We are out of towners visiting a sick relative and needed dinner. As you walk in it smelled wonderful. The food matched the smell and also was delish.

Approximately one year ago, my aunt was doing very poorly in the hospital. She was the matriarch of the family, and many of us were keeping a bedside vigil, including several family members from out of town. I called to see if this restaurant(2 blocks from the hospital) could accommodate a party of 16 that evening. I asked appropriate questions: would the wait times be long for service/food, would there be enough staff, etc. I was assured we could be accommodated. I made a reservation for 5:15pm for a party of 16. When we arrived, the table was set up with bread baskets and glasses of water. I was hopeful! We all arrived by 520pm, and our orders were not taken until 615pm. Our food arrived after 7, and well after three of our party had to leave the restaurant for prior commitments. We were still charged for their meals which had to be packaged to go. We didn’t order anything complicated-many of us just ordered sandwiches. The food is just all right-nothing spectacular. And I just cannot imagine anyone taking that reservation knowing what our experience would be. I work at that same hospital, just 2 blocks from this restaurant, and I will never return. They ruined what should have been relaxing family time away from a stressful situation for us. I was very embarrassed that I made this reservation and took my family here. It was NOT an enjoyable evening. At all.

Best food you will find anywhere my wife and I eat there at least once a week we have never had a bad meal we live close by and do not know who owns the restaurant we would recommend it to anyone who likes Italian foods prices are reasonable service is like most places we do not drink so can not comment on the price of their drinks their red sauce is almost as good as my mom used to make not as good no one can match her tomato sa use but they come close

Service is a bit slow in my experience. Calamari was mediocre. It’s an average restaurant. La Trattoria serves better Italian food and better bread. The interior seemed much nicer on my last visit than it did when I was a kid. Despite being extremely close to my home, Café Classico is almost always out of the conversation when considering where to go for dinner or lunch.

Nothing special about the menu. Server gave a group of us(and groups are probably common, since it is by the University) a hard time for asking for separate checks, which is a personal pet peeve. The food is ok, but I would never recommend it specifically.

A taste of Mulberry Street in NY on Mulberry Street in Scranton! Passing through on our way from the city to Syracuse, we stopped off for lunch halfway. Couldn’t have made a better choice. Good food, attentive service, well worth a visit.

I have been here three times and I have to say I probably will not be coming here again. Service was extremely slow, there was 6 of us our bill was $ 166 and only 5 beers were purchased so I must say it was very expensive. All meals came with a TINY side of pasta, I substituted vodka sauce and was charged $ 3.95! Also, refills are NOT free on soda/ice tea. We were charged $ 1.75 for each glass. They also forgot one of our parties side pasta dish… Ended up brining it out right before we got our check. Food was just okay… nothing impressive. The broccoli/cauliflower soup with sausage that the waiter talked us into getting was the worst soup I have ever had in my entire life. The consistently felt like I was eating grass… We all had to throw our soups away… I have had better Italian at many other restaurants in the area. Not sure if they changed management or what but this place is definitely off my list.

all around a great restaurant. Service was great and all of the entrees were delicious. Not a huge fan of the décor but what really matters are the flavors of the food and desserts and Café Classico doesnt fail to deliver!

This place has achieved a remarkable balance: family casual with gourmet quality entrees as well. A couple with two small girls enjoyed what looked to be a great thin crust tomato mozzarella pizza while we had delicious calamari and marinara sauce, brazciole(sp?), and veal with eggplant. The salad was fresh and delicious, the lentil soup was superb. Service wasn’t perfect, friendly. Definitely recommend and we’ll go back

I had dinner here last night with some family. The garlic knot appetizer was huge and full of garlic. Caesar salad was a little lacking, but I’m not really a salad person anyways. I ordered the Cheese Tortellini Carbonara. The serving size is HUGE. I’m not a modest eater and I barely took down half of it. Luckily, I get to eat it again for dinner tonight which makes me very happy. We also ordered the Meat Ravioli, Vegetable Lasagna, and Gnocchi Quattro Stagione(sp?). Everybody enjoyed their dishes and had some to take home too. We enjoyed Cannolis(very cheesy, but I liked it) and Lemon Cream Cake for dessert. Service wasn’t too bad and it wasn’t that crowded until we left.

Every year we get our Christmas Tree from Mulberry Bush next door. This year, Mike and Helene gave us a coupon to Café Classico. We were hungry, so we decided to stop in. I used to eat here in high school when I was My Place, so I wasn’t expecting much more than the pizza shop it used to be. Everything was great! The clams, calimari, my Fra Diavolo, even the pizza for my son were all excellent. They also have great Italian deserts and you can go see them in a nice display case. No more waiting for the Italian Festival or going to NYC for good pastries. We plan on going again soon and it is a new part of our Christmas tradition. Nay Aug lights first, Café Classico second and then the tree next door.

This place is definitely an untapped resource for pizza in Scranton. There are plenty of places to get pizza downtown but no one does it like Café Classico. The pizza is a thin and crispy crust and the combinations offered all include fresh ingredients and complimenting tastes. Prices are on the higher end when it comes to pizza but it is well worth it. I would recommend trying some of their sauceless pies like the tomato and mozzarella.
