roll that was soggy on the bottom). These are prices I’d expect in a NYC Bistro, but no, it’s the Scotia Diner. This breakfast was mediocre at best. I’ll stick to the Glenville Queen if I want diner food in this area.

Never again. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was how incredibly filthy the floor was. And not just in spots… THEENTIREFLOOR. Several table still had dirty dishes on them even though it wasn’t busy at all. We were seated right away and then waited about 10 minutes before the server came over. After that, we waited some more to place our order. Food took FOREVER to come out. It wasn’t anything to rave about. We only ordered two sandwiches. After we were done, our server was standing at another table talking, and talking, and talking. Didn’t even look over to where we were. Not happy and will never go back. I think if the place was clean, the waiting wouldn’t have bothered us so bad. But that’s all I pretty much thought about until we left. One thing I am glad about is I didn’t need to use the restroom. Just the thought of what it probably looked like makes me gag.

Horrible service waited for a half hour for my food then left! All I had was a cup of coffee and when I paid the lady at the cash register was oblivious to what was happening ! Don’t waste your time with this place!

Waited, waited, waited for our food. Then waited some more. The waitress never came over to our table to refill drinks or check on things. If you have a couple of hours to spare the food was good but it wasn’t good enough for me to come back.

Underwhelming at best. Ordered our food and it took us almost 45 minutes to get our food(It was not super busy but there were only two waitresses on) Didn’t order anything crazy. Eggs over easy was my order and my boyfriend ordered a sandwich. His sandwich was good. My eggs on the other hand were awful. Certainly not over easy. Price was cheap but you get what you pay for. I would probably not try this place again.

I’m a huge eggs Benedict fan, eat it everywhere I go for breakfast. Very good but not exceptional. Service was outstanding and the coffee was great, highly recommend if you are ever in Scotia NY

The food is pretty good and cheap, And the staff was very sweet and friendly. The décor is cute and campy. The ladies room has glitter on the molding which was something that I thought was unique.

Breakfast was amazing. Great prices and large portions. Only complaint was the place seemed a little on the dirty side even right at opening time. Would recommend this breakfast to anyone.

Such a great value, and incredibly friendly, accommodating staff. We had a large(and kinda rowdy) party, but the food was out fast and they gave us all separate check. The food is everything you would want from a diner — don’t get me wrong, it isn’t fancy, but it is all solidly prepared and really hits the spot.

Scotia diner always has great food. My favorites are the hobo and hobo ultimate. Really good diner atmosphere and service. Thanks to Terry and staff for a great diner in downtown Scotia. Hope you get your missing magazine back.

I actually like the Scotia Diner, it is my go to cheap breakfast place in the area. I’ve given it 3 stars here, but would maybe round up to 3 and ½ if it were an option. Breakfast food is all I’ve had here, but it has always been acceptably good if not great, large portions and friendly service. I enjoy the sassy diner waitresses that work here, and never have to worry about having an empty mug of coffee, which is a requirement for me at a breakfast place. I feel like the place could use a good scrubbing, although it is a fairly new location it already is starting to look a little rough around the edges — the floor looks dirty etc. I do like the retro look of the new place, as the old location which I also frequented, was in pretty rough shape. One small complaint, is that instead of having syrup bottles on the table, they have single serve syrup containers, which I don’t care for(I love me some syrup) Overall this is a place I like to go for a cheap breakfast on the weekend, and is a good option if that is what you are after. If they cleaned up the place a bit more, I would give it 4 stars.

Great specials and excellent service. They have strange hours, but when they’re open you’ll have an enjoyable meal.

I stopped in for a quick lunch a month or so ago. The place was packed due to a special event. I was seated at the counter which is fine. The service was a bit slow and I’ll be forgiving on that point as they sId get were short staffed for the event. I ordered a Mazz sandwich with fries which was Roast Beef, onions, bbq sauce and cheese. The sandwich was big and tasty and the fries were decent. Overall a good bit of food for the price. The place was clean and everyone was friendly if a bit frazzled and overworked. I’ll give them a second chance based on the circumstances they did okay and the food was reasonably priced and tasty.

The new location of the diner [114 Mohawk] has lots of room for parking and the fun 50’s themed décor [complete with tunes from the juke box] bring an extra dose of fun to your meal. I’ve been about half a dozen times since it’s re-opened and have loved my experience each and every time. Moving to the new location seems to have done wonders for this long-time local establishment. I visited a couple of times before they moved from the previous location and would have given a 3 star review back then. Moving to this new, bigger space has really made the diner experience more enjoyable. The staff is always super friendly and warm without being fake or annoying. Have tried several dishes on the menu while I’ve visited a handful of times over the past several months for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast samplers are a great choice if you’re in one of those«can’t pick!» moods. Also recently tried the stuffed pepper soup for the first time. This soup was FANTASTIC. From what I could tell, the soup had a tomatoey broth, chopped peppers and tomatoes, rice, beef, and was seasoned perfectly!

Ah, sigh. The kind of place I want to love the second I walk into it(«ELVISISINTHEBUILDING» emblazoned on the front glass) and yet it seems to take hours to get out of. You have instead of your generic diner at the Scotia, a very idiosyncratic lunch counter with booths style breakfast and lunch place(they close so early — see photo with hours on it – that it can’t really qualify for Dinerhood; pity, since the Scotia Cinema is just across the street) decorated in an eclectic mix of reproduction 50s, rock and roll, and randomized kitsch. I like that, the amateurishness is charming, but it’s layered literally over a pretty grimy joint.(It’s one thing to have a cute«STAYOUTZOMBIES» bar over the door to the empty storefront to one side, it’s quite another for the stains along the metalwork to be credible evidence of actual zombies.) The service was perky and hiya hon to start out with but degraded as the lunch hour picked up and was particularly distressing in the coffee refill deparment(promises for same: four; actual refills: zero; time elapse: an hour and ten minutes.) The kitchen was slow, although our breakfast(half the party got pancakes eggs and bacon) and lunch(patty melt and reuben) were tasty if standard. I’m not sure what the other reviewers were talking about with ample portions since ours were medium small. In the end, merely adequate and quite slow = meh. We bump them up a star based on home-i-ness and local establishment karma as this is obviously a part of «Old Scotia». No alcohol, and no kids menu, fwiw.(For those moments when the two go together.) Elvis left the building and he probably won’t be coming back soon.
