All the walls are covered with strange stuff; even the men’s room will amaze you. I liked the food as well and they have a huge selection of craft and bottled beers. Must-see while in Scranton! recommend this place because it is really amazing!

How does this place stay open. No one in here and the service is terrible. Who cares what the food is like if it takes an hour to get a drink.

The food was okay, service left some to be desired. I was with a party of 6, we got there around 10:45ish. We sat down and ordered drinks, which took quite a while to get to us once ordered. I ordered chicken tenders and fries. They were okay. All of our drinks were on the weaker side. We ordered another round and requested them to be stronger. They came out as requested. I don’t know if it was a low staffed night, or we came in a little too late but everything was slow getting to us. Drinks and food. Also, one person in my party had to put his orders for both drinks and his food in twice. Maybe the server didn’t hear him but yeah. This restaurant was conveniently located across the street from the hotel, and that is about the only way I would come back to this place. That and if I only wanted to drink and I would sit directly at the bar. Their table service(as described above) needed some improvement.

This use to be a favorite for my husband and I but not so much now. My 2 favorite things were taken off the menu some time ago. Philly cheese steak boxty and Reuben burger. They were sooooo good. Most things on the menu are bland these days. The only things worth eating are apps like the wings and pretzels. Slow service. Very nice décor though

This is my first Unilocal review and I felt compelled to sign up and submit this because this place is so infuriatingly subpar. And I mean that as someone who worked in food service as a waiter and a bartender. And I don’t expect a lot from PA, but this was pretty terrible. First I called ahead to see how long the wait would be for six people and was told three times by two different people that they weren’t taking reservations. So after stating repeatedly that I wasn’t trying to make a reservation I said, «Imagine I’m standing in front of you right now. How long is the wait for six people?» She didn’t deign to respond and after being passed off to a more senior person(I guess??) and repeating myself I finally got an answer of, «Uh about 30 – 45 minutes.» When we arrived we decided to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table hoping it would help. So then we order within ten minutes of sitting down and proceeded to wait almost an hour and half for our food and when I got mine it was the saddest hamburger I’ve ever seen. It was overcooked and the lettuce, tomato, and onion looked they came from a school cafeteria and the meager handful of French fries they served with it were the last bits from the bottom of the fryer. Worse than that, my friend ordered only pretzels and chicken fingers and had to wait almost two hours. Needless to say I never need to come here again. I would rate them less than a star if I could.

The Kildares in West Chester is awesome, its a PUB. The Kildares in Scranton however is more of a cheap irish-themed club. Went there to grab a bite and instead witnessed a older gentleman sticking his hand down the back of his date’s pants in full view of the whole dining area. When we alerted our waitress she said«oh my… well…security gets here at 10 so…» and scurried off seemingly embarrassed. Gross.

Great spot for the annual St Paddys Day Parade. Crazy amounts of liquor with an entire menu page of beer to choose from. Great décor too. Certainly looks like a typical Irish pub. I ordered the bangers & mash; savory and tender. Excellent! Will return for sure. Cheers!

Nice big menu with healthy and naughty options. Plenty of micro brew beers as well as daily specials. Staff was excellent and attentive. thanks Ryan!

I stopped in here to get a bite to eat at about 9pm on a Friday after arriving in Scranton. Upon being seated, it was evident that they were setting up for the evening crowd by removing tables and chairs from what appeared to be the main dining area to make room for a DJ and dancing. The beer was cheap and cold. The nachos that I had as an appetizer were amazing– they used thick cut kettle cooked potato chips as opposed to traditional corn nachos. I had the fish and chips as a meal. This was great too, but I wish they had increased the fish to french fry ratio. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I’d definitely eat here again.

A group of us stopped in for a quick beer and to watch the Penn State game between a wedding and reception of a friend of ours. The area of the bar we sat at(right-hand, near the front of the restaurant) was swarming with flies. The bartenders were friendly and the beers/appetizers were fine, although it did take asking 4 different bartenders and about 30 minutes to get them to change the nearby TV to Big Ten network. I’ve been to the Kildaire’s in State College and in West Chester, and I’d rank both above this location — pretty bland overall.

Decent beer selection but not friendly bar staff. Refused by bar staff with two forms of ID and I don’t look 21. Rooftop is nice. But overall disappointed.

