Burns Parker House Cafe

I designated drive and occasionally go in for a coke and some food, which is decent for a smoking bar. I was trying to retrieve the people I was driving for one night and the guy at the door checking ID’s was insanely disrespectful. I informed him that we were going in souly to pick someone up and he not only insinuated that my ID was fake but then was very disrespectful to my girlfriend as well. Enough to where she turned around and walked back to the car. We are near our 30s so we don’t look like high school kids trying to get in. Other than that time (which was within the last month) we always go here and enjoy it. A place you can go even with a shade of social anxiety and not feel unwelcomed by the regulars.

The place always looked questionable but I finally stopped in with some friends on a whim. Friendly crowd, helpful staff, great prices on drinks and food, tasty and somewhat unexpected bar menu including stellar Texas cheeseburgers. I wish we had made this a regular stop during my days at MU.

This is a great place.
