PAINTED WITH OIL DOES NOT DESERVE ANY STARS For what happened here. They deserve a lawsuit.
DO NOT GO TO «PAINTED WITH OIL IN SCOTTSDALE» unless you’d like your art copied by them and resold in the very same store! My client purchased an original painting by me, and brought it in to the shop to get it framed last year. A few days ago my same client went into PAINTED WITH OIL IN SCOTTSDALE again, and to her absolute surprise and horror, sees THE SAME PAINTING SHE BROUGHT IN LAST YEAR, BEING SOLD IN THE STORE! Well, how can it be the same one, if she has the original, now nicely framed, in her home?
What happened here? Does PAINTING WITH OIL IN SCOTTSDALE photograph or scan paintings that they are asked to frame, and then a year later, print them, paint over them with a few brushstrokes here and there so they look original, and sell them as their own?
I called and talked to the manager ADAM GILBOURNE (who is actually listed as owner of this business in the US Business Database, though he claimed the owner never came in to the shop) in regard to this discovery. He repeatedly said «it was a random piece of art, I don’t know how it got here, it didn’t even have a SKU on it, and it was from a lady in China named Emma. I don’t know how she got the image, I truly wish I could tell you. We get art from all over the place, we get a lot of art from China. I don’t know where it came from. It was just some random piece. In five years this has only happened once or twice.» He kept saying the same thing. Random? China?
PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT, CLEARLY SOMETHING IS WRONG HERE, AND A SIGNIFICANT BREACH OF TRUST, PROFESSIONALISM, AND COPYRIGHT LAW HAS BEEN COMMITTED BY SOMEONE.
If you are an artist, photographer, or a creator of any other kind of artwork which is 2D, DO NOT let it into the hands of the folks at PAINTED BY OIL IN SCOTTSDALE, unless you’d like to risk seeing it unlawfully copied and resold possibly all over the world.

On a tip from our interior designer, we stopped in. This business offers handpainted work from over 250 artists at great prices. They will also customize anything you see. Need a different size, different color? They’ll have the artist make it for you for no additional charge. An incredible variety of styles (abstract, contemporary, traditional, etc) on mostly canvas, but some metal works as well. Also in-​house framing available.
Are the artists the great artists of our time? Doubtful. But if you’re looking for affordable artwork to fill that blank wall, I encourage you to check it out. There is some talent there. If you’re not a fan of oil, don’t bother of course.
