This was by far the freshest and most innovative sushi I have had. Don’t let the outside fool you the interior is elegant and modern. Try the signature appetizers and unique rolls. Can’t say enough good things about this place. As good as any Manhattan pricey sushi joint but affordable and friendly. You go to see the bathroom sink… it is cool!

Sushi(ordered tuna, salmon, eel, white tuna) was fresh. Miso soup and side salad were disappointing. Individual in our party has gluten allergies and the staff seemed to not understand nor make any suggestions.

Really great service and atmosphere. It also has delicious food, with any item you can’t go wrong. My personal favorite is the spicy tuna roll, it is the best. The staff are also very friendly and kind.

This meal was excellent. The sushi was fresh and the presentation was beauttiful. Great martinis with Jay as a fantastic mixologist. Atmosphere is comfortable, ambience friendly, and service is extremely personal. If you want real sushi and real people. …come to Yume, you won’t be sorry! !!!

Came in for lunch and opted for the miso soup and seasweed salad to start. Soup was very good and the salad was served over sliced cucumbers which helped make it a bit more substantial than other versions I have had. I selected the toro tartar and hamachi jalepeno appetizers for my mains. The hamachi was possibly one of the best presented and tastiest versions of this that I have had. Very flovorful and filled with umami undertones. The tartar had a bit too much wasabi for me even after mixing in the quail egg and the undressed tuna. Nice décor, albeit a bit dim, and the service was friendly.

The freshest fish, the best quality, beautiful presentation, very friendly people. Can’t ask for more than that in a sushi place. And the roadwork on Keyser Ave is no longer a problem so get out there and try this fantastic place! I’m so glad I finally did!

I wasn’t sure about yume– I must have driven past it a dozen time before finally deciding to give it a try. I think it is a fun place and the sushi was great. Probably the freshest sushi rice I have ever had. I had a green dragon and orange salmon roll– both were perfect. The staff was great– super friendly and polite. I will definitely come in again.

volcano roll is delicious! It has a fried scallop on it and I was in heaven. We got take-out for valentine’s day. The only complaint is the spicy lobster roll was too spicy for me and I burnt my lips !

Sushi was prepared very well and the ambiance makes you feel like you’re not in PA(thank God). The staff was attentive and gave great advice on food options. A little odd that they charge for each soft drink and don’t offer free refills but other than that, I would totally go back!!!

We’ve been you Yume 3 times in the last 2 months, or so. This last time around, I was kind of dragged in by my wife. I wasn’t overly impressed with our first two visits, though the sushi itself had been quite good. The sushi: 4 stars for the sushi on its own. The rolls have all been very good. A couple are pretty small for the price, and I left hungry on our fist visit. Knowing that, I ordered a bit more on the next two visits. Overall, in terms of value, I’d say they fall a bit short of their local competition. You get equally fresh sushi in larger portions at Blu Wasabi for about the same tab, but the sushi at Yume is delicious, nonetheless.(Some plates come with battery operated, blinking decorations and they should be thrown in the trash ASAP.) The service: Though friendly, the service has been a bit slow all three times. For me, it’s always most noticeable when A) you wait to see a server for the first time and get your drink order in, B) when you close your menu and it takes a while until someone comes around to take your order or C) when you’ve asked for the check and there’s a delay settling up. They seem a little bit slow in all of these areas, but that can be fixed relatively easily. The atmosphere: The restaurant is newly redone in a way that’s kind of trendy for NEPA. There’s not much to the décor that’s particularly interesting, and it seemed kind of bland and unfinished to me on a night when the place was sparsely filled. That said, it’s freshly redone and clean. The soundtrack is a mix of songwriters, mostly from the 70’s and 80’s, such as The Eagles, Carol King and Jackson Browne. Good music that’s soft enough that you can carry on a conversation, though you can also hear most of the others in the room. That quality makes the place feel kind of flat when the crowd thins out. I’m still on the fence: Not ready to write them off and not too excited to go back here, either. No doubt I’ll be back, though, because my wife seems to like it here.