The food is good, the beer prices are good, and the happy hour on a Friday is a good deal for anyone with the half priced appetizers and good prices on drinks. I tried a few different appetizers and was really impressed with the buffalo chicken egg rolls. They had a nice surprise with the spice to it that I wasn’t expecting. The Philly cheesesteak egg rolls were also good, as well as the pretzel tower. I do have a couple of smaller complaints that keep this as a three. There is a loose board on the rooftop right in front of the bar up there that I tripped over and almost fell on and saw someone else from another group do the same thing a little later. It’s in a really bad place and should really be taken care of. Also they didn’t have much of a beer choice upstairs. I completely understand how expensive it would be to get a draft system up there, but we were told at one point they didn’t have any bottles up there and we had to go downstairs.

My first trip to Kildare’s was quite a disappointment because I didn’t like the service or the food. So I figured I’d try it again, but unfortunately this time the experience was worse than the first. My friend and I decided to sit on the upstairs deck. It was very enjoyable– especially on such a beautiful summer night. The bartender/waiter seemed very confused and not sure what he was doing. I’m not sure why but it almost seemed like it was his first day. I ordered a «Baby Spinach» salad(exactly how it was listed on the menu–«Baby Spinach»). I asked them to add Salmon which is an option according to the menu. The man took our order and brought us water. Later another man came up from downstairs to confirm our order. It took awhile(not a problem because my friend and I were able to talk longer), but when our food came– I did not get what I ordered. Then we had no further attention from our server. I tried to grab his attention for get the bill, but after a few unsuccessful minutes I just walked up to the bar and requested the bill. Compared to the other patrons, we were being ignored. Wasn’t worth the price or the wait.

Huge beer list here! Popped in mid afternoon for a late lunch. Enjoyed a nice beer from CT and fajita tacos. This place knows their beer you can tell but since I’m not too knowledgable in that area I will leave it for others to comment on. The tacos however were quite good– 3 to an order and plenty sizable. I like some fire but the fresh jalapeños tucked in there put these a bit over the top for me, but the blackened chicken strips inside were just right. The patio has quite a lot of street noise but it was too nice to stay inside! I’d come again. The prices were very reasonable and one could easily spend the afternoon sampling various craft brews.

Service sucked!!! After having horrible service at another local bar and walking around town trying to find something that was open we ended up back here. We wanted to sit outside, it was a nice night. The bartender/server came over right away and asked for our drink order… we asked about ciders to which he answered only one was carried at the upstairs bar. And that not all drinks were at the upstairs bar and went on to say he couldn’t get any from downstairs. There was one other table and 3 other workers at the bar, so they were NOT busy!!! We ended up going downstairs for the drinks, and did order dinner from upstairs. When the manager came with our food we complained and the manager was rude and did not care that the services was rude and not helpful. He did end up buying us a round of drinks… however service sucked! Food was great though!

I have been to Kildairs a few times. Kildairs is located in downtown Scranton. If you drive here Kildairs is one of the few earteries that has there own parking lot. There is street parking but you will have to pay. The place reeks of Ireland the waitresses wear tank tops with plad miniskirts. The food here is good not the best not the worst. The burgers are good. I would stick to the appetizers. I noticed a lot of people drinking at the bar I have never drank here I do not know if they have drink specials on beer. I do know they have a very large beer selection. Tap and bottled. I had the fried calamari. The calamari was good I was surprised. Kildairs does have outdoor seating. I noticed a lot of people sitting outside eating lunch today. Overall Kildairs is a good spot for lunch. Food is best when kept simple. I am sure I will be back. I recommend coming here is you like beer.

This place is a club, not a pub, after 10pm on the weekends. I hate the club atmosphere(DJ sucks, and it’s mostly just college kids fist pumping all night, and the bartenders are too swamped to serve drinks properly), but during the day and during the week it’s actually not so bad for dinner. The BFG wings are awesome.

Second time coming here for lunch and I have to say I’m a bit underwhelmed. We used the coupon for a free tower of pretzels… Pretty standard. Came with 3 dipping sauces. But comparing it to the pretzels and sauce that you get at Backyard Alehouse Kildares nacho cheese and mustard doesn’t cut the mustard. Onto entrees. One member ordered a salmon blt which was fantastic. Good portion and tasty chipotle sauce. Another ordered the chicken fingers and fries, again standard but well done. I ordered the blackened mahi mahi tacos minus the pineapple salsa(I’m allergic) and I was underwhelmed. One sliver of fish was all I got in each and it was so over seasoned I couldn’t taste anything but heat. Don’t get me wrong, I like heat and spice, but this could’ve been a chicken taco and I wouldn’t have tasted the difference because my mouth was burning. It was served with French fries which were tasty. If you’re coming here pick carefully what you order. They have a large beer selection and I’m told good happy hours, so maybe skip lunch and come at night.
