My husband and I went to dinner with 3 other couples a week ago. We had had reservations for over a month but the day before we got a call asking if we would change our reservation from 7pm to 6:30pm. We agreed; what’s a half hour? We were seated right away and had a great waiter who was attentive, funny, and kind. We all ordered an appetizer but they came at different times. Our entrees took forever to come out and were also not served at the same time; everyone had to wait for a good 10 minutes before we could eat together. The salmon was delicious as was the steak. However before we were even done eating our entrees they handed us the check and said we needed to leave because our two hours were up. What??? Who puts a time limit on a patron? We didn’t even get dessert! We were rushed to finish our meals and tip was included. We were all appalled by the way we were treated.

I came here the other week on a date, and had been here a few times before. The Oak Room is a little gem in the small town of Sea Cliff. The inside of the restaurant is charming it is hip and modern well still providing a rustic and romantic ambiance. They have a bar area if you are just looking for a more casual experience of just a quick drink. The restaurant is also quite small so if you are planning on making the trip I would recommend making a reservation or calling before you leave. Some weekends they also have a live musician which is a nice addition to a dinner. The service is quick and attentive always making sure you are fully satisfied. The owners are also quite nice and every time I have been they, one of them has been there interacting with customers and overseeing the business. Now to the drinks and food, they now offer a Moscow mule which is quite delicious. If you are a fan of ginger beer I highly recommend. To start I had the grilled romaine Caesar salad. It was delicious and a huge portion, having the romaine slightly grilled added an interesting element. My date had the frisée and watercress with lardon and a poached egg. I had a bite of it and it was delicious! For my meal I had the salmon with crispy skin. The salmon was cooked exactly the way I asked for it and melted in my mouth. It was the perfect portion and the skin was perfectly crispy. It was in a red wine sauce with various sautéed mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. The combination together was a win. For dessert we shared the apple crumble. Again the perfect portion size. The only negative about the dessert was that they left the skin on which created a tough element to the apple. Overall a delicious meal with a romantic ambiance.

Nice tavern in town. Good Georgio’s coffee. Okay food. Nice wine list though a bit pricy. Friendly staff. If you ask they will answer.

Great place in Sea Cliff. Excellent food, ambiance and service. Have been here 3 times and each visit has been a pleasure. It’s a small restaurant and you can feel the pride that they take in serving their customers. Highly recommend

After a long weekend of turkey and family it was really nice to switch things up with a brunch. I had the steak and eggs, and my wife had the French toast. The food was amazing. There was so much flavor! Price was fair, food was delicious, drinks even more delicious(try the bugs bunny, it’s strange) but my only complaint was that it was very busy for such a small restaurant. I guess that’s not somethings that can be fixed so my complaint is useless. 5 stars! Thanks oak room for a great brunch.

Sadly I rarely have internet service when I come here, although I just learned they have wi-fi. I’ve eaten many times over the past few years and only have a couple of check-ins to verify it. Oh well. Between the beer selection, the great variety of food, the intimate setting, the locals, the service and so much more that makes this place great, I always look forward to my visits here. On a visit this past May we had the salmon, octopus, pork chops, a pasta dish, and for apps the bruchetta and meatballs. I think that gives you a good idea of the wide scope of offerings at Oak Room Tavern Sometimes we’ve come to sit at the bar and have one of the great selection of beers. Although there are only a few seats sometimes we’ve gotten lucky even at busy times. On my last visit I have the vegetable linguini, which included a savory sauce and some very fresh veggies. Someone in the group alwayts seems to get a special, and I don’t. Which is regrettable because that person always seems happier then everyone else.(I am also happy, just not AS happy as they are.) If you’re lucky you’ll catch a night with live entertainment. While a very small place somehow they manage to fit in a «stage». This place is great. Don;t miss it.

Food was excellent. Atmosphere was great, Bloody mary was not good. Garnish was lovely but it was bland. Also they only have pre-sweetened ice tea! So if you want iced tea but cant have sugar — so sorry. I don’t understand why a good restaurant thinks its fine to only offer PRE-SWEETENED Iced tea. Boil up some real tea –how hard is it?

Hands down my fav brunch in the north shore! The food is fantastic. My first time here I ordered tres leches French toast with maple butter on top. It was creative and most importantly scrumptious! Food not only tastes great but is well presented. Every time I’ve dined here I’ve left with a happy stomach :)

Went for brunch – food was decent. the waitress was extremely nice and attentive. My main issue was with the manager or possibly owner. very rude. Only attended to big tables with families – completely disregarded everyone else. Possibly will go back for the great coffee, but being not looking forward to seeing that guy again.

Sea Cliff has always had a special place for my wife and I as I proposed to her on the beach there. So it was an appropriate setting for our wedding anniversary dinner. Located on the main drag in Sea Cliff, the Oak Room Tavern is situated on what becomes a quiet drag on an early Friday afternoon. The excellent Unilocal reviews and the equally as interesting menu were the reason we made reservations. We decided to dine on their little patio area. Again Sea Cliff Ave was very quiet on this day so that made it nice. The weather was excellent too as a nice breeze was felt during dinner. The service is top notch. Our hostess was friendly and made us feel welcomed. Our waiter was attentive and polite. As for the food, well they had a special for artisian cheeses and crackers, so we took them up on that. It was an excellent start. I ordered the gin Soutside and it was the perfect drink to sip on that evening. For our main course with both got the Kansas City steak. Yeah, we were both in the mood for it and we didn’t want to share any of it! The steak was seasoned so good with the chimichurri sauce and cooked medium. To cap this wonderful night, we split the key lime pie. It was nice and tarty with freshly grated key lime on it. We will be happy to come back and try the interior dining area and bar.