–Not one Asian customer in an Asian restaurant. –Sushi deluxe came with an illuminating plastic lotus flower that changes color. –Rice was slightly undercooked. –Inside dim ambiance felt like a modern day bowling alley. –Nothing authentically Japanese about quality of food, service nor ambiance. –2 stars total:(1/not getting sick) +(1/waitresses were nice)

I was skeptical of getting good asian food in Scranton. I had tried Osaka and Panda something in the past and was less than impressed while others raved about the quality. At the recommendation of the front desk clerk at my hotel, I tried Yume. The place recently opened, and when I arrived, there were only two other tabels there. I am not really a sushi expert. In fact, I am really a wimp when it comes to trying new rolls. In admitting that fact, I ordered a simple King Crab Roll. I really only ordered it becasue ya know, when in Rome… :-) It was very good! I paired the sushi with the warm Sake… yum! For my meal, I had the chicken Yakisoba noodles. Deducting 1 star because while very good, there is no way it was worth $ 23. Service was attentive and I received my food quickly. Overall, a very good dining experience. I would go back if in the area, and choose another meal option.

Good food but very slow. We were driving through the area and stopped for a quick dinner. Even though we ordered very simple sushi it took about 45 minutes to get our food. It did seems that several people arrived at the same time, but that wait was a bit excessive. And they got my order wrong(very minor mistake). Would have been five stars other than the wait.

Very good sushi and apps. Poor service. Was there on saturday night and they only had 2 servers on and one of them was doing the bar. Waited long for drinks and long for food. Food was 4 star. Service was 2 star. Overall 3 star. May try again but a little skeptical now.

If this restaurant were in Tokyo, Manhattan, or Paris, I would have given it 4 stars. However, in our area the sushi here is unmatched against the likes of Pearl, Kyoto, Avocado, and even Desaki in Tannersville. Upon entering the doorway into the restaurant, I was enticed to see how«retro-modern» the place looked, from the lighting to the furniture. The bar is expansive. I was beginning to think«is this the beginning of trendy food fare in NEPA?!» Anyway, I was promptly greeted and seated(at the sushi bar). The owner/sushi chef Eric greeted me and recognized me from Kyoto in the years past. Their regular menu is quite extensive, but I was all about sushi that night. A good selection of drinks are available as well, including sake(hot/cold) and Japanese beer. The sushi list was very large, and it was refreshing to see an inventive twist to the Special Roll category, too many places offer Dragon Rolls and Rainbow Rolls anymore. I started my first plate with nigiri. Eric let me know they were all out of Spanish Mackeral and he would make up for it by giving me 2 pieces of Albacore on the house, thanks Eric. In the end, I had a plate filled with eel, white tuna, yellowfin tuna, albacore tuna, pacific salmon, live scallop, and pacific mackeral. The artistry and precision of both the plate décor and fish presentation was spectacular. Mackeral isn’t too popular, however some like it including me, and I was pleasantly surprised when he added his own twist of a hint of lemon wedge and diced scallion on the top of the fish. A few other selections of mine received special treatment of their own. It’s also worth noting Eric applies varying quantities of wasabi to each piece of nigiri based on the fish, this is something I’ve only experience in Manhattan. I contemplated a second round of sushi, and in the end I gave in to the wonderful selection, as I had never even seen anything like this anywhere else around our area. I ended up with a Volcano Roll(not your typical volcano roll, people) and a Dynamite Roll(again with his own inventive twist.) Volcano roll came with black roe on top, freshly chopped jalapeño, spicy tuna and salmon in the roll, and topped with a special sauce with a spicy concoction of some other type of fish, I’m sorry I forget. Result: Fantastic. Dynamite roll was extremely oversized, using a very different type of wrapping paper, not soy or nori. He then used a blowtorch to accent the sesame seeds and everything else that went into it. Simply amazing. Other special rolls on the top of my head are a deep fried unagi roll(on the list for next time) and another«roll» which is tuna tartare with other things«forgive my memory» but the unique thing is they are served on Tostidos Scoop Chips. How about that! In closing, if you are looking forward to a Japanese Grill/Sushi Night, please check out YUME. It recently opened, and I wish Eric the best of luck, I will definitely be coming here often. There are no hibachi tables here. And if the price turns you off, all I can say is you get what you pay for. Total meal for me including drinks was roughly $ 60 plus tip.

Best sushi in the area. I’ve been a fan of Eric(the sushi chef) for years, and he truly puts out an incredible presentation.
