You open the door and get hit in the face with all sorts of wonderful smells! It really makes your senses go wild! I bought a ton of goodies and now have a fully loaded ice chest! Now all I need is some beer and all is good. Till next time

Hands-down the worst of the specialty meat markets I have been to in Louisiana. To start off the employees are not friendly at all. They act like you are bothering them by patronizing their business and don’t you dare have a question about their meats. You will receive eye rolling and deep sighs in return. I have been there twice and both times I regretted spending my money at this place. The only reason I went a 2nd time was because the other 2 nearest, and also better, boudin spots in the area close at 7pm and The Worst Stop closes at 8pm. I was in the middle of a 12 hour drive and I stop for a snack and to stretch my legs, a little southern hospitality would have been nice. Aside from their horrible service their boudin sucks as well. I purchased boudin balls for the road which were soggy and greasy. No crunch at all. I’ve had better in Georgia and that’s sad to say. Their pre-seasoned pork rib fingers were ok, but nothing I’d get again. Their sausage was also only ok. Their boudin was better than anything from a grocery store but not up to par with the competition in the area. I wouldn’t have even written this review if the customer service wasn’t so bad. I would have simply just gone to other establishments. I have never played the race card in my 32 years of life and feel that in 2016 it should be pretty much non-existent, but I can’t help but feel that it was somehow an issue at this place. I had picked up my smoked boudin and meat and was standing at the counter to check out and the girl behind the register looked at me and continued writing and using a calculator(I think that’s what she was doing). There was another young lady placing boudin balls in the display case who also didn’t acknowledge me. It was surreal, as though they just looked right through me. A few seconds passed and a white male got in line behind me and then all of a sudden the women were able to speak. It was a miracle!!! Like his presence had just given them a voice, even though it wasn’t a very friendly voice it was communication nonetheless. At that moment I realized that I had a similar experience at the same location about a year earlier. The lone bright spot was one slim white male approximately in his mid 20’s who was stocking the freezer with whom I mentioned something about the unfriendly service and he was pleasant to talk to… Give that man a raise and make him manager!!!

Excellent boudin/boudin ball/cracklin place but the one nearby(Billy’s) is better. Still recommended!

We stopped in on our way back to the Lafayette airport specifically for the cracklin’. We were pleasa8surpised that the store has plenty of other fun stuff to pick up as well, in addition to a lot of meat varieties. The cracklin’ lived up to the hype — it was super yummy fresh & still really yummy the day after. If anything, I am kicking myself for not buying more… The cashiers were pleasant but very clueless when it came to anything else in the surrounding area, which surprised me since I figured they would be more knowledgeable of things in general as I’m sure plenty people from out if town stop in. If you are in the area, be sure to stop in for some cracklin’…it really is the best!

I’ve tried most of the different markets in the area and find this one to be the best. I pretty much stop by every time I am in the area and pretty much always get the cracklin. Their boudin is excellent. I have never been disappointed with anything at Best Stop. Check it out… you will be glad you did!

Made a pit stop here on the drive back from New Orleans. They sell anything from smoked boudains, to cracklins, to marinated meats. I ordered ½ lb of the cracklins($ 16/lb I believe) and 3 boudain balls(3 for $ 1.50?~). Overall, I thought it was well seasoned and they really do give you a bang for your buck.

The BEST pepper jack cheese Boudain Balls EVER! Cracklings were great too. Bought $ 80 worth of meats. Love this place! Defiantly worth the stop.

Best Stop never disappoints! A great little meat market with all that you would expect in the heart of cajun country. There are three things that I always leave Best Stop with: 1) Smoked Boudin — no doubt the BEST smoked boudin anywhere! 2) Andouille Sausage — huge, silver dollar diameter andouille links that are simply amazing for eating straight up or cooking into your favorite gumbo or other cajun dish 3) Basic Boudin — not the best of the basic boudins, but a very good example… won’t disappoint even the most discerning boudin palate — good liver content and excellent texture Best Stop is the place for smoked boudin — hands down — be warned though, the smoked boudin has a bit of spice on it, so if you don’t like spicy foods it may be a bit much to handle. You can buy all of their sausages either fresh or frozen — they will even do a hot link for you to snack on as you drive away! The boudin balls are also pretty solid, as are the cracklins(if you go in for cracklins). Pull off the interstate and drive the mile down the road to the Best Stop — it is very much worth the detour, I promise!