I came here this past Sunday for the second time for brunch.(I have only been here for Sunday brunch.) A friend of mine is in love with this place so she took me here for my birthday last month. I really enjoyed the food so I decided to share the love by inviting two other friends here. We made a reservation, but at 12:30 on Sunday it seems that most of the brunch crowd has already left so there were plenty of table options. My first time here for brunch I had a chef special item off the menu. This time I had the Eggs Florentine(their version of an eggs benedict) and added smoked salmon. Delicious! I love eggs benedict and they did it justice. Can’t go wrong with the brunch cocktails! I just wish they had non-dairy option instead of milk. If so I would have loved a coffee after my meal.

Long story short… There are NOHOURSOFOPERATION, this place closes whenever the cooks feel like it. Drive out there at your own risk! The long story: Just to preface, The Oak Room Tavern’s website DOESNOTLISTANYHOURSOFOPERATION. Why would they? It’s only a restaurant open to the public… Why would hours of operation be relevant? That’s just silly, right? Anyway, has them listed as open until 12−2am depending on the night, meanwhile has them closing at 11pm nightly. Heading over at 8:25SEEMED like a safe bet, or so I thought! So on this particular evening, my friend and I headed over to The Oak Room Tavern for some food & drinks(burgers & beer, nothing crazy). We arrived around 8:45pm. It was a warm night, and there were a few people eating outside, meanwhile the inside of the restaurant seemed fairly empty. Upon being greeted the waiter told us he had to check to see if the kitchen is still open. He walked into the kitchen area, had a conversation with the cooks, and then came out and informed us that the kitchen is closed, followed by a «sorry». So I basically drove twenty minutes for dinner, only to be denied because the cooks didn’t feel like cooking anymore that night. I’ve worked in plenty of restaurants, so I would never be one of those people who show up right before closing. But with every available website listing the closing time at 11pm-2am, I figured 8:45pm would be pretty safe. I guess I was wrong… Wrong for giving this place a shot.

This is where I came for an anniversary dinner and discovered Victory Golden Monkey. It is now one of my favorite beers, so that’s an automatic three stars. But, aside from the awesome beer menu, I loved the rustic touch, everything we ordered was delicious, and our server was very attentive.

Food was good. Service was awful for a table of eight. Kid waiting on us was like in high school. Never checked on the table once. Very inexperienced.

8÷13÷14 Dear Oak Room/Elizabeth D, Please reread what I wrote. It was not a complaint about Oak Room’s wait staff. They have always been friendly, even while running themselves ragged. Rather, my beef is with the *pattern* of insufficient support on the floor and how that affected the Oak Room experience overall. The example I cited was an illustration of that pattern. I am extremely disappointed in your tone. Your condescending language reflects poorly on your ability to understand and address the larger issue at hand. I had a lovely delicious dinner at Oak Room Tavern in Sea Cliff last night. A beautiful romantic cozy atmosphere. I loved that the menu has vegetarian choices, organic, and some even home grown and produce locally bought. I started off with the shrimp cocktail app which I can’t wait to go back and have again. As for my main dish I had the Red Quinoa which included a mix of goat cheese and beets. I was very pleased with my dining experience and service. I have no idea why other reviews complain about service recently because ours was VERY attentive. My water glass was always filled immediately, our meals came out in a timely fashion but not rushed. And when I wanted a second drink it came along quickly. To say a restaurant has great food and music but give it 1 star cause of service is just not right. When basing picking stars it should be over all. I am really looking forward to going back. I am so happy to have found another 5 Star quality restaurant right here near where I live. If you have not tried this place I urge everyone to make a reservation for your future!

Went here for the first time with my boyfriend a month ago. I was looking for a place to get some good food, have a great beer and chill out. The place was way more upscale than I thought, and upon walking in I got a weird look. it’s cool though-used to it from growing up on LI and being more of a Brooklyn person at this point. We sat with some awesome people who were friendly, and the staff was pretty decent. I’d go back again because I am a dork for somewhere with good brews.

I have a thing for pretty places and the Oak Room Tavern didn’t disappoint. It’s rustic and classic with a very cozy feel. Kale salad was amazing and had duck as an entrée. Mind you, I’m picky with how my duck is cooked so when I tell you that it was perfect, I mean PERFECT. Craft beers tickle my fancy and this place doesn’t let you down. I mean, it is a pub after all. Either way, the oak room’s definitely not another fancy shmancy place. It’s well worth the $ and you’ll leave happy.

So it was my first time to the Oak Room Tavern and I have to say I will be back soon! We all started with shrimp cocktail for the table, I had the onion soup, the two ladies had the kale salad, and my buddy had the Cesar salad with an egg on top. I tried the kale salad which was surprisingly sweet(normally kale is bitter) and tasted the Cesar salad with the egg… YUM!!! It gives the salad a richness that is amazing. My onion soup was good but not the best I have ever had; next time I am getting the Cesar salad! For dinner I had the pork chop! That was the one of the best pork chops I have ever eaten! My friend had the duck and he gave me a piece to eat. Shoot that was spectacular as well! The two ladies had the tuna, in my opinion it was the weakest dish on the table. Dessert we had the strawberry shortcake(AWESOME) and the Brownie with vanilla gelato(Good — not as good as the SSC), The service was perfect and the drinks were great! Overall the experience was PERFECT.
