I ordered take out so this review is strictly regarding the food. I ordered penne vodka, which was hands down, the worst I’ve ever had. It was practically water. Very bland, with no real flavor. So disappointing. The only saving grace was the fresh bread.

Great food! Love the stuffed artichokes! Ordered pasta with clams in red sauce and I wanted to lick the plate it was so good. Went on a Saturday night w/o reservations and was seated promptly, place was packed but the wait for our order was quick. I will be back to try some other dishes. Love the bread as well!

Went to La Trattoria last night with family and had an enjoyable meal and experience. We were seated promptly and quickly greeted with a very friendly waitress and fresh bread. Upon arriving, we took advantage of $ 5 wine night. The seafood ravioli was delicious and free refills are offered on all pasta dishes. The restaurant is clean and prices are reasonable. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Huge portions of everything made fresh, delicious bread and butter… Need I say more? I’ve tried many things on the menu. Their vodka sauce is THEBEST. So if you’re looking for a good penne al la vodka. Go there and enjoy!

Over 2 hours on a Monday night and maybe the worst red sauce I have ever had out. Now I remember why I haven’t been here in 10 years. The bread was by far the high point of the night.

Excellent pasta and great service! The brick oven bread and garlic butter is my favorite. Anything you try you’ll love. The owner is great as is the chef

For this area this restaurant is a neat little place to hit. The service is friendly and the brick oven bread salad and olive oil a nice touch. I had seafood linguine. The seafood was good. Nice portion for the modest price The linguine noodles could be a little better. Not sure if they make these on site. You can’t expect Mulberry St NYC level of goodness. But still it was very good.

Probably fifteen years since my last visit but they did nor disappoint. Four adults and a three year old stopped for lunch after a visit to Steamtown. Mid-afternoon so not all menu options were available. The service and food were both as wonderful as I’d remembered. The three year old could have been happy with just the basket of delicious warm bread from the wood fired oven but enjoyed his home made pasta, too. The adults all were pleased with the freshness and flavor of the salad, bread and pasta. Good food, drinks, and service at a reasonable price.

I have lived in the Scranton area for nine years and wanted to go to this place many times. I wanted a woodfired oven pizza. The service was extremely fine and friendly. I had’ the biggie’ pizza and a house salad. It was Crisp and fresh with their homemade Italian Caesar dressing. Sadly overdressed but a good salad. The pizza was delicious with lots of the stated ingredients and tons of scrutiny mozzarella. But what I don’t get about East Coast pizzas is why the center few inches is soaking wet and falling apart. The rest of the crust from about 4 inches out from the center was wonderful and chewy. But I had to scoop up the center and eat it with my fork. I would definitely go back again and try their other Italian specialties.

A family-owned staple in Scranton. I ate here frequently from a young age until I went away to school. The bread is the best you’ll find anywhere in Scranton. The pasta sauce in my experience has varied in quality, but, on an average visit, is good. If it’s not enough, they’ll give you another serving for free. That’s a real family restaurant. The wood-fired pizza is the real gem here. It became a menu option maybe six years ago and is unmatched. Really, really delicious with a liberal application of toppings.

Passing through Scranton I stopped by this restaurant for lunch. It was a great lunch experience. Had a fantastic meal and Mary Ellen at the bar provided outstanding service!

This place is a little gem. The wood fired oven is a huge touch, and the bread that they serve is really top notch. I ordered their Alla Bianco pizza and was very happy with it. My coworkers ordered different pizzas and had a great meal as well. However, they offer a lot more than pizza. They have a lunch deal called mangia mangia where you can have as many entrees as you can eat(though you have to finish them before getting a new one) from a limited list. If you’re hungry, that’s the thing for you!

There are some wonderful family restaurants in Scranton and this among them. Excellent food and great service(see Chrissy). Don’t miss this restaurant.

Like coming home again. We had a wonderful experience, great food, great service and very reasonable. Portions are very generous, just finished left overs tonight. The aroma from the wood fired oven and garlic rolls with herbed butter is awesome. Home made pasta, great seasoning, and fresh seafood. Looking forward to coming back.

I love this place! My particular favorite is the chicken scaparelli with spinach. Most of the pasta and gnocchi are fresh(shaped pasta like rotini are boxed) and the rolls are baked in a wood-fired oven. I wish that the herbed butter that they give you with the rolls was real butter rather than margarine but I’m willing to overlook that because it’s still pretty yummy. The pasta is always wonderfully al dente and the portions are HUGE! We always make it a point to stop in for a meal when we are in Scranton.

Just got home from lunch & I may not have to eat again for a week. I had heard about their«Mangia Mangia» lunch, but never had the opportunity to try it(it runs 11 – 1:30). I was beyond pleased & will return again, & again. Having eaten there before, I was familiar with the bread — I want to take the baker/chef home with me. I didn’t know if it was included w/the special, but I was willing to pay extra for it. The«Mangia Mangia» lunch is your choice of 5 entrees, one at a time(if you can manage to eat them all) soup, small salad & dessert – for a very reasonable price. The Stracciatella soup was excellent, although I do prefer Asiago instead of Parmesan. It was velvety & flavorful, especially when paired with the wheat bread. The list of entrees changes monthly, today I chose the Chicken Marsala & Risotto w/mushrooms. My only critique would be the pairing of the Marsala w/a red sauce side. Ideally, I’d have preferred the pasta covered w/the Marsala sauce. The chicken was tender & tasty, the sauce thick & wonderful. The Risotto was an excellent pairing of cheesy(but not too cheesy) risotto & an abundance of sauteed mushrooms. My companion had the Rollatini & I thought I would like to try it(as she had been making mmmmm & nomnom sounds throughout her meal) but I knew I would not be able to stuff it in. Our very pleasant & attentive server had noticed my perhaps interest in another entrée(a spicy penne) and suggested it as my 3rd entrée. I will have to return for that. The dessert selections w/the special are the usual ice cream, brownie, or rice pudding. However, if you want something different there are a myriad of Italian specialties on the main menu, all wonderful; especially the cannoli – I’d leave an arsenal for the cannoli. I’ve read all the negatives people have posted here & wonder whether we’ve been to the same restaurant.

La Trattoria has been around for many years. Over two decades I would say. I have been there a handful of times and I would say it doesn’t even come close to the top tier of Italian restaurants I would choose in Scranton. The marinara sauces is very sub-par. Their bread is freshly made in a brick over and is fantastic but that is really all this restaurant has going for them. I was there a few weeks ago and left very disappointed.

So disappointed today. LaTrattoria is our favorite Italian restaurant in downtown Scranton. Love their HUGE antipasti and was really looking forward to it. Got there along with another couple at 1:30 on a Sunday and they were CLOSED even though their website said they’d be open at 1:00! So disappointed. Ended up going to Traxx at the Lackawanna Station Radisson and had a delicious lunch. Not well done, LaTrattoria. Change your website, please.