Foods great. Customer Service not so great. Charged for 2 links of boudin and didn’t receive them. Went back in not even 1 minutes later and all I got was I’m sorry and charged for 2 more links.

My family has been going to this boudin goldmine for as long as I can remember. Seriously, nothing else compares. Totally worth the drive out to Scott!

The very best boudin balls in the world. A friend had these at his crab boil and turned me on to them. I’m born and raised in New Orleans and tried many boudin sausages all over. But the balls as so much better. I ordered them online

Wish there was a meat market like this closer to home. Got the cheese and original boudin balls. Also, got the cracklins. All are awesome.

You have to go. I stop for a couple dozen boudin balls every time I drive from Texas to Louisiana. This last time, I also picked up some andouille and tasso as well. You can get fresh cracklings and stuffed specialty meats to take home!

Driving around the United States as much as I do, one of the depressing realizations is that it’s difficult to find something that is unique to a particular region that you can’t already get at home. The south, and particularly Louisiana, still has a few things unique to this region, and«The Best Stop» is worth a stop if you want to bring back something special from your travels. Whether it truly is «The Best» is debatable, but there are certainly lots of unique sausages and delicious southern offerings here, like boudin balls, that are worth picking up to store or just to snack on as you drive along. The folks that work here are very friendly and will take their time to show you around and even offer you a free sample or two. They also ship directly to you if you need. The sausage and boudin balls here are hard to beat. This place is a pleasant surprise.

If you’re driving through Lafayette, you must stop here. For it absolutely is the Best Stop. They have every possible type of marinated meat that you can imagine: Boudin, Andouille, Steaks, Chickens, Pork Chops, Cracklin, etc. Their boudin balls are also the best in the area. If you’re looking for some true cajun flavor, stop here.

I was recommended to come here and was not impressed very overpriced and the crack liens or average at best. It’s a good stop it’s just I was already at one that was better and I should’ve stayed. But if you never vendor to compare it then this is a good place but I found another one more in the town and that one was I prefer that one

Freaking amazing. Restrooms are ok for a rest stop. Boudin balls, cracklins, sausage, etc are all great. This is not a real supermarket in the sense you may think however. This is a small town shop. So don’t go looking for a big building like that other place off the highway that you’ll see everyone else go to. It’s a great place. Nice people and friendly service. Get your hydration and meats and you’re good to go to continue on your road trip.

Do you want the BEST smoked boudin money can buy?! Do you want arguably the BEST cracklin you can find anywhere?! Do you want to walk in thinking you’re only gonna buy one pack of boudin but end up having to buy an ice chest to transport everything you purchase?! Then BEST Stop is the place for you!!! They really do have the best boudin anywhere. Their cracklin is fantastic and some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve also heard amazing things about the stuffed pork chops, pork loin, chicken, quail… really anything they have that’s stuffed. Also, they have alligator sausage patties that literally need nothing done to them except cooking. The staff is always very friendly, despite always being busy. But how can they not be friendly when they have the world’s best stuffed anything. I now have to take orders whenever I come out this way because everyone I know wants a piece of this action.

One of the many things that I love about Lafayette and the surrounding areas are the little speciality shops that sell boudin, cracklings and beef jerky. I’ve been to Don’s many times but had never been to The Best Stop. On a recent trip to Lafayette, I decided that needed to change. I came on a Friday morning, which you would think would not have been very crowded at that time, right? Wrong. The place was absolutely packed. I knew then that stopping here was going to prove to be a great decision. The supermarket itself is not fancy but the employees were friendly and considering the crowd in there, that was impressive. I ordered boudin balls, cracklings, boudin and beef jerky. All of these were so damn fantastic and spicy that I’m already planning my next trip here just to get more. I’m not a huge fan of cracklings, but I even loved these. They are burn your lips off spicy and downright delicious. The Best Stop just may actually live up to its overly confident name!
