I made my appointment several days in advance. When I arrived, they got my car in right away. Gave me updates during the time my car was back in the shop. Told me about other offers that were available to me. I chose some, I rejected others. My point is that they provided all the information I needed to make my own decisions. No high-​pressure sales gimmicks. I will certainly go back there again.

Let me explain my experience. Around last month, I had to get my car inspected for my license renewals. I took my vehicle to Dobb’s, which ended up to be a serious mistake. Dobb’s tried to tell me that my car needed a catalytic converter replacement and sensor replacements at a whopping $ 1,700 in repairs. I told them I didn’t have that kind of cash, even after I paid them over $ 100 for their diagnostic.
I took this vehicle to Dobb’s at Scott Airforce Base (I had a military star card) and told them my sob story. They decided to do their own diagnostic, which they charged me almost half of what Dobb’s would have charged me, and they laughed at Dobb’s diagnostics. The mechanic told me on the spot that its rare that a catalytic converter would go bad on the vehicle that I was driving. (I own a Toyota Prius) and it was just a simple O2 sensor replacement.
The replacement for just the sensor was around $ 300, nothing close to the $ 1700 price range Dobb’s quoted me. After a month of driving the car, the car’s maintenance light did not pop back on, and my car managed to pass emissions. (And Dobb’s refused to refund me the money I paid on their shoddy diagnostics).
So, going forward, I refuse to step foot into a Dobb’s Tire and Auto store ever again. They have effectively lost my business. Firestone is probably the only place I will go to for Auto repair and maintenance. In addition, with the location on Scott Airforce base, I don’t have to pay taxes on whatever I have to have done on the car. Ain’t being part of the military that grand?
