Definitely the most chill bar in Scranton. Very cool atmosphere. Great separate room for playing pool so you don’t have to be bumping into people while playing a game of billiards.

One of the few bars in Scranton that I actually like. They have St-Germain and Cointreau. It’s nice inside. I like the barkeep. I don’t want to punch most of the patrons. The prices are reasonable. It’s clean. I dig it.

This place is a great change of pace from the typical bar scene in Scranton. Low key, warm ambiance, great owners/staff, and great drinks!

A small, down-to-earth bar to go to if you want to just hangout with you friends. It is a bit small for my liking and would prefer to go to Kildare’s or Backyard to get drinks because it is more spacious and has more people.

Easily the most distinct«neighborhood» bar in Scranton — don’t be fooled by the humble exterior. Hip but cozy décor with lots of great corners to have conversation, even with a band playing(every Thursday, and never a cover). Beer selection is not as extensive as some places, but every choice is distinct and a winner, and you could try something new daily and never run out of fantastic options. The owner and staff are knowledgeable and welcoming, and the chili is pretty darn good too. My favorite bar in Scranton, without question, and when the Coal Town Rounders are playing, there is no better place to be.

Don’t be afraid when you pull up. Great inside, kind of Moroccan in design. Nice bar, tables. Limited food — panninis — but tasty. Close to highway 81.

Good beer selection which is the main thing that gets me in the door. Haven’t had the food so stop asking me about it. Nice, cozy, dark atmosphere. Kind of a yuppie bar but not full yuppie. Tolerable levels of yuppieness.

Jack’s appeals to all the categories on my checklist. It’s cozy and classy, reminiscent of a pub in the UK. It also seems to have a classy clientele, so the«boisterous drunk» factor is minimal. Its selection of beers is solid, and they have a few decent wines too. They don’t offer much traditional pub food, which eliminates the«wing night» crowd, but they make a great chili which I tend to get on a cold night. All of the barkeeps are cool and calm. They’re attentive but not pushy sellers. There are 5 different types of settings, which is amazing for a bar this size. Each offers different kinds of ambience for whatever bar experience you’re looking for. The fireplace room fills up fast though. It can get a little crowded, but I can’t remember a time I wasn’t able to find seats for a party of two. Parking is sometimes hard to count on but I can’t complain too much there since I live a mere 3 blocks away. This is the best bar around as far as I’m concerned. And it gets bonus points for managing to be unpretentious and largely free from the influence of «The U.»

One of my absolute favorite bars in Scranton. It’s cozy, the atmosphere is awesome, and it’s a bar that I don’t feel like I have to scream in just to talk to someone. Great staff, good selection, and the interior is worth the visit, for sure.

Stopped by Jack’s for the first time and I was blown away. It’s a very unassuming building from the exterior, but once inside, it’s like you’re transported out of Scranton. The layout provides the opportunity to have an private area to relax in. We sat in the upper room to the left of the entrance. There were two couches with coffee tables and two round tables with chairs in the area. The couches were huge and we were able to sit 4+ to a couch. Everything was clean and well coordinated. I would say it has almost a ski lodge/hunting cabin theme with a lot of natural elements brought in. My only complaint is the draft selection and lack of a draft list. The taps are tucked behind the bar and are impossible to read from the open area when people are sitting at the bar. I asked the bartender for a draft list and she told me they didn’t have one, but instead asked me if I like light or dark beer. I’m knowledgeable about beer and just needed to know what was on tap, not a recommendation. A draft list would definitely be helpful. This is going to become one of my go-to bars for sure.

Echoing the established sentiment, I’m going to go ahead and say that this is the nicest bar in Scranton. Hands down, no contest and, wait for it… bar none. This is a fantastic place to start, spend or end your evening. Sure, there are other places that are more convenient, less expensive or have a more varied crowd. Once you step inside, those things become irrelevant. Let’s begin with some history: this place has been«Jack’s Draft House» for quite some time. It used to be known for its vast selection of beer as well as its burgers. It was also a filthy dump that did nothing to improve this neighborhood, commonly described as «transitional» or «in flux.» The Hill section has seen both better and worse days. The reincarnated Jack’s Draft House has carried over nothing but the name and location, and is very much welcome in the Hill section. The interior is stunning and offers five distinct spaces in which to hang: the bar itself, the more private/hidden«loft» and«lounge» areas, the pool table room and two sit-down spaces with tables and benches or chairs. You’ll find a limited food menu(this is not«pub food,» but rather a selection of grilled sandwiches and, for example, dips) and a very respectable selection of beers on tap. If there was one criticism I could issue, it would be the lack of a more varied menu for those who might be looking to have a more complete meal. I can understand why they might want to keep things basic and un-fried though. As I mentioned, the crowd is rather homogenous — not in a bad way, though — I’ve noticed that most visitors tend to be late young adult to early middle aged, relatively well dressed and largely well behaved. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but appearances certainly can be — and often are — deceiving. In a town with perhaps more bars per capita than anywhere else, Jack’s is truly an oasis.

Nicest bar in Scranton, don’t be misled by the exterior. Cozy rooms with fireplaces, good selection of beers, a pool table and great food — especially for sharing. Perfect spot for a date or a low key night with friends.

Super laid back, cool bar located on a residential street Scranton/Wilkes-Barre region of NEPA – was happily surprised and pleased with its atmosphere and stiff drinks. The best aspect was how many different rooms one could choose to hang out in. Perfect for reconnecting friends, chill live music, and dates. A personality blend of Scranton, Ithaca, and Brooklyn to keep me going back when in town

USED to be a dirtbag college kid bar, BUT now it’s by far the nicest bar in Scranton. it’s like a steampunk ski lodge that serves paninis, etc. nice staff. great hang *note: there are no steampunks to be seen here… thank god
